Thread: With decay comes underpants: discuss

Ok I agree with decay on principle but I can see a large proportion of the community "blaming" us for when the patch goes live and suddenly a lot of their multi million credit enhanced items not working anymore. I don't much look forward to use-based decay. I have a couple of outfits, tailoring and dancing as I don't do combat, which I've spent a long time buying the tapes for. If tapes were easy to get hold of then they wouldn't be so expensive and replacing them wouldn't be quite such a problem.

Also those who think the sudden addition of decay will make tapes less desirable might be right but there's also another factor. With decay the turnover of tapes is going to be a lot higher, that might mean greater demand and higher prices as you'll get those who are new and want the tapes along with those who need fresh tapes as theirs have decayed. As if the tape prices were inflated enough already I don't want to imagine it then.

With use based decay what are we talking about as well? Length of time you can wear the item? Number of times you can equip it? If it's time then buffbots, people with large inventory space needs or people who only want one outfit will complain. If it's number of times it's equiped then people with lots of outfits, me included, will complain. I don't see an easy way around this at the moment.

I hope the wookiee life day robe will be exempt and wedding rings! No one wants their wedding rings or special gifts to decay. I personally am not in favor of decay, but then again I have been tailoring since day one and have a nice nest egg in my bank account.

No point in whining about tapes in clothing since there are armor tapes too. Andperhaps people forgot, but armor decays very fast when in use while clothes will only decay on death.

And if its really valuable to you, why are you risking it with death? I am against the decay-on-use idea though. Only powerups function on that and they are very easy to replace, nothing like an expensive suit that takes months to assemble.

I wasn't debating this. I was just saying that having someone arrested now for not wearing clothing is perhaps going too far.

They fixed decay on clothing. Good enough for now. Wait and see how that goes before suggesting that the imperials shoot you for walking around nekkid. Not to mention that it would be another year before they got around to doing that, considering how long decay hasn't worked out for clothing. Nobody I know actually likes running around in the underwear that is already in the game.

I no longer care what the rest of the game thinks of me as a tailor—I've been slapped in the face too many times by players who view me as their personal craftslave and devs who seem to want to reinforce that view. So now we're even—you're mad because you're going to lose millions of credits in SEAs, and I'm mad because I've been treated as the bottom rung of crafting since my first day as a tailor. I want the problems with my profession fixed and to be brutally, totally honest I don't care how many millions of credits in SEAs it costs you or any other player.

I know what it is like to want to lash out, I was a DE for about 10 months. Then I mastered musician. You aren't the only one who feels like they are second rate citizens, believe me. But the wookiees are going to have a different point of view than most, simply because we have all of about 8 different things we can wear.

My point, once again, is to make it fun first. My clothes wearing out? Sure, that's fine because that's what happens to my clothes. But if I sew some sort of enhancement on my hood, and I tear my hood, the attachment doesn't necessarily need to be ripped. My clothes are destroyed? I get new clothes. But I do I really need to get new pins and patches too?

You know, if it were up to me I wouldn't have SEA's at all. It concerns me that tailors aren't in the loop for something that is so completely integral to clothing that it is destroyed when the clothing wears out, yet requires no skill whatsoever to integrate. I don't know why SEA's couldn't be schematics. Especially since they are going to wear out. Or why Tailors can't just have more options like with the BE enhancements.

But you know, whatever. I am a wookiee. I usually have to special order anything I am going to wear, becauseonly the besttailors actually stock wookiee garb. It is even harder to find BE enhanced wookiee garb, and then I get to pick the color on my shoulder pad, from what I understand to be a limited color palette. I really don't need to be alienated any further, thank you.

3) More expensive. The Imperial Crackdown: an elite corps of the stormtroopers (i.e. the fashion police) should fine people for appearing in public indecently unclad. I'm only half joking on this one.

ROFLMAO!!!!!- Make a new type of NPC stormtrooper - "Fashion Police" to enforce this

There's more to Tailoring than money, at least for me I get such a sense of satisfaction on the days I sell the most clothing, it's fun tosellmy latest creations And I'm not selling things as quickly as I was the first couple of months of the game. I know some of you are selling just as much as you ever have and that's very nice for you (really no need to tell me again), but some of us are casual playersand don't have a hugecustomer base.

Shortly after launch people bought clothesbecause they didn't have any, and they wanted to look good. I don't believe that willchange. Remember how many silly people threatened to run around in their underwear when thedeath decay system went in? Before anyone even knew it was broken there was no mass underwear wearing as had been claimed People care more about their character's looks than the color of their droid or vehicle. And I'd warrant to say that it'seasier to find some clothing for sale than acolorization kit (at leastI can neverfind the silly things).

Remember when the ability for guys to beshirtless went in? Everyone was panicking saying that all the guys would be running around like that. I maybe see one every few weeks. People will keep on buying ourclothes...

I've got a Wookiee toon as well, and I was just bemoaning not being able to wear anything under/with armor last night (ended up deciding not to wear the leggings in favor of a Sigiled Waist Wrap—looks indecent without the wrap anyway.) But really none of this is the point, nor is it our concern. SEA functionality is something that should be taken up in Core Systems. As you rightly pointed out, we don't have a thing to do with them. As far as the life day robes go, it would be nice if they were treated like SE goggles and Geonosian rebreathers—never decayed. After all, they're purely aesthetic and they're irreplaceable, same as the goggles. Of course, that might entail a no-drop/no-trade restriction…who knows.

As Kwee said, it really doesn't have much to do with money—for starters, I've got a nice sum stashed away myself, and a rediculous number of rare loot items I could auction off if I ever got low. What it's about, to me, is the principle of fixing the bugs that matter to us as well as the "bugs" we don't want fixed. After the socketing change there needs to be balance, and this is as good a place to start as any.

Wedding rings don't decay on death by the way hehe.

I love all your ideas, even the last one really. It's kinda sad to get to that when people who have sometimes millions in bank are too cheap to buy clothes for 1k though.

And for the brutal post... I couldn't agree more.

A couple of weeks ago, I would have thought fining people for being nekked was ridiculous.

But lately on TC I've heard rumor of people being fined for /emoting stormtroopers. I have yet to test this myself, but I've been roaming the countryside, trying to find a stormtrooper to /lick. If the crackdown has been expanded, then yes, I think it would be sorta fun for them to catch people in their undies and charge them a nominal fee. If the imperial crackdown isn't expanded, then it would probably be out of line.

In DAOC, the highlanders of albion all wore boxers with little hearts on them under their kilts. For some reason they really made my day. Of course Darth Vader underoos would crack me up too.

Well glad I got an armorsmith/tailor friend. I wont be buying any clothes. As it was I did anyway just to change fashion but not to satisfy your desires of wealth. I dont care about skill tapes as I dont spend millions of credits on anything. I feel if I cant get the stuff myself I dont deserve having it when it comes to loot items.

If you really want tokeep return business Id suggest a little more thought into whats good for your customer though. Maybe decay is a start but really I think you should push for tailors themselve being able to put craftable enhancements in clothes such as resists to damage types or anything but have charges and come back for that reason, instead of returning all pissed that their million credit items are gone. (which I dont know why they spend like that)

Just my 2 cents but hey, if you want unhappy customers going and just buying novice crap, fine.
