Thread: Tailoring Technical Issues (v3.1)

Good point!
Let's start calling inability to raise cloak hoods a Technical Issue as opposed to listing it as a wish-list item.

You never know, maybee there's just a typo somewhere or an unpointed to peice of code that give a cloaks radial meenu a "raise hood" option.

NPCs certainly do have cloaks up sometimes.

Maybe we'd get better results to include it on a Technical Issue list as opposed to putting it in art wishlists which probably get much less attention or which most likely goes to the art department anyway.

Grand Healers Robe being Female only. I can see with fleshwraps and dresses but i dont see why this paticular robe needs to be sex based

It isn't really a art wishlist. The art exists. I've tried quite a few commands like /hoodup but to no avail I can see it now: The art department gets it, wonders why since they are in the game, and then goes to something else.

Hm, could have sworn I submitted this bug MONTHS ago, with much the same information. I guess it's all about the venue...

At any rate, since I made my post here, I found out in another thread on this board that the necklace *is* getting rendered in that screen... but the HEIGHT is wrong. If you spin it around just right, you can see a portion of the necklace at the very top of the window. There's a screenshot of this here.

Add to graphical glitches: granted, maybe men shouldn't wear hot pants, but on males (human ones anyway) the hip bones poke through when wearing hot pants. Makes it even scarier than it already is...

There shouldn't be sex restrictions period. Either for role playing (what is wrong with cross dressing?) or just because some "female only" things don't look female only, like the Grand Healer Robe, but there isn't a good reason.

A technical error might be that you can't raise the hood on your cloak. I see NPC's with their hoods up, so it IS in the game. I'd find it... stupid if a hood up/down cloak were seperate clothing items. I want a **edit** hood, but being neither wookiee nor female I can't have one. Correction, I have a cloak, just can't put it up.

Since you're quoting me, it seems you took my joke about maybe males shouldn't wear hot pants as some sort of suggestion of a hard-coded restriction. Let's face it, if there are *no* restrictions, there's still items that guys just shouldn't wear. I mean, have you *seen* some of those guys out there in hot pants? If we can't be fashion critics, what's the point to being a tailor?

That quote sounds more like you only care if unattractive males wear hot pants. I don't see why there should be restrictions at all. A fashion critic isn't the same job as a tailor.

When you say "restrictions," I'm assuming you're talking about hard-coded restrictions within the game world. In real life, there's nothing that physically prevents a guy from wearing a bikini or a short skirt... but most don't, because we have social norms that prevent it. Besides, they often look really, really silly that way. Same is true in the game world, whether attractive or not... a big butch human with a cleft in his chin and a twinkle in his eye looks pretty funny in hot pink hot pants, though in a different way than a rolly-polly twi'lek whose hot pants match his lekku. Perhaps there shouldn't be hard-coded restrictions, but we're going to carry much of our ingrained social conformity into the game anyway, and most guys will still look funny in most hot pants.

I'm not saying they shouldn't be capable of wearing them, just that they should have the taste not to in most situations. ;-)

Yes I mean hard code. The same hardcode that doesn't let me wear a Grand Healer Robe so I could get a hood. (Though I wouldn't want my ass showing anyway ) Then again, if there were no hard code things, the items probably would have horrid clipping on men. And you know there are cross dressers in the real world."Social norm" is one of the worst phrases I can think of.

Add another pair of graphical glitches to the Grand Healer's Robe: bracelets (bangles and metal band for sure) and necklaces (emerald pendant for sure) don't layer correctly, and are only partially visible. IMHO, all jewelry should layer on top of all clothing (except maybe the heavier gloves, but even then…) If I didn't want it to be visible, I would unequip it. It's really a shame this garment has so many glitches—I finally got around to picking it up last night and it looks awesome. Even though my butt pokes out the back when I sit on the floor I still love it and intend to use it to replace my old field gear…I just hope it gets fixed soon so I don't have to be as careful about where and when I sit

Oh, uniform boots clip through the back of the robe as well, but I suppose I really shouldn't be wearing boots with it anyway—got rushed out of my tailor's shop to meet some guildmates before I had time to get shoes to match…

Graphical glitches for noble skirt: thighs clip through the front of the skirt while running. Less bad when walking, but still bad. Skirt gapes when seated on a chair or similar, looks rather…inapropriate.

Must add a graphic glitch onto the list with the new Chef's Apron (maybe just a wookie thing):

When I, a wookie, wear both the Chef's Apron and Wookie Arm Wraps my hands disspear and the arms sockets are hollow. Haven't tried any of the other arm wraps yet and dunno if its just a wookie thing or not.
