Thread: Curious what some of you are charging for a few new items
Extremely revealing skirt: 3000
hood-up cloak: 600
basic camo: 1000
quilted pants: 850
winged hotpants: 1000 (today I plan to change the price to 1k, I think they are still 2k on my vendor at the moment)
snowboots: 600
grand mayoral robe: 4500
dark sash: 800
cargo vest: 1000
...since added, I have sold hundreds of the robes. I sell 50-60 a day on the bazaar =) -and for some strange reason, I've seen more than a few snow boots sell.

I personally like to set my prices higher, because I take pride in having a well stocked shop. I do price many of the artisan and novice level clothing for around 500 credits, so there's something for everyone. When these new items came out, I jacked up the prices, not because I wanted to make a killing, but because I didn't want one person to come through and wipe out my vendors. I'd rather make less clothing that costs more, than to make a lot of clothes for the same amount of credits.
Same with me. Even seliing my cloaks for 8000 credits each, many players STILL bought 3 to 4 each!
Revealing Skirts - 15000
Hooded Robes - 5500
Winged Hawtpants - 7000 (maybe 7500)
Grand Mayoral Robe - 15000
Cargo Vest - 6000
Padded Pullover (Umpire Vests) - 5000
Quilted Pants - 5500
Basic Camo - 3000
Dark Sash - 2200
*Prices are subject to changes without notice.
Edit: I just looked at my post and found some mistakes. I need to learn to type!

My prices are fairly low (so I am not telling anyone that they should raise their prices), but I think that tailoring has a major perception problem and that we tailors are part of the problem. Both us and some customers have come to the conclusion that if we make more than just a little bit of profit off of what we make then we are ripping people off. This is simply not true! All other crafting professions except for architects charge a lot more per unit for their products, even if they happen to be using mediocre materials. No one really complains about this. Even basic professions like novice artisans charge more. Why does no one complain? It is because the economies on almost every server have become extremely inflated. *Most* people who are playing either do combat or have a combat alt. I know that with my combat alt, I can spend 10-15K for buffs (which is a huge profit no matter what people say), go join a solo group and in the three hours that I have buffs, make about 1 million credits. This ability puts a lot of extra money into the economy and as a result, the prices for most things are really high! I have played SWG almost since the very beginning (as a tailor) and where inflation has made the price of most things go up by a factory of 5, 10 or even more, only tailor and architect goods have stayed the same and clothing has actually *fallen* in price. Until decay works for both us us and until we consider how our products are priced in our economy, we will be the most undervalued professions in the game.
Yep. We shoudl be charging MORE because we have to hand-craft everything which is time-consuming.

I agree.
Labor, time, and effort should be added into the cost, not just basic resources. I'm sorry, but when I sign on and see that one person has hit my vendor and bought 30 items and I've really only made about 25-30k from it, It's kinda sad, and this happens every day... multiple times. You can make 30k doing one Janta mission on Dantooine in 5 minutes, however, it'll take me 45+ minutes just to make those 30 items and list them all on my vendor. Somehow it just doesn't seem right. I think that if you price things too low, it becomes so hard to keep things in stock, and you get burnt out faster, and that's not good either. I love tailor and all, but I want to *continue* loving it. A balance needs to be found. I had to raise my prices twice in the past couple months becauseI couldnt keep up with demand and was spending so much time restocking it was pretty much ALL I did ingame. I'm sorry, but my time/effort is worth something, not just the resources.
Players really think nothing of paying 8000 credits for a cloak. I still make over a million credits each weekend, so I don't think I am overcharging anyone. I also have money in the bank so why work harder and make less credits? Seems rather silly to me to work work work and not charge enough for your time.
Hooded Robes - 4000
Winged Hawtpants - 12000
Grand Mayoral Robe - 12000
Cargo Vest - 3000
Padded Pullover (Umpire Vests) - 3000
Quilted Pants - 6000

I have fun being a tailor and sure hope those setting higher prices are still enjoying their work more then their profits.
Believe or accept or not, we mean nothing to economy other than being a consumer ourselves. Think about it.. we are talking prices like 1K-2K here... Tell me which other crafting proffession has those prices while crafting process and time spend is same? To buy 15 clothes =5 minutes of 1 mission. If people really care about money and whine about prices of clothing, then let them wear their million-worth composites.
an example from chef: making a +420, 44 minutes brandy 50 fil, 21 uses costs what? a crate of 25 costs lower than 30K, tell me did you see any chef selling like x2 price of cost , 60K a crate. or droids.. 1500 credits an R3 unit with 6 modules included, what? least 40K around..
How many of us can sell from vendors without getting a custom order just to pay costs of vendors / harvesters / factories because you cannot make all colors at same time that people may like?
Does Clothes decay? Dopeopledeletes their clothes afterthey are0/1000? Does anyone wears something besides composite because they buy them 250K a set even you sell your clothes total 10Ka brandnew wearing? Does Bio-Engineers sell below 2K a tissue even it is worst quality?
Sorry mate, I enjoy being tailor and I enjoy setting up my prices. Ofcourse competition is all fun but that we does not deserve "whines" about prices.
Thinking about real life economics, I'm in this business for long years. Clothing business.
Do you think full suits you saw in CK worth 4000 Euros / USD. Do you think Levi's Jeans worth 100 Euros / USD least... Do you know how much they cost? You will laugh probably, I'm in a company where Levi's buys their fabric and other equipment (like buttonsand threads) and our company sells same to other local jean marks. The super jeans you buy for over 100 USD from Levi's costs, 3 USD, believe it or not... Include shipment - being trademark, and taxes, max and max10 USD.
After being in business you really notice how good ripped you are. But as long as 'income' of people who buys them allows them to buy those with money spared from their income. We all do IRL. and here is no different, a simulation of real-life economics where everything is player crafted/supplied.
And yes, I enjoy my business a lot and I set my prices to level that I can continue to a business I love and live more of a life outside in a social world of Star Wars Universe besides sitting in house with my crafting tools and craft all day.
