Thread: Socketed Clothing
I have tried a few things to increase my chances to get socketed clothing. I had a new crafting station made with better materials and its at 88% expirementation. I have new and improved clothing and armor tools, with 88+ expirementation. I have tried varying grades and types of materials, still the sockets in my clothing are very few and far between, yet a droid engineer friend gets them on a far more regular basis. What gives? Anyone have a clue on what influences creating socketed clothes?
Kirel,
I have a friend wiho is a droid engineer, not a tailor. He is able to create backpacks basic artisan gloves and belts regularly with 2+ sockets. I don't have near the kind of success with sockets that he does, unless droid engineer experimentation is somehow related to tailoring experimentation.
I am a Master Artisan. I have 11 points in experimentation. Just about Everything I make in the artisan (dom arts) tree has sockets in it.
I am still trying to figure that very question out I am not even a novice tailor yet but whe nMaking most clothing items from the Artisan Domestic Tree I normally get 3 scokets (sometimes two or four) everythign I make has a socket value unless it is Casual Pants... never get sockets on those. I do notice the sockets listing is displayed right after the combine but before experiementation so I am guessing it has something to do with Materials but still varies wildly even when using the same resources on the number of sockets produced so I am guessing a major random element somewhere. For reference the fiberplast I am using has 900's in overall quality and unti toughness but only like 200's for decay resistance in the event that it makes a difference - the alumininum is mid-high range stats all around and hides if used are a little above average on everything except overall quality which is at a sucky 47.
I normally get 10 or expiermentation points but oddly on a maidens dress a domestic IV item I only got oneand no sockets ... strange seems like it is inthe wrong category or something - I have an issue when making reinforced armor panels as well when making the armor I get 10 expiermentation points but I only get 1 point when making the panels - not entirely sure why ... maybe it requires armorsmith for that item even though it is craftable at an earlier stage or maybe it is just bugged.
I believe tailor-item sockets come from the *Clothing Assembly* skill, not experimentation. The reason is because you see the # of sockets on the experimentation screen, and they don't change even if you crit fail or amazingly succeed.
This is why Tailor II is the first one to get sockets - there's a +20 instead of just the +10 that Tailoring I has.
So artisan items will use the Artisan Assembly skill. Therefore, if you want the max sockets there, get Domestic Arts IV and Engineering IV - both have bonuses to it. I almost always get 4 sockets at +100 artisan assembly...
I'm not a tailro, but a friend of mine who is asked the same question. We messed around with crafting for about 2 hours last night until I trained her up the engineering tree to level 4. After this she was making everything with multiple sockets regualry. Our conclusion was that the added artisan assembly ranks from engineering allowed her to make socketed items.
Maybe...Maybe not,
Ahk.
When you hit Novice Tailor your ability to make sockets is taken back to nill. Must train up the tailoring tree to have that ability on tailored goods.

With these sockets do you put the skill enhancers in them?
Also if yes, can anyone put the skill enhancers in the socketed clothing or does it have to be a tailor?
Anyone can apply the powerups for clothing they look like a roll of scotch tape whilefor armor they look like a armor panel. To the best of my knowledge you can't cross apply them (ie no armor in clothing). You can find the power ups in the bazaar under Misc => Items I think they list as Skill Enhancing items if I remember right.
The Artisan Assembly thing makes sense - seems they have some objects classified wrong though if things in the artisan skill tree don't use the artisan skills.
How do you make this?
I'm 0 4 0 4 in tailor and I'm wondering when I will get this option?
