Thread: Art Team: What Tailors Want (v 2)
Well, there really isn't much for me to add to the list when it comes to clothes. But I have to agree with some that "if it isn't starwarzy, it doesn't belong in SWG." But when you think about it, who wears a sunguard in any of the movies? SWG has a very oriental flair. Many players with oriental style names. Bowing as I would do much when I lived in Japan. Is this because Sony is a Japanese company? Why isn't there a server in Japan?
Well, I kinda got off of the main reason of this thread. Sorry. I will say that my Master Tailor is a Transdoshan. He is limited to what he can wear. Granted his fat fingers would not fit into gloves and he is short changed when it comes to fingers. No big deal there. But why can't he wear some sort of footwear? Open toed shoes, sandles or something? Also, why does every pair of pants he wears have to look short sheeted? He is not the species to be if you want to be a fashion statement but there are some improvements that would really please me.
As far as the clothing wishlist goes, it is all pretty much covered but something has to be done about those waist donuts we have to call belts and Two Strap Bandoliers sticking thru peoples arms and fitting like they should only be worn by a large wookiee.
When it comes to jewelry. Before they make more, can we just see what we have now? They give this excuse about some problem that stops it from happening and that it will be a long time before it is available. It is not easy selling jewelry sight unseen. Funny thing about all of this is that if you make a necklace. Then drop it. You see it then don't you? You pick it up and you look in your pack and you see it don't you? Then if you offer it to a client in the trade screen, they can see it can't they? So what is the problem here?
There needs to be more hats. I have clients all the time asking, "What do you have that I can wear?" I may say, "Well, I am sorry but I only have4 hats for humans. You have the Sunguard which can make you look like a Viet Cong Warrior if you do it in black. You have the turban if you want to look like you came from the far east or run a 7-11 convenience store. You have the Warm Hat which makes you look like you have an extension to your brain cavity. And there is the Spec Ops helm with the goggles and with that you can look like you just flew into town." And they say, "Well, no thanks."
I am sorry that I have not contributed much worthwhile to this thread. But I am all for something new being added to the selection. I have made literally thousands of what is available now. My stores sell approximately 200+ garments a day and making the same old same old is getting extremely boring.
Personally I think that 'if it is in a Star Wars Movie then we should be able to make it.' Thanks for such a thought provoking thread.
Three words: Metal Bikini Bottom. Being able to create the full Metal Bikini was a large part of why I became a Tailor and I was disappointed when I found out that I could not make the bottoms.
I have a problem with a lot of the items suggested because they are not cannon. This games biggest problem in my opinion is maintaining a Star Wars feel. Too many of our tailor schematics look like they have been taken directly from Everquest.
Some of the non-cannon itemscould make good loot items or special schematics you get for secretTailor quests for example,to limit their availability in the game. I personally like when Lucasarts games sneak in little elements from other lucas films and other properties. Some non-cannon items I would like to see in this manner include Indiana Jones Fedora, Matrix Eyeglasses, Top Gun Eyeglasses, Men in Black Eyeglasses, Men-in-Black-style shirt (with Tie), and a James-Bond-like Tuxedo Shirt. I'd also like to see a wearable Padme torn-shirt as seen in the finale to ATOC as one of these rare schematics/loot items.
Another thing I would like to see added is helmets, maybe as part of the space expansion. X-Wing Helmet, A-wing helmet, wearable AT-AT driver helmet, AT-ST Driver helmet, Death Star Trooper helmet, etc. You should also consider faction-specific clothing schematics that only become available to(and wearable by)members of a specific faction such as the aforementioned helmets. That way rebels dress like rebels and imperials dress like imperials. Also it shouldn't matter whether you are covert or overt to wear these items.

Well I was cracking up the entire time reading your post.
how about some clothing from other space films/tv series. my personal favourate would be babylon 5 ( www2.warnerbros.com/babylon5/home.html ), itsgot the gritty functional look that star wars constumes have so i think would fit in well.
Id be happy to see anything from Aliens to X Files
well anything but a star trek uniform ![]()
I have a few items for my Christmas wishlist.
#1 - Accessories!!! Rings (viewable), earrings!!!, Stockings, more shoes (good heels, etc), Belts (not hula hoops), scarves, tiaras, armbands, chains (for the rockstars and bikers), and lots more.
#2 - A customizable colour palete. RGB + Saturation. I want to chose my colour, not be stuck with 5 shades of grey, and 8 shades of Brown (like the Formal Jackets)
#3 - The ability to alter the name of clothing, or the colour after it's made!!! How many times has a customer said "That's not exactly the colour I was hoping for, can it be a bit more blue?"
#4 - If decay is going to be in, can it look raggedy after it hits 50% or lower? Maybe falling apart at 0% Weapons do less damage as they decay... Creature's HAM drops...
#5 - More schematics. TONS more....
As for clothing that isn't "Star Warsy" a soultion. Look at the extras in the Star Wars movies and make the new clothes like that. One problem. None of my clients want to look like an extra. Sure we could stick to the Star Wars clothing, Iagree. We don't wan't people to look like there walking through Manhattan. But there is a limit to how much Star Wars you can put in before people start boycotting Tailors (And then we have nudists, which is not fun. Or really fun, depending on your mindset:tongue
.
Just a Thought.

Just a thought - but are they also looking for nominations for schematics we would rather delete the char than ever make? to make some room for these new ones?
I will personally NEVER craft the following as they are plain ugly:
decorative dress. ( so high in thre tree and so plain)
metal necklace (looks like a bicycle tyre round my neck)
Longsleeve gown ( okay if you want to look like a nun)
at least half of the belt schematics ( can you really tell the difference between them once worn?)
/snort
Hilarious, and so true! I can make more belts than I can types of headwear (as wearable per race)..which is a little strange. I'd love to offer female customers more headwear options...the decorative headdress is a *little* too ceremonial, and hardly matches anything else.
The lekku wrap is pretty and simple, and it would be nice to have an equivalent for human females (given how hair can be treated like lekku). Perhaps change the style/colour of the hair ties that come with some of the hairstyles?
Didn't manage to read every post after the first 2 pages..sorry if I'm repeating!
That's it for now
I'd be happy if we could just get all the clothing NPCs have. If an NPC can wear it, lemme make it. Likewise, it'd be nice to be able to craft things like the "Vest."
On a similar note, if the Art Team could only ever give us one thing, let it be a single, universal color pallete.
Come to think of it, there is a GUI improvement I'd like to see. Instead of trying to cram Color 1 and 2 (and 3, and 4. . .) into one box, how about having a drop down list or tabs at the top and when you click on them it switcheds which color you're modifying? That way my pallete stays nice and big, easy to see and easy to use.
Not sure if this has been mentioned, but how about when an item is made the colors, either by name or numeric designation be included in the exmaination information, that way peeps can coordinate their outfits with greater ease.
