Thread: I've had it
I've paid for every single tree of my tailoring, and I have 1 left do to and should master by Wednesday if I want to grind hard enough.
I just went and made myself unsearchable last night because while trying to move from Talus to another planet I was getting searched out and bothered every 5 or so minutes and it wasn't just one tell it was like this to me with 20 second waits between /tell

I play back & forth with them telling me role play doesn't count in tells, which I won't breack character in, and end it with this statement in character "you wanna see where me bought me trainin's at??"
They get the hint then when I offer them a trainer I won't train them. lol

Sure thing, mate. I'll direct the ungrateful ones right to you. I'm not complaining about the 5 seconds it takes. I'm complaining about how I was treated after that! I don't think you'd be very bloody pleased if you just trained someone to master and she whipped out her droid in YOUR shop andproceeded to make clothes for YOUR customer, now would you???? Then to find she's put her shop about 500m from yours and starts advertising on the boards that she's undercutting? On top of the other rude, obnoxious behaviour I've put up with from some novice tailors. Sheesh.. read the post. I never complained about the time it takes to do it! And apprenticeship points? I've trained at LEAST two novices a day since making master... close to 3 months ago. Trust me, app points are not needed. And if they were, I'd still not want them from people who are disrepectful to me!

I devote myself full time to my tailoring and customer service. I was the third master on our server. I work my arse off to give top notch customer service. I'm waaaay outside of Coronet. People come from Naboo, Talus, Tatooine... because I give them personal attention and (here's the big one) I treat everyone with respect. My prices aren't the cheapest around. Nor are they the most expensive. My customers come to me because of what I offer. Not only do they find me there to personally greet them and help find what they need, but there are a high level droid engineer, a master arch (who's also a master tailor), a master bio-engineer, a master weaponsmith, a high level armoursmitih, a high level chef, and there are spices and stims on a vendor as well. I work hard to keep that up and running so that customers have a unique place to shop. I hire entertainers on weekends so that people waiting have music to listen to and can get healed. You CAN get 12 deep in customers, but it takes a heck of a lot of work.
Seki, thank you for the kind words. I do realize I've made a name for myself on Valcyn. And I don't take that for granted. No matter how busy I get, I still treat people with respect and kindness. I'm not really worried about her taking much business from me. A great number of my customers are loyal to the death. I'm not going to suddenly starve because of her. I just find it EXTREMELY disrespectful. I realize I'm older than most folk who play SWG, so maybe I was raised a bit different. But the one thing I can't stand is disrespect... to anyone. I just dont' need the bother of being treated like crap by someone when I'm saving them a small fortune on training fees. I expect novices to have lower prices than mine, I even tell customers who really can't afford to buy that duster or whatever from me that they might have better luck with a novice who needs the exp and can therefore lower their prices. I pay maintance on a PA Hall, I pay maintance on four factories, I've lost count of the harvesters,I buy materials. I have no fighting skills because I have mastered artisan, tailor and merchant (well, 2 boxes to go on merch).And I dont have time to run missions and give theservice I want to give my customers. You want a really unique shopping experience, come visit me... but don't expect bargain basement prices.
And if you really want training... treat me with some respect. I don't expect youto grovel at my feet or anything like that. I expect the words "please" and "thank you". And I don't expect you to take my customers while you are in my shop or to advertise you're undercutting me on the boards. Okay, the advertising thing bothered me a lot less than the other, but still....

When I was still learning my tailoring I'd do a search for tailors and send them a tell stating, "Hello, I'm a tailor and I was wondering if you could teach me skill X if I come to your location and pay you 1000 credits?"
It seemed to work pretty well. They didn't seem to mind, when I'd travel to where they were. I'd try to tell them how far I was also so they weren't kept waiting, like I'd put in the coordinates and then say, "It will take me a couple minutes to run there, I'm about 1.8km away now," or something like that.
Then if I got there and they were busy I'd tell them that I'd wait until they were done seeing to their customers.
They were doing me a service and I tried to treat them as such. Paying them 1000 credits or so each time (sometimes they tipped it back!) saved me a lot of cash, so it didn't bug me at all to offer.
word. i bought almost all of my skills. i did missions till my fingers bled to get the money to train. if you need training, you can buy the darn skills yourself too. i only train select people, but i refuse most.
i also hate it when people who know me say, hey i'm becomming a tailor, give me 3k polymer! um, no... i slaved over my extractors to get where i am today, i think they can work at it too!!

I agree completely grandma! *cough* Er, I mean, ma'am. 
I don't think age has anything to do with it. It's more a matter of being raised right. And maybe the fact that we're Brits! (Though I am transplanted.) Courtesy and respect are part of being given the proper upbringing. The facts that many people playing probably aren't done being brought up yet, and aren't being brought up right, are probably co-conspirators in this shoddy behaviour. But you know what? Both adults and teens alike are more likely to want to deal with an adult than some punkarsed, undercutting, no-thanks-for-trainingjerk, and the ones that don't deserve the 'service' and 'respect' they get from them.
I personally give everyone a one strike train. First training is free. If you say "thank you", or even "thanks", I'll train you again for free. Heck, if you say "ty", I'll say, "Pardon?" and train you again if you say "thanks". 
And, yes, if you tip anything, then I'll train you, too. If you don't, that's it. Ask me again and I'll be too busy. It's not my job to train these punks to be polite, refined adults. I'll just punish them if they aren't.

but i know how it is to be knee deep it customer (granted it was only 4 but that was pressure ok!?) but jesus i couldnt imagine having 12 on me! I think novice tailors really should rethink about being so demanding when asking for training, i mean your not obligated to train them..i mean there IS a NPC trainer if you wanna be rude...
so far i train everyone who asks for free (only way i can repay my trainers who im very very grateful they trained ME for free =) )but if i started getting evil novices i wouldnt either...
Speaking as a Novice Tailor (3-3-3-3), I can completely understand where the masters are coming from. My training has come pretty much 50/50 as far as from other tailors and NPC's. I have always been given compliments on the way I have asked for training (i.e. "Excuse me, if you are not too busy at the moment, could you take a moment to train me in <random tailor skill here>" and if after a few minutes and getting no response "You must be busy, sorry to have bothered you"). Usually common courtesy goes a long way. I was amazed the other day when I asked a fellow tailor for training in Tailoring III and after all was said and done, kicked him a tip for 8K...his jaw hit the floor. The way I look at it is if I'm qualified for training, I'm getting it one way or another and if I have the cash anyways, I may as well give it to a person who could use it a hell of a lot more than an NPC. So moral of the story, don't write off every Novice Tailor as a po-dunk jackass...some of us are quite pleasant and easy to get along with =)

That is very cool Taimak, but nah, you are the exception that proves the rule, lol. I've trained countless people in elite professions (bio engineer, architect, merchant, tailor) and my grand total in tips, and if you added up all the tips I've ever recieved it's probably under 2k, and most of the time there is no acklowledgement at all that I just offered a free 6k-10k service.
I think the biggest part of the problem is that when people see people (usually scouts) begging to train people, and even paying to train people in the noob skill ranks, that sets a precident that training someone ought to be free and ought to be at the convenience of the trainee, not the trainer.
