I've had it with training novice tailors. I'm sorry tothe two or threewho have been decent, but I'm done for now. I'm abused and used on a daily basis by people wanting free training. Forget it. Just don't ask me anymore. I'm the nicest person you could meet and I have always trained other tailors for free. Not anymore. No more showing up at my shop when I'm 12 deep in customers and demanding to be trained. No more telling me it's my "job" to train you. No more getting trained and running off without so much as a thank you. No more moaning at me because I don't play the same hours you do and can't train you the very instant you qualify for the next level. And most of all.. no more taking my customer in my own dam shop. And I'm just not training another tailor so she can set up shop right by me and undercut me... then advertise she's undercutting on the boards. The last twofrom a tailor I've not only trained, but sent customers to when I've been very busy or was logging (I live in the UK so I log early).

I've HAD it! If you are a novice on Valcyn, don't even bother asking. Others have ruined my good nature for you. I had already started refusing people who couldn't be arsed to say "please". Now I'm refusing everyone. No more Ms. Nice Tailor. Find someone else to walk all over.

Apprenticeship xp is only valuable if you're not already a master. From the sounds of it, the poster probably has plenty. I've always generally thought that training should be more of an apprenticeship model where I pick a few people that I'm willing to teach as time goes on, not that I spam in the square that I can teach X, Y, and Z, and asking if ne1 cna taech me l33t sk1llz. :-P Remember, the person training you has just saved you 5k+....a thank you wouldn't be out of place.

There is only so much stuff you can master once you are a master tailor really. I've had enough apprenticeship points since I hit tailor for 2 more professions just training people asking me for tailoring skills. And I've been where Nalinya is as well, and yes it's getting old fast to train people for free when 2 weeks later they are competing with you openly in the cantina or just in bazaar. So a little respect from them isn't much to ask.

Gee, I wish I was 12 customers deep. Try moving your shop, I'm out at Lake Retreat on Naboo and I only see one or two customers a day. I'm not out to make a ton of cash so it works great for me. Take a deep breath and ask them to wait until you have the time, if they don't want to wait, direct them to the Tailor Trainer where they can pay for their training.

For what it's worth to ya, even in my neck of the woods, everyone knows who Nalinya is.. You have earned a great deal of respect, and I don't see that changing, just because you got a Clothes Barn Bargain Basement set up near by... One person can only make so many clothes, and those who choose to slap things together to feed the drooling masses who want black cloaks and dusters will attract those very people who you would probably rather not deal with anyway... And, you will have more time to spend with your loyal customers who appreciate and value your time and talent.. At this point in the game, credits are a moot point.. You can only buy so many things... The real treasure is in enjoying what you do, and I think you and I have both won that prize.. So someone else gets to make 10 dozen black dusters and sell them over and over again for cheap to people who probably don't appreciate it anyway.. We get to take our time, and make actual outfits for our customers, and know they will walk away happy.. Hang in there hun.. You've made a name for yourself, and that's not going to change..

I couldnt agree with you more and I sympathise totally. I get numerous tells during a day that go along the lines of:

"Hi I need training, where are you?"

Now excuse me, I would *never* have spoken to a Master Tailor who I was asking for training from in that way. 90% of my training I paid for from the NPCs. There was a Master Tailor by Theed who would teach me for half the NPC training cost and I used her sometimes but as Im a European player, I was normally out of luck. Towards the end of the skill boxes I was lucky enough to meet Natalia online one day and she did teach me my final skills for free.

For the first couple of months of being master, I taught a lot of novice tailors, one of who has now built a shop somewhat close to me and charges extremely low prices. That is, in my opinion, still her choice, I dont get into these pricing arguments, what people charge is upto them in my eyes. I do, however, find it rude considering I always trained her for free. (I have also had this tailor jumping on my "advertising" threads on the server board stating that "she charges less".

I can only sympathise 100% with what you say. I am also an extremely busy tailor. Would I have it any other way? No, its how I like to play the game. I have 3 stores all by busy cities, I take any custom order and I advertise on boards daily. Im not the cheapest tailor on the server by far, but nor am I the most expensive. As with Nalinya, people keep coming back to me because I know that I offer a good service and will go out of my way to make people happy with what they are wearing. I also keep all the rarer resources to ensure there is no item that I cant make. Ive had novice tailors walking into my store when Im with customers, speaking openly in says and bugging me to stop helping x customer and train them. That's rude!

There are some people I will train all the way up to master. These are the people who have always been kind. They have sent me ONE tell asking for training, saying please and if I havent responded within a few seconds, they assume that I am with a customer (not continue to spam me accusing me of ignoring them, being rude etc) But for those who show zero respect, who treat me like it is my job and purpose to be training them and then can't show the smallest bit of decency once they make master, then they can pay the NPC charges like I and many others had to.

Im also amazed at how many novice's will wait weeks to find a tailor who will train them just to avoid the npc charges. Someone wanted training last week (who I did train btw) who had waited 3 weeks to find someone to train her in formal 2. Seriously, it isnt that expensive. I managed to fund my training with zero combat skills, how come they cant? And wait 3 weeks to get new items? Are you crazy? I wanted them there and then not 3 weeks later

Dont feel bad Nalinya, your job is to provide a good service to your customers which you are obviously doing, not cater to the whim of every novice tailor on the server.

I train depending on my mood and how polite the person is to me. the last person i trained I ended up giving a box of synth cloth because he didnt realise he needed a factory, but was ever so polite and friendly.

However, the one before that made me want to strangle him and I ended up not training him at all. I left him waiting by anchorhead shuttleport for half an hour telling him i'd be there in 5 minutes. =D

I completely sympathize with your plight. I have not displayed my Master Tailor flag since becoming overwhelmed with training requests. The worst part was the requestors wanted me to travel to them…yeah right.

I train anyone who asks for free. I have a few people who we all mutually train each other as we have leveled. I had a guy saying he wouldn't because of competition.It isn't like you will somehow secure the market and keep them from progressing by not doing it.

This doesn't seem like a matter of 'not training the competition', but of the folks in question not being polite enough to wait for a few minutes. I must admit, I've been very fortunate -- the two wonderful tailors I've trained on Scylla have always been good enough to wait until I've finished the order of the customer I'm with at the time....and that this is not a matter of "I want to get the money from this person", but rather "they've been waiting all this time, and I want to make the outfit they want...and get it right." One in particular waited two hours to get Master Tailor, because I wasn't on at the time, and she wanted to celebrate the achievement with me.

When someone is saving you upwards of 5k in training, and particularly when that person doesn't need apprentice points from it, it doesn't seem so difficult to show a little patience -- after all, they are doing you a favour.

I am Nalinya's Master Tailor partner-in-crime. I will train you if you are polite. I have never refused training but I have been lucky in this respect. Nal, just direct the bozo's to me if I am online. And a note to the few trangressors. If you start customer stealing in the CMA Hall it will result in ejection and a permanent ban. Rudeness will not be tolerated. If you think this is just too serious an attitude for you then shop and train elsewhere.

Well, you may think it's a jerky thing to do, but if you charge for training then you clear out the bozos without ever having to deal with them. When I get a /tell from someone, I /tell them back that yes I will train them but I feel it's only fair for them to pay me something since they will technically be my competition. If they're a jerk, they won't want to pay, and you didn't even waste your time meeting them. I've found most people have no problem paying 1 or 2K for an elite box however. And peeyo, if you're already a master, how is apprentice XP worth anything to you? Just wondering. I've been maxxed on apprentice XP for weeks now, so if I train someone I am getting absolutely nothing except a possible competitor on my doorstep. And yes, there are always others. Thank you for taking the riffraff off my hands.
