Thread: Art Team: What Tailors Want (v 2)

For my repeat customers, I tell them what their favourite colours are, and keep track in my notebook what they prefer, or need matched. I adjust the crafting window so that the colours are 14 across, which makes 2 perfect rows of colours, 7 per side, all the way down. The left side is labeled A,B,C... and the Right side is labeled AA,BB,CC, then the number across 1-7. The colour to best match rebel marine armour is H4 and that is what I always use forone guy that always want highlight colours in that. If the window wouldn't rearange these colours, and had them pre-labeled this way, that would make life alot better. If they could somehow allow tailors to examine clothes so we can see the colours in it (perhaps in the /examine command) then I'd be overjoyed!!

I really protest the holo imaging... I already spend way too much time with custom orders. I can imagine someone wanting to try every combination of clothing in all the colors instead of letting ME the Tailor.. make the recommendation. More work is what I see.. not a help. Players can already browse web sites for pics of the clothing...

Perhaps the holo-imager could be an option, rather than an inherent feature? I would like for customers to preview items as I make them, actually...in addition to previewing themselves in premade items. I love doing custom orders (unless the customers are a pain), and it's a little too frustrating to decipher some of the words used to distinguish shades of the same colour.

Also, different graphics settings could mean that colours appear differently to me, so "dark blue" might not mean the same thing to the both of us. Particularly since different fabrics hold colours differently!

By "a pain" above, I mean more "rude" than "fussy"

I'm new to this forum, and i've been reading the posts, and not seen what i've been looking for. I've been looking for a unique look for my artisan, and wondering if maybe a medical look might be interesting. PROSTETICS! how hard would it be to created the cyborg look? mech legs or arms or some such? I think this would be interesting and fit right in.

Also, as I said, i'm new so I don't really know much, but can unique markings be added to armour or clothing? guess I was kinda suprised that *so far in my levels) I can't have a drawing tool for simple lines on clothing while manufacturing... but then my skill is artisan, not tailor level.

It was mentioned at the beginning of this thread the drawbacks of adding more luxurious and specialclothingarticles in the game, for instance having everybody look like princes and princesses or Darth Vader. This argument was used against having these articles introduced to our profession.

My argument is that it doesnt have to be that way. There are ways of limiting who gets what in more ways than one, namely a) price b) race c) sexd) profession e) skill and f) availability of resources. And of course the availability of master tailors.

Having the tiara introduced doesnt have to be a problem. It depends on what resources it would need and the complexity and cost making it. I doesnt see a problem having tiaras introduced if, lets say, they would actually have a royal cost. 60-100.000,- credits for a royal headpiece isnt too much to ask is it?

Regarding the jedi outfit, make it so that only jedis can wear it. Plain and simple.

My greatest wish for the tailor profession is making the crafting of clothes a more pluralistic effort. To make this possible, I would think setting more items and color options at top priority is appropriate.

hmm on second though, regarding the jedi outfit, limiting the jedi outfit to jedis only is a problem, since Jedis would reveal themselves when wearing it.

Making a black and a grey cloak with a hood free for all shouldnt be a problem. Perhaps we should be able to make superb jedi outfit that only jedis can use which they can flunt and strut in when casting the cloak aside at the start of battle?

"they get more schematics than any other profession out there!"

Yes, and I bet we have the most "never used" schematics as well. Out of the bajillion things we can make, we probably only use about 15 of them on a regular basis.

Also we have more schematics than anyone else because unless we put BE things in, our items are useless for anything other than decoration. Our whole class is about making people look good, so I feel that we deserve more schem variety than say, armorsmiths or weaponsmiths, who have products that people of every combat class actually need.

And I agree with Dex, we have a lot of schems that hardly no one wears. Take a look at any of the tailoring websites and look at all the ugly ugly things we can make. Most of us can rattle off a long list of "loser" schematics that we've sold maybe one or two (or none!) of since we started tailoring.

We also want new schems because we are one of the few crafting professions that has no significant changes since release. We've had some bugs fixed (though not enough). And oh, we got that new metal palette that was obviously intended for armor because it looks awful on 90% of the clothing schems that use it.

Im pretty new to tailoring business, and this is first time ive read anything here about tailors.

Ive got to admit i didnt read all of this tread, but i would like to say that i wiish they could fix the scematic listings:

..so skirts go under skirts, not misc clothing,

and wookie clothes under wookie garb and not all over ...

so if this has been said before im sorry for being to lazy to read the whole tread.

Of course i also would like more scematics, but atm its bugging me a little that the listing is so wrong.
