Thread: Nivea's Outfits Pricing Compilation
oh and one guy came into my house and said the prices were high but then I explained what you guys say about how they can easily run missions and such.
then he smiled and bought over 3k of stuff from me.
I haven't looked at the guide yet but I will, been looking to find out what to charge. 700 for a duster? It's people selling stuff that cheap that will drive the market down into a hole. Lets all pull together and keep the prices reasonable so we can all make livings as tailors
.
Thanks Nyarei for compiling the pricing guide and thank you Nivea for sharing it. Some of my items are priced the same and some a bit less. Also, I'm still working up the field wear line. Nivea, did you charge these prices before you became a master? just curious.
take care,
Kyllara
Customers should pay more to have a MASTER tailor make an item than a novice, simply because the master will not have as much time on their hands since they have sooooo many orders and customers and clothes to make to keep in stock. You are paying for their time and energy to make you that outfit that you have always wanted. If you take a look around, many tailors simply quit or stop taking custom orders all together because of the large amount of orders.
I spent about 10 hours yesterday filling old orders and restocking everything that sold on my vendors. I want to get that down to 3 or less.
I just bought a large house which I plan to move into in about a month, farther from the city. That is another thing, place close to a major city with your vendor house. You will get more customers that way since they are willing to travel that far. Once you are known and have a good customer base, then move out into the countryside by a lake or mountain or your guild hall, your long-time customers would still be willing to go out to your place, even if they have to jog for 5 mins ( I hope
charge what you want. do you want to sell 100 items to get 100,000 credits? or would it be easier to sell 50 items to get 100,000 credits? i personally prefer the latter.
also, i'll never undersell the master level stuff. If you want to wear a bikini, or a flightsuit, to live out your role playing fantasies, you're gonna pay for it. if you underprice it the item becomes not rare enough, not special, etc.
i sell fleshwraps at 12k because i think its a fair price and i cant keep them in stock at that price. yes its alot for a dancer, but then again every noob ass dancer in the game shouldnt be wearing them either =)
Speaking as a non tailor...and a style junkie
The prices in the guide are fair, more than fair. I really don't understand how crafters put up with the stress, the boredom and the carpal tunnel syndrome /grin. I will however always be glad to pay for the personal touch.I do tend to frequent tailors who role-play a bit more than non role-players but when it comes down to it. I respect the dedication it takes, and that is worth a little extra. I feel the same way for weaponsmiths and armorsmiths. So you can buy a duster off the bazaar for 750..it was probably pulled off the dead body of a mauler(eww poor personal hygiene) for me that craftsman touch is worth the extra credits. Just one commando's opinion.

i have been thinking about pricing alot, thank you nivea and nyarei for your work! i am going to adopt niveas pricing for myself. for anybody that thinks the prices are too high, are you paying for your training from a tailor trainer? ihave with the exception of one skill box (i asked a very nice person where the tailor trainer was - she told me then offered to train me whenshe had time.i waited for her and tipped her)and its quite expensive. i will have to run missions tonight to pay for formal wear iv. i was never selling anything cheaper than the highest item was selling on the bazaar as i did not want to undercut anybody, however i originally thought niveas prices were too high.now im broke but im happy running missions to support myself. for those people that dont want to run missions, why should they?to the people that think these prices are too high and will sell for less, if you are not paying for your training but are getting trained by someone else then you have an obligationas far as im concerned, to not undercut them. i will not be happy training someone for free or for a small tip so that they can turn around and sell master items for 5k while i will sell them for a minimum of 10k. i refuse to sell anything cheaply because other people are or because people think i should. if these prices are too high ill tailor for myself and my friends and leave it at that. 10k too much for a master item? after spending over 100k in training to get there? i dont think so.
as you said, it's a free market.
I don't charge as much as others, but honestly if I could, then I would. Each area economy is different. Could I be making more? I don't know...i'm still trying to establish a reputation as a customer service oriented tailor. Perhaps I'm selling myself short. In time, as I advance, I can definately see raising my prices (I only have Field 1), but right now, I factor the matierls and hides(1.5 times- because I have to spend time getting them), and mulitply that by a factor of 5 or 6. Then I look at the coolness factor, like smocks and see that i consistantly sell them for 1500. Gradually all my prices are raising as i make new levels of items, but I still cut full outfit deals. And honestly, dusters, whenever I get them, I will be glad not to have to custom those. Black..i'll just load them in my vendor. They are lame and way overused right now. I'm more into the actually looking unique phase right now. I'd rather spend my time grinding out nice looking unique outfits than grinding out 20 black dusters (if i could). I want my customers to stand out...not look like every other duster wearing warrior.
To give you all an idea of my prices, I charge 3k for Gunman's dusters, about 3k for the Fashon IVgowns, 2400 for Cloaks (Yes I know I could get more, but they don't sell for some reason) 1260 for a Light Bustier, 4650 for the Master Flightsuits, and 5710 for Robes of Honor.
That's 10-20 or more credits per resource used depending on the resource, plus costs for factory parts. and a per component charge. That's easily more than it takes me to make each item. I'm not making millions yet, but I've only had Master for 2 days. I figure I'll work my prices up. My next caclulations will be probably 1.5 times more than what I'm currently charging, but even at current prices, I make a HUGE profit. When I can afford to buy 150k worth of Extractors / generators per day, and still see a rise in my bank account of 300k in the past 2 days, I don't know why I should charge more.
I really don't think it's worth fighting over. Customer loyalty is very common I've found, it's all about who can corner the most of the market. If my average sale is Pants, shirts, boots, hat, and duster in 2 -3 colors each... That adds up to huge figures per customer. Plus you have to take into account somewhere that there are always new people joining that are broke. Those are the people that see prices of 10k + for every item I sell, then theygo run off stating not to shop at my place cause I charge way to much. If you appeal to everyone, they all come back. Besides, if there is to much money, aren't Tailors part of the problem when they have 15 million in their bank accounts? It's something to think about. I've had zero complaints so far, including from the server's first master who's very own PA hall shop is 30 seconds from my first shop. He's got his loyal customers, and we regularly refer customers back and forth.
