You know, if it were up to me I wouldn't have SEA's at all. It concerns me that tailors aren't in the loop for something that is so completely integral to clothing that it is destroyed when the clothing wears out, yet requires no skill whatsoever to integrate. I don't know why SEA's couldn't be schematics. Especially since they are going to wear out. Or why Tailors can't just have more options like with the BE enhancements.

I'm not a tailor and rarely use SEA's, but I dothink this is a brilliant idea. Tailors have gotten a little love with the special schematics, but if you make SEA's into single use schematics, it would be evenbetter.

The fact is, decay is coming in patch 10. The devs implemented clothing decay upon death specifically because they did not want people to be able to wear clothing forever. It is a bug. It is getting fixed. Debating this is moot.

While debating this point may be moot, the CORE of the problem has yet to be discussed.

Which is : Clothing is nothing more than pretty eye candy
(and for the guys clothes, not even that)

Lets discuss some facts...

1)Decay ONLY affects people fighting and dying

2) 95 % of your hardcore devoted players that have played for over 6 mos
and are elite players DO NOT WEAR CLOTHES , we wear armor

3) Clothing has no REAL benefit (even Bio clothes is a joke, only usefull one is Doc stuff,
which any Doc can use to buff , then throw the suit in the bank
before they go fight in there ARMOR)

4) This ONLY affects those players who have there uber attachments inside a belt, shirt, or hotpants

5) This looks like the Final nerf on all thos +25 tapes from the first few weeks

While to some degree , i think decay in theory sounds good for clothing, it still has no real benefit for the tailors (Isnt this what its suppose to be helping ?)

Sadly, I have purchased less than 3 outfits of clothing in this game (and I have played since beta 2)
The reason being is that clothes offer no protection, or benefit to me when im out adeventuring and fighting..
(and if the non combatants are buying clothes, decay is not a factor for them)

I like some of the ideas posted here about reasons to wear clothes,
but until you can show us a reason to take off our 90 % resist composite armor,
you will NOT see people wearing, and buying new clothes.

Really the combat types that wear armor absolutely everywhere would never be good customers for us anyway I have plenty of combat customers that buy clothing and order outfits for when they're in town or combine armor with clothing just to look good. In most games Iplay a tank and it's rare to find me wearing a helm Only if I'm in a group of strangers so I don't get the evil eye. If I'm among friends or alone I'll forfeit the protection to not look like a dork. And I know many of my male customers, not just female ones care about their appearance, thank goodness As for the ones that don't, makes you wonder what they wear in real life o.0

Probably like my hubby when I met him, I think he'd owned the sametshirts for years hehe, and when he used to play SWG I'dhave to force him to change his character'soutfit every few weeks, I'd just hand a new outfit and he'd put it on giving me the old stuff Same thing in real life, occasionally when I'm shopping for me I'll go over to the boy section and buy some stuff for him. He's even been getting a little vain over the past few years As it should be for a marriedguy

All that to say....DarthInSANUS, it doesn't seem you would ever be one of our customers and you can't expect usto feel panicked that you won't buy our clothes post decay when you never have and probably never will...

Well we all mostly agree that decay upon death is useless as most of our customers are people who do care for their look, so often crafter and entertainers, and who don't die much. We said it when it was implemented and I don't think any of us really likes thedecay system. But having clothes decay at 0 condition is better than nothing, if they want to follow their idea.

But isnt that the point, shouldnt they be making changes based on bringing the tailor more and new business, to help benefit the industry ?

I WANT to have good fashion ...especially in this game.

But as it stands we have this..

Death= Decay
Fighting = Death
Armor = Fighting

Decay, Death and clothes just dont go together...(they should, but like i have said theres no reason to wear clothes to fight)

And for the gentleman who mentioned the warcry/intim shirts, I suggest you do some extensive testing yourself, and youll find the difference is negligable, and more effiecient to wear an Ubese undershirt with a decent plate in it..

When they give the TAILORS the ability to craft the equivalent to our + 5 - + 25 attachments into clothing, then and only then will you see the combatants making a choice for pieces of clothes over armor.

Personally I could care less either way as far as clothing decay goes, but I want to get to the core issue..which is Myslef and many others dont wear clothes, but we want too, give us reasons before you take reason away ?

After having spent an hour on dathomir intimidating things without the bonus, and finding it nearly useless to intimidate at all, and then switching to the shirt and immediately being able to effectively intimidate anything, I am satisfied that my conclusions are correct. Maybe it's different with intimidate2, but I don't have intimidate2.

Maybe if you have an armor attachment with like +10 to weapon speed it would be better to wear an ubese shirt, or a good damage attachment if you're TK. And even then I'd make myself a shirt equipping macro to switch between the two shirts.

Heh, to all you militant Tailors out there do you think this is going to help you any? Guess what I've not bought one piece of new clothing because of decay since the decay patch went in way back when. Nothing I own has ever hit 0, heck I think the lowest item I own is at 70%. When my favorite set gets low I'll use a repair tool to extend the life for at least another 6 months to a year.Decay doesn't promote purchasing of clothes, infact with most people it inhibits purchases. Sorry but it's true.

I used to buy new clothes every week for my character, because I enjoyed changing my look and felt like supporting my favorite tailors. However since decay was implemented,I've only bought one complete outfit. Why? Well cause decay makes me feel like i'm tossing away my money.

If you want a real idea on how to get repeat customers... here is a few thoughts.

1) Have a vendor with a variety of clothing, in a variety of colors. One of my all time favorite Tailors did this. I'd regularly drop 20-30k a week on different looks, all because I could see the colors I was interested in there on the vendor. The one outfit I bought after decay was bought on impulse because I found all the matching garmets right there on the vendor at that time.

2) Stop selling by special order only. Frankly I impulse buy. So do most people. If I decided I want a new look, I don't want to have to send you an email, wait for you to respond, possibly change my order cause you can't make something, then wait for you to make time in your schedule to make it, then have to stop whatever I'm doing to meet you and pick it up. Sorry but I won't bother with all that, I'll just keep wearing the same old togs I got on now.

3) Pester the devs for new clothing! Cripes but we need some capes, knee length boots, more dresses, more addons and decorations for the clothes we got. It would be really cool if you folks could add faction symbols and such to clothes. I know I'd probably pick up a few more shirts with and without symbols.

4) Pester the devs for more clothing with positive enhancements. First off you need to be able to add the present bio enhancements to all clothing. Nothing bites more than wanting a particular look and finding out you can't have it cause the shirt you want can't hold your doc enhancements.

New ehancements: there are all kinds of small boosts that could be added to clothing to make them more useful to players. Terrain Negotion, weapon use mods, ect. The devs have already shown this can be done with the themepark clothes. My one suggestion would be that each piece can't have more than +5 or so. Meaning you'd need a full set of clothes to enjoy themaximum+25 bonus.

If I was a tailor, this is what I'd be doing and pushing for. I would not be pushing for taking away my customers items so they have to come to me for more cause all that will do is build resentment. Look at how most people feel about Armorsmiths right now to see what I mean....

Yeah the decay upon death is dumb, I haven't had any clothingget under 50% condition yet either.

For the new mods, yeah why not, but it's more a BE thing and seeing how hard it is to find BEs who bother I don't think it will change much really.

FIRST!! Jess, Keep your tounge in your mouth woman! ick!

Personal Opinion to follow - Disclaimer (probably not alone but in case..)

********************************************************************************

I find all of this talk of SEA's horribly missplaced, in this forum. Everyone will look for an outlett to be heard and for this week or month or however long, it will be our board because these players will not continue to take it where it belongs.. TO THE DEVS!

Please understand, my husband has some of those sky high tapes and plates(he's an architect on one and commando on another) and I have some of those plates. That being said, When you armor wears out and your PLATES are worthless, do you blame your AS?? NO!! Armor decays faster than anything else other than weapons in this game.

Think about it people, for just a minute at least. Customers who use SEA's are the MINORITY, when it comes to the Tailors' Business. We are in desperate need of a change that will affect our profession as a whole and use based decay with items that are no longer usable is that answer.

Tailors did NOT - price SEA's, just as Armorsmiths did not.

Tailors did NOT - make them unremovable or permanent ... just as AS's had nothing to do with plates.

If you are coming to this forum to complain about your precious tapes being lost.. you are barking in the wrong place.. personally, I did not implement thier use and I donot care what affect clothing decay will have on them. What you pay for the tapes and how you use them is YOUR responsibility. If you want a change.. then make it happen.

Unfortunately, the truth is that those that are lazy will just come here to blame and complain instead of being constructive and going to the Dev's with their concern's and possible solutions.

********************** again all a personal opinion....

Woot!! I can't wait!! I want EWOKS on my undies!!

I really don't think we'll see this, or that there needs to be any additional incentives for people to wear clothing. This was predicted last fall and it never happened. I think there's already plenty of embarrasment associated with being in your underpants because it implies that a) you don't care about your toon's appearance, and b) you lack the ability to generate the meager funds needed to supply your toon with clothing.
