Thread: Gotta love this
Okay, I'm baffled on the wookiee issue.
I might be alone in thinking this, but when I finally saw some of the high-tier wookiee items, I spent the entire day running about telling people that wookiees get some of the best outfits in the game. Yes, the smock is godawfully ugly, but what about the patterened gloves? They are one of my very favourite items, with their very distinct embroidery, and one of the very few pieces in the game with any actual patterning at all. The sigiled waist wrap would be gorgeous if it wasn't bugged, and the crested battle padding manages somehow to be both intimidating (all that sharp metal!) and stylish.
I love my wookiee customers, have had so many come to me in desperation because there is virtually nothing up on the bazaar here that they can wear; it's been a really neglected market lately, and I'm hoping to change that. Well, and I think they're kinda cute..*sniffs*
Ahhh, Scungellia.
The one who wouldn't train me because he "Doesn't train the competition." Oh Puhlease! LOL..Oh, andalso wouldn't train me because two other tailors opened up shop on either side of him. And that had what to do with me you ask? I have no idea...![]()
Lysta, Bria
Darcy,
I too love my wookie customers. I speciliazed in wookie clothing before I hit Master tailor and I certainly filled a HUGE void on my server. I still get wookie customers coming in to get fully outfitted and in general the wookies are the most sincere and the most patient customers I have. I enjoy trying to make them look the best they can with the limited selection and colors.
I generally try to outfit them in one color scheme since most have different colored fur, it helps to pull the whole thing together. The best colors are: All black, brown, grey, green (I have made some nice all green outfits).
Crested battle padding, travellers helm, strapped glovesand decorative waist wrap looks the best (imo)
Or Sages hood with the smock
Sages hood, heavy shoulder pad, sigiled waist wrap and patterened gloves
pullover, bandolier, plain or weighted waist wrap and handwraps or strapped gloves (no hood)
This is the best thread - ever! Oh, it has filled my patch time with giggles and outright laughter! Thank you!
I thought I was the only one who had to deal with this sort of thing, but it seems it runs rampant.
One night I'm out in the field DNA collecting, about 2k away from my shop, and get the inevitable tell.
Customer: Can you make me a xxx and a xxx?
Me: I'm sorry, I'm not at the shop right now, please send me an email with your order and I'll have it ready for you within 24 hours
Customer: Can you make it now?
Me: I'm sorry, I'm not at the shop
Customer: Where are you?
Me: Out collecting DNA
Customer: But I'm going out for the weekend and I want it now
Me: I'm sorry, but there are orders ahead of you, when I start filling orders I'll make yours, too
Customer: Ok, I guess
*receive email order*
One week later - the clothing is still sitting there ![]()
or how about this one?
Customer: Can you make me some clothes?
Me: Please send me your order in email
Customer: But you're standing right here
Me: That's how Iconduct my business, it assures I get your order correct and I need to finish the orders ahead of yours
Customer: That's stupid, I'm right here, but hey, it's your shop
Me: *sigh*
Good God, tailoring sounds like a nightmare!
My favorite tailor is Chiana, and after reading this entire thread I now have EVEN MORE respect for her. How she can stay so nice/patient after going through all this stuff you tailors deal with is beyond me.
this was an actual exchange between me and a random player who approached me on one of my infrequent visits to Mos Entha. i think i'll go even more infrequently...
player: Excuse me, are you a tailor?
me: Yes, a master tailor in fact. What can i help you with?
player: k I need some clothes.
me: well, you've come to the right place. Did you have an outfit in mind?
player: yes, a specific outfit
me: ah great, what is the outfit?
player: I don't know the names.
me: Hmm well, can you describe them?
player: nope
me: so, you don't know what they're called and you can't tell me what they look like?
player: right.
me: well, I'm not quite sure how I can help you then.
player: k thx
players runs away

NEWS FLASH Tailor found in drunken stupor in Mos Entha cantina!
Heh. I've had a couple of those, too, Rhensis. If they can't find an example of the items in my shop, I generally point them to one of the websites with clothing pictures.
Customer: But that takes too long! (to ALT-TAB out to a browser)
*boggle* Would it, compared to describing each and every item?
Favourite Sith Tailor response: ...''Pray I do not alter it any further!''

It took me a second to get that - and then I laughed to tears. Thanks - I needed that, and this entire thread for that matter - while I'm here at work. I love this thread.
Novice Tailor - Kauri
"I want to look like Link from the Zelda Series"
Put a green belted jacket with brown sleeves, brown standard boots, and some green shorts hiding under the jacket. Looked just like him. All he needed would have been to get his hair changed to blond. To bad I couldent get a hat for him though. I thought of the "Warm Hat" but that would have just looked stupid.
Well, to play devil's advocate for some of the less idiotic cases(and probably some stupid things ive asked for), i think the problem here is that we dont KNOW what all the clothing in the game looks like unless we're tailors. i recently became a tailor and i didnt know half of the stuff that existed to wear before i did.
so dont cut into the lesser morons too much.

I think I can speak for most of us when I say that we don't expect customers to know the name of everything. We're usually perfectly happy to talk and suggest various styles. It's our job.
This thread isn't about a lack of knowledge on the part of our customers. It's about people who are rude or mean to us. It's about people who are unreasonable. It's about people who have silly, unrealistic expectations. It's about people whowant us to read their minds.
I understand your point completely, but the posts aren't about customers who don't know what's available. It's about people who run up to us and want them to make this outfit they saw once, but they can't describe the clothes in any way. I've had customers who say they want the same style that their friend was wearing, but when I start asking basic questions (like was it pants, a skirt, shorts, a dress?) they have no idea. Sorry, but there isn't much we can do in situations like that except laugh.

i have no problem with customers that don't know what they want... that's what i'm here for
i'm more than happy to help customers that are nice but clueless... after all, when i buy something like a droid, i have NO idea what i'm looking for either.
BUT stalking me(or anyone else) is not ok. asking your tailor to give you free stuff is usually not ok. harassing your tailor because he/she doesn't tell you what you want to hear is not ok. i just wish people can be more mature whenit comes to player interaction![]()
It'd be nice if Master included a couple of items specific to each race/gender, not just women and twileks...
