Thread: What is our role in the GCW?
What do you see as the tailor's role in the GCW?
Yes, primarily we are uniform makers however i believe there are untouched possibilities here. Component Crafting for Factional Items (see below for details on how this would work) Also perhaps making armor fit properly to provide a lower encumberance.
What specifically do you want to be able to do for your faction (that you can't currently do, or you want to see enhanced)?
I would like to see an optional role that we could pick up from a faction recruiter. This would very much be a faction proffession avialble to tailors upon completion of mastery in our art. Becomming a factional tailor you are instantly given to your data pad the ablitiy to create unlimited number of factional uniforms (those that choose not to do this would still be able to purchase a limited use schematic for FP from the recruiter) Once you are a factional tailor this opens the door to many alternate possibilities i would like to think. Much like the Stat Migration of an ID that is going into effect it would be nice to have a "Tailored Fit" to an item. With this it would take armor (any form but the benifits would be greater for factional armor) and reduce the encumberance of it when worn by the user. Now not to take away from smugglers this armor would have to be equiped while we performed this action and it would only lower the encumb FOR THAT USER. Also i would like to see 'needle' weapons implimented and only availble to factional tailors would be the limited use schematic (thus making this an option on top of an option) and we would craft the needles for the guns as a component during manufacture.
What do you not want to do?
I do not want to be forced into anything. Options and open ended abilities is key here, hence the above mentioned options. The schematics that are limited use and obtained from a recruiter not only make it so that you are desired by the community of your faction but also get you into the point where you need to continue to get FP if you desire to produce these on a regular basis. Again please note that to get my proposed needle component you would first have to opt to become the Factional Tailor then on top of that you would need to purchase the limited use schematic for the Needle Components. Thus making it a complete option and not something you are forced into upon joining a faction.
Any additional comments??
No real additional comments, just hope that these ideas can be taken with an open minde which i have no doubt they will be as i have seen many tailors on this board capable of. Again the key to anything getting us more involved in the GCW is OPTIONAL just because you join the faction doesn't mean you want to be forced into a role.
I didn't read everyone's posts so this may have been stated but...
They really should add faction specific clothes. Schems that you can buy from a faction recruiter, and that maybe only that faction can wear. It would be cool if they had some bonuses, like maybe a Rebel Hat that gave a certain skill mod, maybe you could choose from a small list of skill mods when you made this item. You could go further and the devs could develop faction missions to aqquire all the resources and comps to make these items.
Also, they could make Tailors involved with PVPers or people who like combat by making cool missions that involved us. Maybe one quest will involve going into an Imperial prison, but you need a disguise, only a master tailor can make the disguise. But first you have to run a bunch of mini quests to aqquire the parts to make the disguise. I think it could be really cool, and really easy too. (to add I mean)

Well I know what you mean. But they wouldn't be random loot drops. You'd just grab the mission that goes with that schem and when you did the mission it gave you the comp. It wouldn't be random.

Still problematic. These would likely not be missions tailors could run, furthering the "craft slave" mentality of "here's everything you need, make me my product cheap!" I know I don't apreciate folks like that…do you?

That is true, unless they made crafter/entertainer type missions. Instead of killing, it might be a puzzle or some type of little mystery you have to solve or something to that extent. For the record I hate that we have to try to get random loot drops, and I hate those guys who want stuff for free. I just think some things in this game could be more cool if it had more depth to it.

Yes, I'll use this as my "what I don't want" item, lol. I don't want anything where I'd be dragged to the bottom or some dungeon to make some new cool item for somebody else's benefit. Nor do I want anything like the Jabba/themepart stuff that makes me into a crafting machine.
I am ok with the idea of gaining faction schematics through recruiters in exchange for faction points though (but it should be tailors only that can get clothing schematics. The last thing I want is to be bidding a gazillion credits for them from some master TKA). If worst comes to worst I can always run inter-planetary delivery missions since I have no combat skills.

*pout* i made a very good post and no one discusses it, just the ones of people who say "i didn't read the whole thread [because i'm lazy] buuuut" blah =[
That's because I couldn't figure out a non-flaming way of saying "Needle guns?? What the hell are you smoking, and where can I get some?!" I like the point about options—none of this should be forced. But…needle guns?!

Hehe, was thinking the same thing. Also, i'm sure armorsmiths would be real happy with our being able to adjust encumb but they can't? I'm w/ you on the idea that anything and everything we do re: factions must be option high.
Goldfish, i liked your idea about mission that involved a disguse only obtainable by a master tailor. I would hate to have the componets tied to another mission however. Just regular boring old components would be fine, then a master tailor could simply sell "Rebel disguse" or "Imperial disguse" on a factional vendor so the gun-bunnies could buy them in order to complete their mission/quest.
If we had factional schemes a tailor could have a regular vendor selling clothes, and a factional vendor selling uniforms, disguses, factional casual wear, what ever.
