I'm sorry, I can't figure out the logic in not having clothes decay like everything else does without maintenance or replacement of some kind. I sure hope this is just a temporary withdrawal of a useless feature until they fix it and put it back in the game. Soon. Real soon. Or a lot of Tailors are going to give up.

I think you hit the nail on the head.SOE wants fewer artisans in the game (fewer artisans = less items in the database) and this is one way to ensure that. A lot of tailors feel betrayed right now, and I'm sure that the ones that were already on the fence before the patch will be giving up their tailoring skills after this.

I can hear the SOE spin doctors now: "Oh, we thought your correspondent was suggesting that the 'experiment' button was useless since there is no clothing decay, so we removed the button."

I feel...insulted.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?!?!?!?!??!?!!?!?!

Who did you ask for this "overwhelming" repsonse? Did you ask tailors?? I don't recall it. Why don't you ask us if we want weapon decay.. or armor decay.. OF COURSE WE DON'T! So take that out too! You know what? Take out maintenance fees while you're at it.. we don't want that either.

Allow me to paint a vivid picture of how SOE has screwed us tailors over.

My brother plays on Ahazi, and he is the classic combatant/CH not that there is anything wrong with him. Well he wears a combination of his noob clothes and some very nice high end loot drops. So first he gets Field Wear 3 clotheing off a dead cannibal and then he can wear it for all of etnernity because there is no decay. And let me tell you he has, ever since July 4th he has worn the same outfit, and his friends are the same way, they will never buy peice of clotheing because they don't need to. We need decay in order to survive just like Weaponsmiths need it and armoursmiths...

Well, as a Musician, I'm one of your customers, not a Tailor -- but I completely agree: decay for clothing is essential to your profession (and, indeed, to all crafting professions). Speaking as just one entertainer, I can say I for one have never clamored for removal of decay! And, more generally, speaking as the Musician Correspondent: of all the hundreds of proposals tossed at me by Musicians and other entertainers, not once has anyone ever urged me to fight decay of entertainers' clothes.

One has to hope this is a precursor to implementation of decay rather than a wholesale abandonment of it.

  • Not happy, not happy at all! Well, let's see, I vote for not weapon decay, no armor decay, the food you get should be ever-lasting, not consumable, and medicines should last forever too then. Why is clothing any different than these?

Please explain why when I wear my cloak outside and shoot at monsters for hides, the cloak suffers no decay, but the second I switch to my crappy armorweave armor the decay suddenly rockets downward on that "clothing". Hmm, I guess I should be proud that I make such sturdy cloaks

Hey... waitaminute... I think you're on to something there.

What about the overwhelming call for everyone wanting to be a Jedi? Let the FS slots flow, SOE!

I think we need to be proactive about this... I was thinking of staging a "nude-in" on Eclipse. Basically, get all the Tailors and other people who feel the same way in some city plaza and just TAKE IT ALL OFF....

    "What do we want?!"

    "Clothing decay!"

    "When do we want it?!"

    "NOW!"

If it wasn't for disappointment, I wouldn't have any appointment.

This is the best idea ever. Post a time and place and I'll create an alt-character on Eclipse, run some missions, buy good clothes, and join in taking them all off!

    I agree with you all!
I'll give up tailoring as so many others also do.
Our only possibilties of sactions as I see them is to cancel the account for a while until they fix this. (Would have done this if I had not paid for a year already and this game is a bit too addictive... LOL!) The other possibilty as I see it is to stop selling crates and schematics to armorsmiths, but I don't know how effective that will be. But if we stood together on it... maybe there will be a shortage of quality armor soon. Strikes can be effective.

Well, if you excuse me, I have to go to train to become a combatant instead of a crafter.....

Removed the decayRate attribute from many schematics. Community feedback was overwhelming that we remove decay from clothing.

Okay, okay, maybe. Maybe. Just maybe. Please 'o gods, let this maybe be true.

Maybe they are just removing the attribute until they get it, ya know, working. So as not to confuse people.

Clothing doesn't decay, but the stat is there, so people get all boggled trying to figure out how long the clothing lasts, and they bug us tailors, and we gotta tell them "no, clothing doesn't decay," and they go "but there's a stat," and we go "yes, but it DOESN'T decay, atleast not yet," and they go "but I have clothing that's under 1000," and we go "but you looted that," "and they go "oh," and the devs go "gee, that must be annoying," and we go "YES!" so they changed it.

Maybe this is just a fix to bypass all that and save us the hassle.

    Maybe?

I wish I could believe that, Connrad, but the language seems pretty explicit: "Community feedback was overwhelming that we remove decay from clothing."

That does not sound like "we are removing clothing decay until we can fully implement it", it sounds like, "All Tailors, you are SOL!"

It just doesn't make sense they'd unravel our profession this way. (Yes, double pun intended) They created Tailors and all these clothes for us to make, with decay in mind so we'd have a constant customer base. It's just boggling they'd cut a whole elite profession off at the knees. This has got to be a misunderstanding in the way the 'note' was worded. They've done it before, we can hope they've done it again.

And seems some Armorsmiths think experimentation never did diddly to the components we sell them? Umm, then why do they look for the highest quality ones?

It'd be nice if a dev would like to share what they 'intend' for the future of tailors.

    • Will Experimentation mean anything?
    • Will we ever get a working decay system?
    • How about more items to be able to make?

The list could go on and on...

I am in agreement with everyone. Weapons, Armor, Houses, Harvestors should all be the same... NO DECAY! This is such a crazy idea. What were they thinking?

What everyone so broke from paying for guns and armor that they complained about payin 10k for a piece of clothing?

I worked hard since the begining of this game to get to master tailor and now its feels like I wasted months of my time to be a Master of no decay clothing. I am livid about this!

I say we all triple our prices and keep our new "baskin robbins colors" to ourselves and let others just wish decay would set in so they can have the same colors we wear.
