Wait a minute! you lost me there, lol. You are complaining about the lack of hides, and saying you can't afford to buy them so you can give clothes away for free? Wow, don't even know what to say about that.

I for one hope they patch this soon too. I love to buy clothes. Lots of clothes. And I don't want this profession to suffer from the loss of resources. In the meantime, I just have to organize a great many more "newbie hunts". (Where I take about half a dozen or so new scouts and kill tortons for them, so they can get scouting experience fast. Take that SOE! Altruism conquers your evil nerfing!)

GreatEgnuol, this is why it pains me so much to have this bug in the game. I love supplying people with clothes. I have given away 4000 credits worth of clothing to people for nothing, but now, I can only give them jackets, pants, helmets and shirts, no gloves, belts, backpacks, or boots... Why? Because this calls for over 100 hides. On the market, that can go all the way up to 1000 credits. I just want them to fix this so that I can make all of my customers smile again and get the "It's good old Ackaw!" response that I used to get.

Hopefully they fix this ASAP, I love giving away clothing!

The 50% solo harvest thing is a bug and will be fixed, but yes the real problem here is scouts/rangers aren't grouping and SHARING the hides. Without that yes they'll all have less. If they group and share, like someone above pointed out, they'll have a LOT more than they did before.

Human behavior is a funny thing, at first there was a big disincentive to harvest resources in a group, at least if you were after large amounts of high quality hides/meat as opposed to experience. That lead most people to do their resource harvesting solo, and it also ment more group oriented players didn't harvest resources to sell as much as those that enjoy solo-playing. After the harvesting change, there is a big incentive to group for harvesting resources and an unintentional disincentive to harvest solo (since it usually takes longer to kill creatures solo than in a group).Ergo the traditional sources of hides, the solo hunters, produce drastically less (due to an acknowlegded bug), and the people that have a net increase inhides don't normally sell them. So in a way you are right, people that never bothered to sell hides now have an oppurtuntity to get more, and the ones that usually sold you hides have a harder time harvesting quantities that are pracitical to sell.

I was going to ask why people need so many hides, but I guess the fellow playing Santa Claus to the detriment of our profession provides the answer.

*rolleyes* He said he's given away 4000 credits worth of clothing. That's barely anything--I sell at least that every day and I'm only up to Field Wear III. It's certainly not to the detriment of our profession.

Good tailors almost always give discounts or freebies to their best customers. I know that I'll give newbies who are nice and need a break anything in the Dom Arts tree for free, and often some of the Novice Tailor items as well. Later on when they've got money to spend they'll remember me and come back for more. And I'll often make my friends, neighbors and a few of my best customers low-resource items for free, or at least offer them a substantial discount--it keeps them coming back to me and over time I usually make back the money I spent on them tenfold. It's called good marketing, and it's an accepted and useful business practice. It's not the same thing as tailors who have a vendor stocked with Master items at 1K each for anyone and everyone to buy.

Try getting wooly hides. Last time I was looking for them, I found a total of maybe 600-700 hides, all scattered in small bunches over the whole galaxy. :/

After seeing a huge bantha spawn appear a 100m or so from my shop, I'm beginning to think the same! Maybe I could try an "All Bantha -- All The Time!" motto, or something; lord knows that people notice my bantha statue more than they do the clothes on the walls.. *grins*

Vandessa, I know you tailors are rightfully upset about clothing decay being dropped/delayed (whatever it is this week), but try to take away one of the few ways you can make money using scout and ranger skills.

Sojourner,

that's the whole point, is that scouts are choosing *not* to make money selling hides/meat/bone. There is a shortage of these products at any price! It's gotten so that if I can find a 1k stack of any of those, especially if it's decent quality I'll buy it almost irregarless of price. I can't really blame em though, I have hunting IV and even with that it would take me probably an hour to come up with a 100 unit stack of hide/meat/bone in Corellia where I live.

This has nothing to do with taking moneymaking potential from scouts.

I promise to never complain about what scouts are now charging for hides if you promise to keep buying boots (and to get your friends to buy them) when we have to start charging 5k minimum for them.

The skyrocketing hide prices are going to force us to either drastically raise prices on some items or to stop selling them altogether. The hide going into many of my items now costs more than I was getting from selling the items. So if they don't do something about the hide shortage in the next week or so I'm either going to stop making boots and belts or I'm going to have to at least double my old prices.

Oh, and by the way, the decay issue that we're so upset about will affect you scouts too. If clothing doesn't get meaningful use-based decay, our sales will continue to decrease. Once we're selling less, we'll be buying fewer hides, so you can kiss your lucrative tailor market goodbye.

Incidentally, a quick look around the forums shows that this shortage was created by the SWG developers. They reduced the amount of hides/meat/bone one gets from a kill by in some cases as much as 50%. The scouts are obviously not happy about this, and or course it's now starting to trickle down to those that need these resources (us). This issue seems to be getting some visibility on the scout profession board, I suggest people post there in order to gain the greatest visibility.

I've noticed a lack of hides...

I just got to Master Tailor yesterday, and realized I need a lot of wooley hides. I have been desperate to find some, I've managed to find about 600 hides by flying to another planet and purchasing from the bazaar.

I wish I had spare points to put in combat/scouting skills, but I am totally out of points.

For the people who seem to have a lack of eyeballs or something, had you read my post, I said that I used to give clothing away. Now, I know all you capitalist, money mongers would say **edit**?!?! UR GIBING AWAY CLOTJNG WORTH 70 FIBORPALZT AND LIEK 10 METTLE!?!?! WAHHHAAT!!11

The fact of the matter is that when you give away your items, you are promoting yourself. Why? If the people realize your geneoristy, they come back for more. If you want to have a great business you need to make sacrifices.

With that said, my post was completely on topic. I said that its hurting my business because I can no longer promote my items as much as I would have liked. Inow have to charge people 800+ credits for a set of friggin' uniform boots. Uniform boots... hmm... what wasmy old going price? Oh yeah, thats it! 275 credits. However, if I have to pay 1,500 credits for 200hides, I cannot afford this anymore.Futhermore, if you accuse me of "undercutting the market," then you, my friend, need to reconsider business. If I undercut the market by promoting my virutally costless clothing, then I am setting the benchmark. Do not try to accuse me because I am friendly with my business and because I can price things low.

Granted, it is not very profitable to give away entire suits of clothing, but when I do, I can tell you I have got more than enough promises of pay-back. And believe me, they pay me back. One fellow gave me 4,000 credits in return for the 1,500 credit value outfit I made him.

I'm sorry if you seem to lack compassion and friendly business ethics, but this is the way I operate, and this is hurting my operation. I will not result to overcharging my items, and this is the end of the story.

Good day.
