Thread: What I know about the Socketing problem: an update thread (which will be continually updated)
Befoire the patch, I was getting 4 sockets nearly consistently, rarely anything less. Since the patch my average has been 2. This morning, I had a customer for 3 BE items and I gave him my warning. I was happy to get 3 3 and 4 sockets. I am watching my sockets carefully, and will make notes for the next few days on what I make, level of difficulty and sockets achieved.
Thanks for your work J - it is appreciated.

Why can't we find out if this was a mistake, or if they wanted to make this change. Is that a hard question? If it was intentional, then fine. I'll deal with it. If it was a mistake, I need to know if they are going to keep the change or if they plan on changing back. I can't run my business with out this information. Why is it so difficult to get an answer?

exactly....it is a simple yes or no question that Kurt should have been able to answer VERY quickly....was it done on purpose.
what does he actually do anyway....
it really isnt the change i am pissed about....just that there is no information....its really a customer service issue...the non responsiveness and when there is a response it is usually erronious or irrelevant
If it was broken and they didn't know it was broken, but they accidently fixed it when they added the experimentation code, they are probably scratching their heads and wondering what is going on.
I craft with my +assembly apron and have 12 experiment points but I still consistantly get very few 4 socketted items. I dont have the money to splurge on getting the rest of the +20 assembly to see if it helps :/

As a master artisan, are the sockets normally at an average of 2?
Only for the last few months has that been the norm. A few patches back I noticed all my artisan stuff's sockets went into the toilet - and I mentioned it - but there is so few things in that line that I ever make - I really didn't worry much about it. Tailoring tree items are an entirely different matter.
Since tapes are so hard to come by - at least good ones, and still buggy as hell - I see no reason whatsoever to change the way sockets have always performed on tailored goods.
A strange thing happened to me last night that may well reflect the sockets change. A couple of points first...
1) I'm a bloke (doesn't seem important but my dress sense is abit lacking
)
2) My colour combinations are bad to say the least ![]()
3) I usually sell between 2 and 5 items per night out of my store (see, no dress sense or colour co-ordination here :0 )
But last night I sold around 30 items! Mainly to a couple of people. Looks like 4 socket items are flying off the shelves at the mo and probably to other tailors wanting to capitalise on the sudden socket drop and a probable price increase. This doesn't bother me too much as I'm a casual player and the majority of my cash actually comes from selling harvested resources not clothes.
As it happens I crafted 30 items last night to stock my vendor. Usually I'd have a majority of 3 - 4 socket items probably totalling 20 of the items created with the other 10 being spread between no sockets, 1 or 2. My crafting last night resulted in 18 socketed items all with 1 socket. Crap to say the least ![]()
Anyrate, the point is that people seem to be buying up 3- 4 socket items for a possible price hike in future. I know, I take a while to get to the point but get there in the end ![]()
Just my 2 credits, I made an arch apron this weekend, and it had NO sockets. ![]()
Using my +14 clothing assembly gloves, my best tools and station, and resources that i gathered for armorsmithing, and NO SOCKETS. I was even in a research city, and it was at least a good success. I'm afraid to make any more of my aprons until we find out if this is intentional.![]()

Clothing assembly seems to have nothing to do with it. My test shows that resources *might*, but it is hard to tell and it doesn't make enough difference to really matter. As a mater of fact, I got more 0 socket clothing from good materials than from bad (but I got more 4 socket ones too).
I'm a Master Tailor and a Mater Artisan, I have high bonuses in both assembly and experimentation in tailor and live in a research city. Using both Uber resources and poor resources does not make a difference, the socketing is still frustratingly random. (especially so if you have a customer inisisting on 4 sockets on his BE shirt that cost you a fortune to make and you watch it come out with 2 GRRRR!)

Is it looking likely that we might get an answer to whether this is intentional or not any time soon? Restocking my vendors and deciding whether I am going to start charging for sockets really depends on the answer!
