Thread: Worst order you've ever gotten

I had a bad order yesterday, but it's not bad in the way some of the above posts are.

My absolute best customer, who is always looking for new dress or skirt/top combinations to dance in, asked me if i could make a Luxorius Gown with a crimson red top, and black skirt, and i had to give her the bad news that this dress uses one of the limited color pallets, and it cannot use a red like that. which is a real shame, because i think that dress would look great if it were able to use the full color listing.

It also sucks when i break the news to our furry friends that there isn't any wookiee wear that can use bright vibrant colors. i'm lucky that i still have both of my arms.

Probably the person who collected all of the loot schematics, HD leather, HD clasps and crystaline clothing treatments from his entire large guild together and wanted me to make them all for him to sell off. He offered a "reasonable" rate of around 1000 credits per item. There was also that person who wanted the maximum BE bonus for entertainers (+25 just wasn't good enough) and insisted that everything *had* to have 4 sockets no matter how many times it took to get it. I never have a pile of eggs that large!

I'll deliver stuff for my regular customers who want a new outfit every other day (since the single outfit order typically turns into 3 or 4 outfits). plus, the regulars like that all hang out in the cantina in Theed or Coronet, so a trip to deliver one customer's order typically turns into 4 or 5 other customers in the cantina ordering stuff. by the way, not all dancers just want the metal bikini and extremely revealing skirt. i actually haven't made any of those in 2 or 3 weeks now. (you mean that tiny skirt uses 200 units of fiberplast???)

but i usually won't deliver to customers unless it's a large order like several BE items. (JTL has made that more possible since i can travel with no wait, and no ticket fees).

There is a huge difference on delivering a order, which I do extremly often,no matter what the order is,

and being told you have to go there while they are doing a mission to make what they are wearing

To make my workload manageable I simply don't make BE clothing or the looted items. This is because I plan to have good stocks of Ithorian and Wookiee wearables, and I can't do *everything*. I even refused a backpack schematic and HD leather that another tailor attempted to *give* me for free (I really appreciated the gift, but I didn't want to go down that road). I'll do those things if a friend really really wants or needs the item, but otherwise it's not worth the hassle.

That's how i am with the looted items.

I have more schematics and HD Leathers and Clasps than I know what to do with. maybe i should just use up all the crafting apron schemes i have, and sell the aprons for fairly cheap. i was given for free all the HD Leathers and Clasps and Schemes from a friend when he dropped tailor.

i'm a Master Tailor/Master Weaponsmith, so i'm already very busy gathering high end resources for making weaponry, so i can't really bother with making all the special schematic items.

eh, I'm too lazy to stock those items regularly, so I just build whatever available when I want it. I've been pushing Odi to make me med tissues since those sell well, but otherwise I don't have a regular BE/loot restock schedule

/hi5 I'm a master Tailor/Master Weaponsmith too! When people come to me for a weapon, (only through referals because I pretty much don't do custom weapon orders) they are surprised to find my tailor tag which I always keep on.

My annoyance, though mostly only with having to educate ignorance, is having to explain to people the difference between BE and clothing attachment mods. Having to explain that attachments go in afterwards, BE mods must be crafted into, that I can't make either, and that I do not get BE components at the behest of a customer. Only whenever I feel like getting some, do I. Invariably I still get asked "sooo....if I get a BE to make me a +25 melee stun defense component, you can put it into the shirt I'm wearing?" ARGH When it comes to BE and sockets, what I have is what they get. I'm not customer oriented. I'ma tailor only because I love fashion (and designing a look for a person who doesn't want all black).

Someone wanted a bunch of BE clothing one time. I had to explain the following to him:

- How crafting works
- How clothing works
- How BE clothing works

- How BE tissues work
- What resources you need
- What quanity you need
- What the stats might be for the worst BE clothing
- What the stats might be for the best BE clothing

After all of this, which took about 1 1/2 hours, he decides not to buy any.

Okay, I had to share on this one. A while back I recieved a request to make guild uniforms for another guild. I accepted the order (291 Robes of Honor in 4 colors, crated) informing the customer that I was in the middle of a player event and wouldn't be able to start on the order for at least an hour and the entire order would take me a few days to omplete. An hour later as I am travelling to my house I recieve a tell from Customer

"Are they done yet?"

"Uhm, no, haven't started yet."

"Well, when do you think they will be done?"

"For such a large order it will take me a few days to complete it"

"Don't you have 2 factories? All good tailors have 2 factories"

"Yes, I do, but it will still take me a few days to finish them all"

"Okay, let me know when they are done"

I start making components and robes as soon as I get to my house. Next day I get a tell from Customer - pretty much the same as the previous day except now he tells me I am past my due-date that "I set myself" and he will be subtracting 10k for each day longer it took me (I should mention that I was giving this guy a HUGE discount to begin with). After a few more Tell Sessions with Customer I am fed up. I contact some other tailors and ask if they would be willing to take the order. Finding one, I give Customer their name and wish him well. Looking back, it's vaguely funny, and has become almost a running joke when I tell friends that I have an order to finish, but I really wanted to strangle that customer

I actually have an 'infospammail' all made up about this,

it includes a blurb about SEAs and them not being player crafted

and closes with how I price BEWEAR (most don't get each tissue will be paid for)

I found having these emails made up and sent to myself ready to be fwd'd out

saved hrs of typing for someone with very little skill like myself.

{have ones for colors in signs and text, macros, handy links, all kinds of em, about 10 emails sit ready to go}

I had one annoying customer that drove me insane and is the only person banned from my shop. He would continually ask me for items that are on the vendorswithout checking the vendors. (I used to carry an insane stock.) He was the typical, "make me look cool customer." I'd make his special orders as he constantly asked, "Is itdone yet? Is it done yet?"

If it wasn't done, he'd harrass my other customers in my shop by asking them to duel him. Then he'd call them names. I told him there's no fighting in my shop, so then he'd beg them to duel outside my shop.

The last straw was when I was home sick from work. I had a terrible headache and a fever. I was content with restocking some clothing in peace. He sent me a tell asking for a special order. I politely told him I was sick, to send me an email, and I'd be happy to make his order the next day. 20 minutes later he sent me a tell that said, "Are you there?" I repeated what I told him earlier and put up an afk message that said the said something along the lines that I was sick, to send me an email, and I'd make special orders the next day. He sent me at least 3 more tells that day! Needless to say /addignore and I banned him from the shop.

I just started up my Starsider shop and so far I've had very few sales, and no tells. I'm for the most part enjoying my anonymity, though money is a bit tight. I'm debating whether I want to start advertising, or whether I'd rather kill Imperial oppressors for cash. Hmmmm....
