Get rid of it. It's a padded armor segment, is it not? Armorsmiths can make padded armor, can they not? So, why would we have to make a padded armor segment, when the armorsmiths can bloody make padded armor without padded armor segments from us?

It makes no sense whatsoever.

This may be confusing to many people:

Actually it's a "padding segment" used in wookiee armor (what a confusing name!) which is not the same as a padded armor segment used in padded armor. If this changes your vote, just mark it down.

Vote stays the same. So reason why we have to make a padded segment for one kind of armor when Armorsmiths can make padded armor without our help. It's not that big of a leap from a padded armor segment to a padded segment used for another type of armor, you know? It's pointless. It's a slap in the face to BOTH tailors and armorsmiths.

Addendum: Perhaps make this needed in Wookiee clothing instead of bone or somesuch? Some wookiee clothes already look like heavy leather armor, perhaps it could add some defensive properties.

I'm going to keep this poll up another day or so - this is a tricky issue, and it's very hard to make an informed decision (to agree to a potential nerf, no less) when you haven't seen the system in action. I would encourage other tailors on test to chat about their experiences with this component to give a fuller picture.

Again, I want to stress that this poll was in response to communityunhappiness andthe opposition letter is not necessarily my personal opinion of how the issue should come out. I will not drop dead if this change is put in (of course I won't be making those components either). It's just a draft of my best arguments against it, prepared for if we do decide that we seriously don't want it. I don't have a draft of the best arguments for it because (hello!) we already have it.

I guess I'm still at a loss to figure out why so many tailors here apparently don't want to be 'bothered' to make a profit.

If you don't want to sell something - it's simple, don't. But I'm here to tell ya - the component trade IS good money - very good money if you get the word out and go after it.

I'm seeing lots of posts that say they don't want to make armorcrafters richer - ummm, turning down component work is cutting out YOUR own slice of the pie, which is certainly your perogative - but don't complain about it.

"I would like the new tailoring schematic, padding armor segment, to be removed from the tailoring tree and placed in the armorsmith tree."

No! = Keep it in the tailoring tree

Now here's my passionate plea as to why we SHOULD keep it:

Many of you are against having these 'components' that we craft in order to allow others to make their other items. Why? Because most of you have this idealistic view of how Tailoring should be...and for your views, I commend you!

However, reality sets in, and this is NOT an ideal game...we should embrace everything the Developers throw us, because it helps us, but primarily because it helps the game as a whole.

Look at it this way: SWG was supposed to be first game where a true player-run economy dominated. Unfortunately, the only people that truly dominate the economy are Armoursmiths and Weaponsmiths! They make the bulk of their items at a relatively low cost, and then mark them up VAST amounts...You cannot deny this...just look at your trade forums for respective galaxies...it's the rich AS's that have millions upon millions of dollars...they dictate the prices for everything in game, from resource pricing to the 'rare' loot drops.

I have personally had several rich AS's outbid me on the components and schematics I need to actually make money in this game...especially the Heavy Duty Leather and Clasps...they do it because they CAN...buying up all the items I NEED...and then forcing my hand later.

So, while these small components may seem a vast inconvenience for you who are content to make a few pretty clothes...this is a HUGE step for players like myself who actually wish to help shape the economy of the game...by forcing those who hold the power into a position of needing US. This is a Massively Multiplayer game, people...not a 'Dress up Barbie' game for yourself...all of the professions in-game should require components made from every other profession, and that is the directionthis game is going, like it or not. A true economy requires the willing interaction of different groups. If we just make clothes, we are not willing participants, and thus are not helping the economy...other professions will flourish, while we are left on the curb.

Ideally,WE would make the entire set of wookie armour...but that isn't going to happen! Wake up...support those other tailors who wish to make just components, or who wish to stay afloat in their FUBAR'd economies...stop being so self serving!

I know this will make a few of you furious at me...but please understand, I love this game...one of the ways I like to play the game will be removed if you take these components away(and the possibility of others in the future with them!), and I humbly apologize in advance for setting anyone off...I just think that this can only help us in the long run.

Yes = Remove it

While I can see the money-making potential of it (and as my primary character is a Ranger, getting hides for free doesn't hurt), I can't agree with the so-called logic of giving an armor segment to tailors. I'd much rather have the devs give us more options for the Wookiee clothes we can make.

wow you mean that tailors crafting apron that for some reason got put in the game might actually be useful?

i seriously vote keep it...finally another thing to sell for big money to architects...we already provide them with synth cloth and fiber panels...mine as well make it one more thing...and all of my hide i have in quantities is like in the 900's for qual lol...so i would love to see this left in the game personally...don't know why we would want to take it out...

I'm moving my reply out of this thread since it is distracting. I thinkthat only poll votes belong here to keep it easier for n'Jessi to count it up.

from my view, why would a tailor be able to make wookie armor segments but not segments for other types of armor? for consistancy i would say either let tailors make ALL the segments, or to just take this segment out.

since it is unlikely that we'll get to make other (ie composite) segments, my official vote is 'yes' take the wookie padded segment out of the tailoring tree.

Yes - Remove it

I've thought long and hard about this and came to the conclusion that I really don't need the extra hassle from Armoursmiths (I already have 8 on my ignore list for rudely demanding schematics for synth cloth and RFP!)

I now refuse to make schems for anyone.

Yes Get rid of it

And can I also say that you people who want experimentation are insane. Do you really want to have to locate good quality resources? Do you make enough money so you can pay for non-grind quality fiberplast or metal. And just think about the hides. You'd be competing with armorsmiths. Do you have any idea how much money they have to pay for the good hides?

ok this morning i was in a hurry and posted before realizing this was a 3 page thread already lol...

anyhow after reading a lot of your posts most people say get rid of it due to
1. they don't sell components and
2. they don't want to worry about resource quality

then why vote no...how about those of us who do sell components and do make a profit that is worth the time and effort(cost of a crate of fiber panels is like 2k...i sell mine for 4k and up...thats quite a mark up)those of you who wish to get rid of the component i would like a couple better reasons than this(and i saw some people did include more and they were definately good valid points)...the truth is like ome people pointed out...if you don't want to sell them...then don't...lol you can stick to harvesting whatever you want and leave the rest to the professions that require quality over quantity...and i agree with the person that said that this encourages another group of people coming into our shops and while they are there saying hey...let me take a look at the otehr vendors not just the component one...granted no everyone sees it this way but it does give tailors a better chance at aquiring more of the market share...with evena few votes to keep it i think this should be decided NJ said that she would need virtually a unanimous decision...this doesn't look to be going that way...

so with that said my vote is still to keep it on the tailor tree

oh and for those of you that said give us more schematics(real ones)instead of this...thats not going to happen...tailors will undoubtedly get nothing in publish 8 if we don't get this...as tailors have been getting nothing for several publishes(and no i don't count those limited use schematics)...just my 2 creds from what i have seen thus far...the last things i remmeber being given to tailors was 55 new colors...or 155 can't remember it was back in like pub 2 or something like that...and the devs revoking our experimentation...and chef clothes(two schematics which got put in the chef update category anyways)...that is all i remmeber tailors getting...forgive me if i have forgotten anything but thats all i remember getting
