Thread: *Severe* Lack of Hides Beginning to Show

It has been asked a few times on these forums if people have noticed the lack of hides, bones, and meats. Now it is more evident than ever. Today, in Theed, the most populated city on Valcyn, there were only 7 sales of hides. Some for 15 units, which charged 350 credits, others for 400 units which demanded an outrageous 3000 credits. This is absolutely killing my business, as I did not get to stockpile hides before this insane nerf.

Devs, I ask that something be done about this... its hurting the Galaxy far more than its helping. I can't see any way that it is helping at all!

Yes don't see any more decent sales on the bazaar but then I rarely buy from there. I suggest getting in touch with a few scouts/rangers who you'd buy from on a regular basis. This way you'll get it cheaper (around 3 per resource or even less) and in larger quantaties.

I dont know if you have the extra skill points or not...

but I would recommending picking up Novice Scout, and Novice Marksman if you dont already have them.

I have Novice Scout, Novice Marksman, and Pistol 4. I kill nuna's and chubas outside of Kaadara, and harvest. Although you only get a handful of hides from each, t really isn't so bad to me, it's a nice break from tailoring tailoring tailoring.

When the devs implemented the group harversting (each scout/ranger at a group harverster the same corpse and each one gets 60 % organic resources) they feared that the organic resources flooded the market. You see, if 2 scouts/rangers group and the 2 harverster the same corpse to ge hide, you will get a net value of 120% hide from the same creature. If 10 scout/rangers group you will have 600 % hide from the same body (six times the normal quantity).

To contrabalance this "problable" overflow of organic resources at the market, the devs get down the general harversted resources by circa 50 %. Then, if a scout/ranger go solo he harverst 50 % hide (or bone or meat) that he harversted before the big patch. If a scout/ranger group with someone (the pet droid, for example), he will harverster 50 % X 30 % the before patch quantities, or 30 %.

You see that the hide quantities will drop at the market if the scouts/rangers don't start to group to get better quantities hunting more beasts. But a full month with the "who-harverster-first-harverster-everything" created a professional culture that valorize the soloing and not the grouping. While the scouts/rangers not start to group to get more organic resources from the corpses or while the devs not revert the changes that they make to the general harversting (the general reduction of 50 %) you will see a shortage of hides (and bones or meat if you are looking it).

yea, I've been seeing the same. In fact it's gotten so the first thing I check in the bazar is hide and meat, and any (and all)sticks larger than 300 for 5cr/unit or less I buy, simple as that. It's funny too because I have hunting 4 and some decent combat skills, but I'd need to hunt for hours a day to keep up with my needs. And even then what you end up with is 20 different stacks of hide, each with like 20 hides in them which is practically useless.

I'm seeing no real shortages in the bazaar, and if there are, a couple hunting missions around the starport rectifies the situation and nets me a good chunk of cash to boot.

The lack of decay for clothing is a more pressing concern. If we have no turnover in the tailoring market, there'll bezero demand for hides from this quarter anyway.

I appreciate that this thread is well thought out and not a flame fest.

With that said, I must say that I simply will not pick up scout again. I had it up to hunting III and exploration II and it was a waste of skill points. Why? I am a Tailor, a soon to be Doctor, and a want-to-be Weaponsmith. It just doesn't fit in well with Marksman, Artisan, Medic, Tailor, Doctor, Weaponsmith, no?

I used to think that too, but I've really come to appreciate scouting. Having exploration sure makes it easier to run missions and make harvester runs (mask scent is a godsend!), and as for hunting, well, that's more debateable. It really depends on the sort of business arrangements and connections that you have and how you plan to aquire bone/hide/meat that you may need.

I hope that base 50% reduction is a bug.. it means you need at least 4 people with scout skills in a group to get the same hides you were able to get before.

And I did have scout skills myself, until I needed to surrender them last week in order to advance my primary crafting skills.

doubling as an armorsmith, I'm really feeling the lack of hides. Since armor has many more specific required hides than tailoring does, it very much limits my choices for hides.

I've noticed a huge drop-off in available hides, also. On the entire planet of Naboo today there was only one stack of hides larger than 400 up for sale. I've made a daily routine of checking the bazaar first thing in the morning to try and snag the large stacks before anyone else does.

This is quickly becoming a huge problem. I hope the devs notice soon. I've got the scouting skills, but I simply don't have the time to spend harvesting the hides I need, especially at the new reduced rate. I've essentially stopped making most wookiee clothes, because they're just too hide intensive. And my armorsmith neighbor has been hit even harder than me by this.

If there are any scouts on Sunrunner with hides to sell feel free to contact River.

It is a bug, and both Holo and the scout dev know about it.

I for one hope they patch this soon too. I love to buy clothes. Lots of clothes. And I don't want this profession to suffer from the loss of resources. In the meantime, I just have to organize a great many more "newbie hunts". (Where I take about half a dozen or so new scouts and kill tortons for them, so they can get scouting experience fast. Take that SOE! Altruism conquers your evil nerfing!)

GreatEgnuol, this is why it pains me so much to have this bug in the game. I love supplying people with clothes. I have given away 4000 credits worth of clothing to people for nothing, but now, I can only give them jackets, pants, helmets and shirts, no gloves, belts, backpacks, or boots... Why? Because this calls for over 100 hides. On the market, that can go all the way up to 1000 credits. I just want them to fix this so that I can make all of my customers smile again and get the "It's good old Ackaw!" response that I used to get.

Hopefully they fix this ASAP, I love giving away clothing!
