Thread: End to tailor vendors?

The problem there is that you're conceding the *concept* of a painful vendor item limit. Any number they do select (like 300) is *still* going to be too low for tailors, or at best force tailors to go further into Merchant than they might like, just to be able to serve our customers at some fraction of the quality they're used to.

Here's what I posted on that thread:

Vendor itemcap at 150 items: Not so great. As a tailor that would leave me absolutely no room for variety. That is unless I wanted to make one vendor for red clothes and another vendor for blue clothes and another one for black clothes etc.

As is tailors have 234 items of clothing they can make. That's not adding in any possible new schematics. Say I wanted to make 10 of everything I could make so I could have some variety in colors then put them on vendors. I would have to have 16 vendors up to handle that. Even at Master Merchant I can't have 16 vendors up . . .

Then lets say you only want to make 50% of the available clothing and have the same 10 of each for variety. That still means 8 vendors that a master merchant still can't have.

My opinion is simply that this idea sucks, plain and simple.

I am very concerned with this vendor cap. I only play the game because I love running my shop. I don't pvp, I don't go out and fight critters, I only craft and run my vendors. That's why I log on - I genuinely *love* being a tailor/merchant. I love my customers. I love helping them look their best.

Currently, I have 1200+ items in stock, spread over 3 vendors, with 2 of those vendors having atleast 400+ items on them. Evenwith that many items in my inventory,I still want to expand. I don't feel completely stocked.

Imposing a 150 item per vendor limit would absolutely cripplemy shop, and would most likely make me close down, which is an incredibly painful thought for me. I just -could not- have this shop with that limit, or with any limit for that matter. Putting a cap on vendors would be putting a cap on me and my abilities as a tailor.

Sigh, and I thought I was safe as a tailor. I thought I would always have my shop and my skills to keep me playing the game. I guessI thought wrong.

Here's hoping they actually -listen- to the crafters on this issue and not some random dork who doesn't even have a vendor exclaiming he thinks capping vendors is "a gr8 idea why did u not think of that be4?"

heh.

I have been told that I have one of the nicest shops and best selections of clothing on the server....I have a medium house with 4 vendors: Unisex/men's wear, Women's wear, Wookiee Wear, BE clothing.

They all have about 100 items on them, the women's wear usually going up to about 130 or so. So basically 400-500 items in my store at once. I have no problem with the cap, personally.

I assumed anyone who was a serious Master Tailor (ie serious= nice shop) had mastered or come close to mastering merchant anyway...so what's the problem with distributing clothing over 5 vendors?

doh wish we had an edit button...

wanted to add that I am, however, against the raised bazaar cap. Not only would it affect Tailors horribly (75% of what we sell is under 6k), but resource shops, weaponsmiths, and BE's to name a few off the top of my head that make product in the 3-6k range.

Breeka I have to go see your shop now! I can't imagine 1200 items! For anyone who is a budding tailor or worried they can't compete however, I will tell you that you don't need 10 of each color of each item on your vendor. Maybe one of everything in black! lol. I have most popular colors and lots of matching sets and I"ve never had a problem. If someone sees something they like in the wrong color they send me and email and I have it for them the next day.

I also have about 1200 items when "fully stocked" (I think I have about 800 at the moment.)

Also, *don't* assume every Master Tailor has Master Merchant, or wants it. Obviously, I could if I really wanted it, but I don't. All I really need (at present) is one vendor (though I recently added a "non-clothing" vendor in the same shop.) I have Merchant at 3-0-0-1, basically just to have global advertising and a "Merchant Sign" since it is more attractive and stands out more. There are various other things I'd *like* to have, like the ability to dress my own vendors, but I also like running around and exploring and shooting things, and there just aren't enough skill points to do all those things effectively.

I've seen very few tailors like that actually. In fact, of the shops that I've seen that sell clothing, they mainly fall into two categories. 1) the "super store shop", obviously run by a very high level merchant(s) with a wide variety of vendors carrying all kinds of different things. 2) The very humble tailor shops obviously run by a master tailor who is low level novice merchant selling strictly clothing on 1 or 2 very simple vendors.

*stomps in huffing and puffing* ARGH! Well, I just posted a couple times in the big nasty thread over there. I am soooo not happy.

I am one box away from master merchant. I have 4 vendors up now in 2 locations. Separated into General Tailor Goods and Wookiees only goods. My remaining 2 vendors were to be for my business partners who keep me supplied with hides, resources and let me "borrow" their lots for my business. I just spent the last 10 days about 6 hours a day stocking my second location vendors with over 700 items and was not done yet. And I was about to go finish doing the same withmy vendors at my main location/shop.

Now I get to reverse all I've done. Lovely. I've been playing a Tailor since beta. And merchant. 150 item limit will ruin what I thought was fun about this game. Tell hell and restocking to top off is bad enough now. The limit will make it magnitudes worse. I don't want a JOB here? I wanted fun? Hello!?

And the 6k bazaar limit just blows the pinnings out from under 99% of what I sell. Fantastic. My master merchant skills are now only good for multiple vendors for sorting a severely limited variety of stock now and no room for other's crafted or harvested goods. Merchant with limited stock? Great. Tailor with limited colors, styles and stock? Great.

HATE IT! *digs out new Sims game and stomps out*

The 6k limit on the bazaar really gets me. I'm completely against raising the maximum price on the bazaar, especially for durable goods. If they could find a way to allow resources to have a higher maximum than finished items I wouldn't have a problem with it.

"For anyone who is a budding tailor or worried they can't compete however, I will tell you that you don't need 10 of each color of each item on your vendor."

But what about those of us who want to? I like having a large variety of colors and color combinations available. I like having even the less popular clothes available in these combinations of color. I used to be a dancer and I hated that I couldn't find a tailor selling flesh wraps in a color other than various shades of pink and purple, and that the tailors I could find would have one or two colors available of each item. And if you *think* you haven't had a problem, you're wrong. MOST people won't bother sending you an e-mail; they'll just move on.

Just because a vendor cap won't hurt you, personally, doesn't mean it's not bad for the community as a whole.

We have over 200 schematics. If the 150 limit was put in, someone using 1 vendor couldn't even have 1 color of everything. Someone using two vendors wouldn't even have 2 colors of everything. You get the idea.

I think I'm almost as much annoyed by some of the comments on the big In Development thread as by the proposed change itself. Being lectured by some Master Bounty Hunter who's never picked up a crafting tool or vendor in his life about how I could only ever possibly need 150 items on a vendor, and if I need otherwise I'm obviously just a thieving, hoarding kulak nefariously using a vendor as storage, and need to be purged by the Bolsheviks anyhow....

I hear ya Bindi! Grrrr! Combat only types are cheering out there in the boonies because they will be able to just go grab what they want off the public bazaar, and they won't have to look dumb when a merchant points out the "Next item" button that the combat-only-guy didn't even know was there. Oh, and how often have you had to explain about Ctrl+V and category folders, etc.? More times than I care to count. /sigh

When they can't find a tailor vendor with anything but 100 items all in black, and all of them priced at 6k and above, then we will hear some belly-achin' you betcha.

They better implement a true /anon feature before they take this vendor item limit and bazaar cap live or I foresee a great flood of panicking, rude, demanding /tells overwhelming us.

I just love when a non-crafter/merchant tells me I am useless and the game would be better if all items were on NPC vendors and camped phat lewt drops. /rollseyes Well fine then. See how they like it when they can't get what they want, when they want it, in the color/type/amount they want it. How're they going to like even MORE empty vendors to waste time on? This nerf actually helps the holo grinding merchants! I see me adding a lotta people to an /ignore list. Lovely. Just lovely.
