Ack. I just realized that Q is on vacation. Without him or Alichai, I don't think there is much hope for this thread to be seen. I think I'm going to post a link to it in the SWG Discussion form, if you guys could /bump it would at least have a chance of getting read.

Thanks!

Arrrgh!

I'm a Tailor/Merchant and I just got done pulling my hair out over the proposed value/1000 every 45 min fee fiasco.

Now I see this....

if experience is any teacher it will take 34 pages of posts and about a week before we hear a 1 line response posted in another forum saying, "oh, yeah. we will implement clothing decay."

My secret hope is that the list was typed up by some flunky who was just hired yesterday and just made up the reason. It is also my hope that said flunky is being soundly thrashed and shown the door.

The other day I collected a sample of live moths and built a creature habitat for them. I wonder if I used the release command in someone's house ifthey would eat the clothing. Maybe this could be a smuggler skill.

In any case add me to the list of people who WANT clothing decay

The main problem I have with this is NOT the fact that they removed something that wasn't working. We knew it was coming, it's been on test for over a week. As Vass put it, "We removed it since it didn't do anything". That's fine, whatever, no big change.

The problem I have is that they said "overwhelming community feedback" is the reason it was removed. What? Clothing decay was the number one issue for Tailors!! In the Devs answers to that we were told that they could implement clothing decay "very soon". Yet, now, they moved it and claim the COMMUNITY wanted it?

There's absolutely NO communication happening within Sony much less between Sony and us. We most certainly did not want decay completely removed, we wanted it fixed. Now they are saying that we wanted it removed?! That's utterly unacceptable.

Just had to chime in here. This is the most short-sighted, unfair nerfing of a profession I've ever seen the dev's do, and I was in beta for six months. The reasoning--popular demand--is exactly the sort that the dev's normally purport to abhore. They try to balance professions, even if it means making players unhappy. Here they have UNbalanced one profession, so that it depends entirely on sellingnon-decaying items, and try to pass it off as submitting to the will of the community. Unbelievable, and in direct contradition to the notes we received in response to our submitted issues. What the hell?

This should become our central lobbying issue until decay is reinstated.

For those of you who're asking, "Where was the overwhelming community demand," let me sum it up for you. No, no sarcasm, really.

There was a thread the other day on the SWG Discussion forum. If you use the Dev Tracker link, you would have seen it, because one of the devs, I forget if it was Q-3PO or Holocron, chimed in around page 4 and said, wow, thanks, we'll consider that.

The thread started with a very lengthy rant from a combat character who was saying that the combined effect of item decay on clothing and insurance being turned back on was that nobody would ever, ever take an expensive item out into the field with them. He threatened that instead of making people buy more items, it would make them run around in their underwear firing CDEFs. He was lobbying for a "loss of XP" instead of "loss of items" system for death penalties.

This turned into a huge petition of combat characters threatening to run around in their underwear firing CDEFs for all eternity.

Now, I didn't bother to respond to this, because in the same "nice job" post whichever dev it was said, basically, "oh, and I'm not reading the rest of the thread, I just read the first big post." If I had responded, I would have said, basically, two things: "oh, right because combat characters are so broke (not)," and "oh, yeah, because people don't care if they look like crap, take huge amounts of incoming damage, and do basically nothing in damage (not)."

I don't know what community he's been listening to, because it surely isn't SWG Tailors. I don't recall seeing even one post on someone wanting clothes to not decay. It sounds like somebody was being lazy and instead of fixing the bug of clothing not decaying when they should, and experimentation not affecting that decay rate, just yank it completely out. How very disappointing, but unfortunately not surprising. Hopefully this outcry will reach the dev's ears and they'll fix this.

I'm not a tailor, but I think no-decay for clothing is just plain silly. And while I admit that as a non-tailor, maybe I missed some clothing related threads, but I really can't seem to recall any massive upswelling of opinion that clothing decay would be a bad thing. I dunno, you have my sympathy, guys.

Ok, I've been thinking over this for a while now... and I'm going to work on a twostage protest.

1.) Until Sunday, I'm running around in my skivvies. Now, any of you that have seen me in game will know that I'm a plumpish purple Rodian (you know the ole phrase 'never trust a skinny chef' - that's the reason). And I will tell you that the sight of me in white skivvies ain't exactly enticing. Not even to another Rodian. Oh, and I plan on having my Uniform Marshal title up. If I had Master Tailor that would be, but UM will have to do.

2.) If we haven't heard a thing by Sunday about the plans to resolve this, then I plan on grinding away. Not with 'practice'. Not with 'delete'. I'm just going to make as many clothing items as I possibly can. Fill my house, my pack, the bazaar, my vendor... and then start giving the little things away. Might be belts, might be ribbed shirts (oh, I wonder how many non-tailors have ANY idea how many ribbed shirts I've gone through so far). I'm not sure if I will list some items as 100k on my vendor too. Maybe a few of the ribbed shirts at 3k on the bazaar, along with an explaination.

3.) If it remains a week later, I'm just going to pack it in as a tailor and go back to playing instruments. In my white skivvies. With Uniform Marshal showing (maybe with the grind I'll have Master Tailor by then).

Hmm, do you think this would be a bad time to ask the devs to give us a black armband schematic? Wait, if I can make hundreds of different items, why can't I figure out how to make my own steenkin armband?

A black armband schematic? hahaha, to be honest I think they need to give us a much needed schematic for vaseline.

Well I might as well just make a big wardrobe for myself and give up tailor. Business has already slowed down big time over the past month. With no decay and how much crap is floating around it's just not worth the bother.

To be honest I would think that the devs would want clothing decay due to all the problems the database always has. Do they not realize that a year from now their DB will be half full with clothes?

Just to be spitefull I left my vendor and vendor items intact (ha ha, how do you like your database problem now?) when I closed up my shop and slapped a 100k admission fee for my house in case people can't read the sign "CLOSED TAILOR ON STRIKE".
