So I got another question, how many male tailors are there in total in SWG? I doubt that many.
Well, I knew a few on Ahazi, but most of them did not stay and were holo-grinders. The few that weren't grinding for jedi, have left the tailoring world.
My tailor character is male and so am I: 235 votes (42.04%)
My tailor character is female but I am male: 111votes (19.86%)
My tailor character is male but I am female: 20 votes (3.58%)
Syzygy (man I hate typing that name, my fingers just don't like y and z, lol)
I hear ya, there's lots of different ways to do pricing, and I don't think that one way is "right" and another "wrong". When I put stuff on the bazaar with the sole purpose to make credits, I focus on the popularity of an item, and then use one years experience as a tailor to know what people will pay for that item. And I can sell stuff that requires almost no materials for 4k-6k and be guaranteed that it will sell within 48 hours. And on my vendor where I want to achieve popularity and respect, not necessarily credits, I price things very differently. But no matter how you slice it, c'mon, are you telling me that you think 10k is anything but an insult for 5 low cut tops and 5 hot pants? I don't care how you do your pricing.
You know, if I was in a cantina, and goofing off, and having fun, and somebody asked me nicely, particularly if they were an aquaintence, I might just make those swimsuits for nothing. Sometimes it's just about having fun and making others happy, cool, I have no problem with that. But if "some guy" came up to me and said "if you make 5 sets I'll pay you a whole 10k" I'd find it impossible not to see that as a real insult. I'd probably tell the guy to "get bent".

(In case you're wondering, I'm one of the male IRL/female IG ones)
Wow, more males playing tailors...
But could that be because there are more males that play SWG than females in general?
Where and when was this taken?
BTW, I am female with female character.
Arthur, heh, you misinterpreted Syzygy... he and I are business partners and have the same price list, and it would be 15k on TC (where everything is MUCH cheaper) for those same items. I think the point we were trying to make is that people will "compare" tailors at the high end, not the low end, and use the fleshwrap (or leotard, etc) as a measuring tape between tailors. If you keep your high-end goods moderate within market values, but you raise your lower-end goods, you will make more money in the long run, because really at least I sell a lot more non-master items than master items, and because the customer believes he's getting a deal on every article of clothing because he only compares the top end items.

Ah, interesting! Hmm, that does make sense. I may try that
Although right now, I honestly try to keep a low profile. High volume is definitely poison to me in my current state.
Oh, and I think the historical argument against charging low prices for master level items is that it is predatory against novice tailors. Novice tailors try to sell their items for a certain price and see masters with better color selections selling fancy master level items for less. But nowadays since novice tailors almost don't exist anymore with everyone getting so good at "power grinding" I suppose this logic no longer applies, lol.
