hehe, well it's not so difficult to find out, just go to his store on his server and find out.

So I got another question, how many male tailors are there in total in SWG? I doubt that many.

Well, I did not actually have a pricing calculator or anything like that for normal clothes. I just did some research and went to different tailors and shops on my server and saw what the going rate was for each itme and went from there. Once I reached master, and made a satisfactory amount of credits I lowered my prices.

For BE clothes I do have a pricing system. Too confusing to type out just now.

As for noobs, I am always helping them out with extra clothes as well as regular cuatomers.

Well, I knew a few on Ahazi, but most of them did not stay and were holo-grinders. The few that weren't grinding for jedi, have left the tailoring world.

Agent44, start a new thread and take a poll. That would be interesting to find out.

From SWGTailor.com:

My tailor character is female and so am I: 193 votes (34.53%)
My tailor character is male and so am I: 235 votes (42.04%)
My tailor character is female but I am male: 111votes (19.86%)
My tailor character is male but I am female: 20 votes (3.58%)

(In case you're wondering, I'm one of the male IRL/female IG ones)

How recent is that poll? Thats so interesting cause I almost never see male tailors anywhere on tat and most of the vendors are owned by female characters.

Syzygy (man I hate typing that name, my fingers just don't like y and z, lol)

I hear ya, there's lots of different ways to do pricing, and I don't think that one way is "right" and another "wrong". When I put stuff on the bazaar with the sole purpose to make credits, I focus on the popularity of an item, and then use one years experience as a tailor to know what people will pay for that item. And I can sell stuff that requires almost no materials for 4k-6k and be guaranteed that it will sell within 48 hours. And on my vendor where I want to achieve popularity and respect, not necessarily credits, I price things very differently. But no matter how you slice it, c'mon, are you telling me that you think 10k is anything but an insult for 5 low cut tops and 5 hot pants? I don't care how you do your pricing.

You know, if I was in a cantina, and goofing off, and having fun, and somebody asked me nicely, particularly if they were an aquaintence, I might just make those swimsuits for nothing. Sometimes it's just about having fun and making others happy, cool, I have no problem with that. But if "some guy" came up to me and said "if you make 5 sets I'll pay you a whole 10k" I'd find it impossible not to see that as a real insult. I'd probably tell the guy to "get bent".

Wow, more males playing tailors... But could that be because there are more males that play SWG than females in general?

Where and when was this taken?

BTW, I am female with female character.

That poll was up for a couple weeks so I think some people voted twice.

Arthur, heh, you misinterpreted Syzygy... he and I are business partners and have the same price list, and it would be 15k on TC (where everything is MUCH cheaper) for those same items. I think the point we were trying to make is that people will "compare" tailors at the high end, not the low end, and use the fleshwrap (or leotard, etc) as a measuring tape between tailors. If you keep your high-end goods moderate within market values, but you raise your lower-end goods, you will make more money in the long run, because really at least I sell a lot more non-master items than master items, and because the customer believes he's getting a deal on every article of clothing because he only compares the top end items.

/sigh

alright, well, I use (slightly modified) Nivia's pricing guide for vendor sales (the old timers will no doubt be familiar with this guide, I probably don't have to really say more, lol). Although I take a couple k off for master level items in face-to-face sales (to encourage that) and don't charge less than 1k for any item no matter how I'm selling it. My bazaar prices are completely different though, like I said. I wouldn't touch a low-cut-top there, not enough profit in it, but I can tell you that my price on hot pants would be 4k on the bazaar (so I'd make 20k on the sale of 5 hotpants alone), although I rarely sell them because they don't give me the kind of sales turnaround that I usually like to see.

Ah, interesting! Hmm, that does make sense. I may try that Although right now, I honestly try to keep a low profile. High volume is definitely poison to me in my current state.

Oh, and I think the historical argument against charging low prices for master level items is that it is predatory against novice tailors. Novice tailors try to sell their items for a certain price and see masters with better color selections selling fancy master level items for less. But nowadays since novice tailors almost don't exist anymore with everyone getting so good at "power grinding" I suppose this logic no longer applies, lol.
