I also tested this myself with me being 255 Base melee defense and 235 base ranged defense.

With CA's, Rings, and BE clothes I was up to 312 in each and I was still taking the same damage and getting hit the same.

CoB and Aura skills work to raise this but currently CAs, Food, and Modded Clothes do nothing.

I still plan on testing this on someone with very low melee defense to see if maybe there is still some cap in there somewhere.

GOod show and yes not even the freaking Aukan rings work...LOL this is a easy way to test this and guess what I took more hits with the rings on then when off for the 60 second test I did. lol

This is stupid they have this all messed up.

as the melee/range values should be dimishing i thought you could maybe see a difference with low defenses. i am tailor, level 1 and got hit with melee hit, no vibro knucklers, by a tkm/BE level 57.

my melee defense 0 -> dmg taken 420

melee defense with BE cloths 23 -> dmg 420

melee defense with food 100 -> dmg 420

melee defense 123 -> dmg 420

according to tiggs i should take less dmg with higher melee defense. looks like it does not work....

The problems have been reported! Hopefully now that E3 is done a lot of bugs will be ironed out, although with Fanfest coming up it might be busy for just another week. Anyway, things are moving more slowly than I would like but at least they are moving!

No word yet. I know that they know about it but I am not sure of where on the schedule those fixes are.

From the tests that have been done in the Chef, Carbineer, Pistoleer, Jedi, BH, and other forums.....it appears that its not the TISSUES that are not working, but the entire defense system itself.

Melee/Ranged Defense AAs and CAs, Food, BE clothing....none of it does a damn thing as far as any test has shown.

My guess is your tissues are fine, but that the system they are based on is currently not functioning correctly. Just thought I would throw in my two cents. I have or have been a Chef, Tailor, Carbineer, Pistoleer, BH, and a dozen other profs....so this issue is fairly close to home for me as well. If you get the chance though, I would recommend stopping by some of the other profession forums in your spare time. I try to read from many different forums, and the cumulative knowledge that can be found out there is pretty useful. LOL. You just have to sift throught the politics and personalities that each profession brings to their forums. Some forums are cutthroat and mean, others are whimsical (my lord, I love the ranger forums), and others spend nearly every post screaming nerf or foul. Can be an interesting read

I haven't tested the Ranged/Melee, but I did test the TN and it actually seems to work.

My char has no scout at all and at the time of the test, no fs bonus to scout either. Without the clothes on, she 'crawled' up the hill below the theed starport at the usual snail pace. With the clothes on (two of +13), she was able to keep up with a character with 4000 scout. It does seem to help some, not sure about the UA damage tho, since she's TKM and I'm still figuring out all the best ways to kill stuff.

For terrain negotioation, 0-50 is how much going uphill slows you down.

50-100 is your crawl speed.

A character with Scout 4000 has terrain negotian of 40. That means his crawl speed is effectively 0/50 ... same as a non scout.

I am scout 4000 and put on BE clothes to cap at 65. That would mean my crawl speed would be 15/50. However my tests have shown that the BE clothes did not increase my crawl speed at all. Not even if I use the tricks to get Ranged defense from BE to work. Not sure if its the Clothing or the skill itself that is broken. Will need to try some Terrain negotiaon food in furthur testing.

Ranged Defense mod:

Currently if you modify your ranged defense via Food or BE clothes or aakuan rings, etc, it will not take effect unless you do one of the following:

a)die

b)log out for 15 minutes

c)re-equip your weapon (the logical choice)

This is a bug that has been submitted. If you simply swap clothes and run test you wont see a difference unless you do a/b/c above. Furthurmore, if you cap your ranged defense, re-equip your weapon to get it to work ... then you can take the clothes off and you will still have the ranged defense there working. You could theoretically then put on a +17 healing efficiency shirt (this mod works as intended when you take it on/off) .. so it is a possible exploit albeit minor and a hassle to achieve.

The ranged defense mod will reduce the damage taken per shot. For instance Pika thundercloud of ranged defense +88 (when enabled via a/b/c above) will make "ranged shot" from a level 78 marauder do 105 damage to you instead of 114 damage. A BE shirt with +16 ranged defense would have the effect of making "full auto area" from the marauder do 114 damage instead of 116.

This does work but...

I used two characters that had no combat skills whatsoever, all combat skills at 0.

I used just the basic ranged shot with a CDEF pistol (i didnt want to incap ). This did 38 points of damage per shot.

When i equipped all 4 pieces of +16 ranged/melee def clothing and carried out the re-equipping of the weapon, this then reduced the damage by a massive 1 point.

I then tried it again with just 1 piece of clothing and i got the same reduction. I did make sure that the clothing had updated properly. I made sure i was receiving the 38 points of damage in combat and then equipped the clothing. Once i hadcarried out the procedure as listed abovei then received 37 points of damage.

I've made some for my Brawler. Jacking the melee defence to 325 or so. Even wtih that, level 80 mobs still hit every blow.

Cherry, are you stalking me?

I haven't heard anything more on this, dunno if the whole defense thing in general is borked or if it's the clothing.

Last I checked the chef foods adding to melee/ranged defense did no practical in-game effect. I have not checked since Publish 18 to see if a stealth fix went in (which really, really irritate me since they basically mean I have to keep running experiments every publish to see if things got fixed).
