And we dont get just 1 or 2 people like this we get hundreds and hundreds of them, Im a very busy tailor and I get at least 5-10 of these a day. and it's just not one /t a piece the conversations usually suck up a good half hour each. and these people all have us on their friends list so it starts the second we log on.
You think about it, you add that up and if you were honest, if you had to deal with this EVERYDAY you would be stressed too
read your fellow tailors remarks and then restate you assertion

fact is i respect everyone until they prove themselves to be disreputable. after reading a lot of your (tailors) posts i have come to the conclusion that the vast majority of you have fun belittling your customers. i only responeded in kind. as far as running around naked, you know as well as i do that getting an entire profession to agree on anything is next to impossible. one of you will sell me something, heck if the price is right you would probably cross the picket line and sell me something right now.

Actually, if you really read the post carefully, you'll find that most people are belittling their non-customers. People who want master level clothes for 500 creds, people who refuse to pay after the clothes have been made, even people who demand that they be given clothes for free. Stalkers, con-artists, and a few minor sociopaths.
I don't have much of an issue with making fun of people like this. It keeps one sane. Nobody makes fun of their customers, they make fun of the jackasses who take their time and energy, which could be better used serving actual customers.

I'll leave it at this. I've pissed off more than my fair share of individuals as a tailor. I've also made countless hundreds of people happy by making them items. So you're not one of them. cool.
oh congrats on your uber +bleed resistance shirt. I really hope you paid a premium for it, since they dont work. Which would be the only reason why I dont sell them.

Well, let's not comment on the last nationalist/borderline racist comment, but getting to the point :
- As for the 3l33tness of clothes, there are 2 main game mechanics related reasons to use them
1) Sockets. Tailors can created socketed items (up to 4 sockets for masters), where you can put skill powerups (found as loot on mobs) to increase your skills
2) Bioengineered tissues. Currently broken, but apparently (as of last answer from the devs to the BE's), it will be fixed on next big patch. Using bio engineered tissues allow (will allow) tailors to create clothes with various skill mods : anti bleed defense, warcry, intimidation, mask scent and camo ...
- The main appeal of clothes are the "coolness factor", the looks. It is a concept that some people grasp, some not. A dancer in a fleshwrap looks more "sexy" and more appealing than a dancer gray pants and a tan basic shirt. A bounty hunter with a duster, desert command jacket, or flightsuit and a spec ops packs looks way thougher than a bounty hunter with a noob simple shirt. It just as simple as that. For some people it matters, for others not. Clothes are a "luxury", something that is not required to play the game, but that many want nevertheless, because thay want to play a cool looking character, not look like joe newbie. It's exactly like, say, purchasing a house (if you are not a crafter or a merchant).
- I don't know what exactly you mean by respect, but let's put it this way. Tailors spend as much time, money, and effort as other artisan classes to progress in their skills, reach master, maintain their harvesters, run their merchant/shop. Their items cost ressources to craft. After that, like all artisans, some people gouge, some undercut, some have fair prices ... but on average, if such and such piece of clothing cost several thousands of credits, it's because there are good reasons for this ...
It's not because some people think that an item that do not add a bonus to pistol skills or what not not worth more than 50 credits that tailors' time, effort, and credit/ressources spending is less worthy of "respect" than the same effort made by a weaponcrafter. The key thing is that there are a majority of people who accept that, and are willing to pay a fair price. If you fell that paying 3k for a duster is too much because the duster offers no protection, then purchase a simple shirt from a newbie artisan for 30c. It won't hurt you, it will not preventyou character to get to master BH/CH/commando/(insert FOTM profession here).If you are angry because you "want" a duster, then you are agreeing that "coolness" has a value 
- The thread you are reffering to is just a "venting" thread. It's no more, no less offensive than the various "We hate people who don't tip just after I blew thousands of ressources in stimpacks to heal them" on medic profession forums, or the "I danced for ungrateful fighters in the cantina for 4 hours and all I got was this stupid T-sh... err 30c in tips". Just lighten up.
So Olioret, Help us jerk Tailors understand what it is You want? Your mad at a Tailor so you vent on us? Or, your just a jerk your self and decided that this day was "Bash Tailors" day? Or, Your really so dense you don't understand the concept of clothing???

I too am a Tailor. I don't think you fully grasp what that entails. Do you have any idea what ANY crafter goes through to attain the resources needed to craft whatever it is they make?Obviously you don't. I really don't think you could cut it as a crafter. But thats another forum altogether.
It was my choice to become a Tailor. And, it is my choice wether or not to drop everything and run to some one in the midst of a fashion crisis. I have been known to do this if the person was respectful and polite when requesting my services. As a result, i have a loyal clientel even though I am not a Master Tailor as of yet.
You who ( for whatever reason )had a bad attitude about this proffession should just back the hate truck up and go about your business. We are. And believe me, You'll come crawling back the first time you want to Truly impress a Fem toon and can't because you are dressed badly.

I used to play EverQuest. I'm not sure who else here did, but in the game it used to be that any given item had its own color scheme, etc. If you got a black musselin piece of armor it had the same color and texture as every other piece of armor. I used to find it amusing that people would at times take lesser armor because it looked cooler. Then with a later expansion, you could actually buy items to change the colors of your own personal armor. Everybody jumped at it (most everyone). I found that amusing too.
Then I got to SWG with dreams of playing a bounty hunter or some other universal badass with aspirations of jedihood. And where am I now? I'm a Tailor!
The same people or type of people from EQ who cherished style over substance are loving the hell out of SWG...and so am I. Finally a game without the word "Sim" attached to it where we can customize ourselves and interact with the world at large. I think as people start maxing out their careers the real RP will begin and you'll start seeing more reasons for clothing that looks good - a place where clothing becomes more of a luxury. Right now, people are trying to get to a point where they're happy with their abilities in their professions (myself included), which is to say that they can be that badass (or in my case, create what the customer wants without question). Soon we'll reach a point where people are maxing out and you'll see PAs having real get-togethers and parties and more player-run events where if you show up in full chitin armor they'll shake their head. When we get to that point, I see clothing going from a luxury (beyond the BE enhancements, it is just that at the moment) to a necessity. Sure, when you were a kid (okay, when *I* was a kid) nothing kept your feet warm in the chill of winterlike moon-boots (for those of you that don't know, they look just like the boots that astronauts used to wear in their pressure suits - very bulky) but you cursed yourself that day that you forgot your shoes at home and had to wear those moon-boots in front of everyone through the day! So do you want to show up to that party in bone armor or something a little nicer and more presentable?
So right now having cool clothes is nice - I wear my own stuff so as to be my own personal billboard at the moment. To entertainers, they're already a necessity. Soon, Tailors will come into their own and you WILL be buying our stuff if you don't already. If anything clothing will show who's able to spend the credits on the good stuff and who isn't - a status symbol if nothing.
We'll see how my hypotheses hold out...
