him: You have any extra crafting stations ?

me: Sorry, I use droids

him: k thx

<pause>

him: You have any factories I can use?

me: No, they are loaded currently sorry.

him: Ok. I have power, will they be free soon?

me: Sorry, I do not share my factories.

<end>

Hello ? Are factories laundry mats or public telephones ? I don't even know this person either.

Lord give me strength.

Well, to play devil's advocate for some of the less idiotic cases(and probably some stupid things ive asked for), i think the problem here is that we dont KNOW what all the clothing in the game looks like unless we're tailors. i recently became a tailor and i didnt know half of the stuff that existed to wear before i did.

So just display it all, that is what I do. 210 items. Cuts of about 30% of my headaches.

Actually, in reference to the not gay request, i have had two seperate people ask me on two occasions for especially gay clothes. Both men.

It'd be nice if Master included a couple of items specific to each race/gender, not just women and twileks...

i probably have around 600 clothing items across my 6 vendors in 3 different spots, (yes, the"item not sold" email annoys the heck outta me, but i wanted to offer a selection)out of that is around 70 wookiee items on its own vendor. people come in and clean half of it out every other day, usually when i'm not looking i did some rounding of prices a few days ago up to the nearest 500 (for easy calculation), so a lot of my wookiee stuff hiked up in price by a chunk. doesn't stop people from cleaning my vendor still @.@ people seem to love the blue/white and brown/green combos i have, or the white sells well too

he'd also asked me to:

buy his droid to resell and make a profit (hon, i'm a tailor, not a businesstwi'lek)

if i have a droid vendor in my shop (same as above... eh? i can just hear the next line: "can i sell some droids on your vendor?" ihave 1 vendor with my in game husband's meds and a good friend's spices, and i asked a ex-novice tailor to leave a vendor here for lower level items... she's now a master! grats Lily *ahem*... distracted. point being i'm not a mall. my shop says "custom tailor" on it, people usually don't come in looking for droid, ya know?)

Why is it that the especially irritating customers always seem to have substandard typing and spelling skills, and the attitude that grammar and coherence are just fussy little frills you shouldn't have to worry about when communicating? The two deficiencies--lack of courtesy + general stupidity, and lack of decent language skills--seem to be intimately associated.

I really wonder if half these people with their "revealing flushwarps" and their "tactical skin**edit**s," not to mention all the "u"s, "r"s, "ne1"s, etc.--the general internet d00dspeak--have ANY idea how retarded they sound when they make their requests to us. They don't, I guess, or they'd do something about it.

Here's a scary one for you...

Was talking to a novice tailor yesterday. She was on and on about making cloths. Not clothes, cloths. She's struggling. Only one skill box in. Expected me to GIVE her supplies to grind with and let her use my factory so she could make syn cloth to sell. Told me she's going to buy a house like mine (it's a PA Hall) and run me out of business because I wouldn't give her things for free. More power to her. I hope she gets all that she deserves.

On a positive note...

Customer comes in last night. Begging me to make shoes to match an outfit she bought from another Master. Apologized for even visiting another tailor and swore she'd never go anywhere else again... even though others are cheaper. Let 'em keep undercutting me. My customers come back for the service and the knowledge. I'm not going to make them an outfit in one colour of purple then make the shoes in another colour! Sheesh.... Yes, I charge a bit more on some items. But you won't find a tailor with more patience, more product knowledge,a better stocked vendor or better displays. My prices are a bit higher, but so are my expenses. You want to shop in a high end shop, you pay more. My shop is a very tastefully decorated PA Hall, I use large harvesters to meet demands. I run two factories. But you can guarantee that you will get what you want when you visit my shop. Service and Quality.

This has probably been mentioned to death already, but I still do not get why some customers feel that it's perfectly logical for a tailor to buy a piece of clothing from them, which was made by another tailor, just because they don't want it anymore. I scream inwardly everytime this happens. It happened again last night.

Customer: Can I sell you a grand healer's robe for 10k? I bought it from another master tailor and hardly wore it.

Me: I'm sorry, but I don't buy clothes. I only make them.

Customer: **edit**!

Like, duh!

But I do count myself lucky in that I don't get the persistent ones insisting I buy their hand me downs. My customers usually just ask once and stop asking when I politely refuse.

My most irritating conversation was from some guy that wanted an all white suit. White gunman's duster, white shirt, white pants, white boots, and white gloves. This was fine and all, and after finishing it up. Not to mention was lucky enough to get 4 sockets on all of them, I proceed to get ready for him to pick them up.

When he gets there, he is really excited and says it is perfect. He thinks it is great. He proceedes to pay half of it, cuz he is short on money. Now I am a nice guy, so I tell him to play me later, and isn't really and issue. But it does not stop there. I log in the next day and he msgs me, asking for a refund. This is curious because he was so happy with it, and tried it on.

He tells me that he thinks he looks fat in it, and tells me he wants to return it. He said it was alike a car, he needed to test drive it and didn't feel it was something he wanted. I was really pissed at him, cuz he spent the last 40 mins msging me 1 word sentences, and asking for a refund. I told him to keep the clothes and he owed me 3K for the duster. I at least got that, and that paid for the rest of the materials, I broke even on that one, but I don't want to deal with these people, especially when I was nice enough to extend them a line of credit. I have decided to give up on giving anyone credit and just going to put items on my vendor and let them pay it or leave.

I'm only a level 3ish tailor so I haven't had too many problems. Except this one girl in a cantina. I had just finished crafting everything I possibly could to put it on my vendor, I was down to just enough synthetic cloths to make appxone more outfit and that's it. So I go into the cantina and asked if anyone wanted an outfit beforeI went on a resource hunt, and here's how the convo went.

Dancer Girl: Oooh I'd like a new outfit make me look sexy but not slutty

Me: Uhm....ok I guess I can do that...anything in particular you had in mind??

Dancer Girl: Well not another dress, and you're not a master yet huh?

Me: No, sorry I'm still not a master.

Dancer Girl: Oh ok. Well I would like a bathing suit, and accessories.

Me: Ok what colors?

Dancer Girl: ((Guess what color)) Would black be ok??

So I made her a sports bustier, hot pants, boots, an emerald pendant, a golden bracelet, and a metal band.

Me: Ok all done.

I proceed to put on the outfit so she can see it.

Dancer Girl: That's an awesome outfit!!!

Me: Thanks...I guess.

I open up the trade window and start to put them in there. I send her a tell saying it will be 2600.

She promptly tells me "But I told you I didn't have any money!" I said, "Honey I know exactly what you said and no you didn't say that."

She then burst runs, not just runs, but burst runs out of the cantina.

So I wasted the last of my resources on her....It made me so annoyed.

I just had to bring back this blast from the past... and tell about my experience last night.

Customer: Tailorx recommended you, i need 2 wedding bands, it's an emergency

me: I'm out in BFE, hunting

Customer: You don't understand, I need 2 wedding bands, we're already late, and George Lucas is presiding over the ceremony.

Me: (???) are you serious?

Customer: dead serious, please, it's an emergency

Me: (thinking: well ok, probably not true, but if it is, I don't want to be the smacktard who prevented this monumental event because I wouldn't go back to my shop)

IRL To Fiance: Hey hon, I gotta run back to my **** shop, this girl claims that The George Lucas is presiding over a wedding, and I have to make rings

Fiance: Yeah right, he's coming to Scylla?

Me IRL: yeah I know, but I don't want to ruin this, on the off-chance that it's true. Just keep running missions, I'll be back. *EXPLETIVES ENSUE as I try to make the shuttle*

Me: Ok, here's my shop on dantooine, I'll shuttle there, send me e-mails on what you want the rings to say, and what color, so I can have them made when you get there.

Customer: ok thanks, wear a nice dress - you're invited, of course, the wedding is at xxxx xxxx on Corellia...

Me: no no, I said that I could make the stuff, I can't deliver it (if it's sooo much of a rush it will take longer for me to make it and THEN deliver, instead of having someone travel to me while I'm crafting... besides, no frickin way is the George Lucas showing up on Scylla)

Customer: Ok, Groom is coming over to get the stuff...

Email from Customer: Rings shoudl say "blah blah blah" Oh by the way the groom needs clothes, help him.

Me: (this is getting worse!) no problem on the clothes, I have some floor models, he can just get one of those.

Customer: oh good.

Groom and friend show up. Both are Overt Imperials.

Me: you know that I can't trade with you now.

Friend (to groom): oh well I'll just kill you, is there a cloning...

Discussion about who will kill whom ensues

Me: ack, never mind, this is a rush, I'll just give you admin for a minute - if you rob me I'll kill you

Friend: hehe you have nothing I want in here

Me: (whatever!) Ok, well now pick a groom outfit.

Groom: Ack, alt troubles, Friend, you deal with this, I can't

Me: Ok, upstairs, you, pick outfit, move!

Friend: Ummm, I don't know.

Me: (Oh for the love of god!) Well pick one.

Friend: that one

Me: Ok (I pick up item and put it in a pack with the rings and drop the pack) here it is.

Friend: I don't have inventory space. Groom is out of game.

Me: (oh.. my .. god... just pick it up so I can leave) Total comes to 11k.

Friend: (tips me 11k, and that's it) heehe I got it.

Me: (takes friend off admin) Well I want to make sure you have everything you need before I take off. (AKA when groom comes back I'm expecting a hefty tip for such a rush job but I didn't want to make Friend pay the tip for AWOL Groom)

Friend and I chat it up. He transfers me 120 faction points (for my time). I play the mandeviol to heal him. 20 minutes passes. IRL Fiance is getting grumpy. So am I.

Me (to Customer): you know that the groom is just standing here - he's the one holding up the show.

Customer: <no response>

Me (in spatial): sooo... is it true that George Lucas is coming, I was under the impression that this was a rush job.

Friend: ah, I dunno, Groom is out of game, <some stuff>.... George Lucas?

Me: (yep... as I expected)

Groom: /bow /thank

Me: anything else you need

Friend: he's gone again

Fiance IRL: bah I'm logging

Me IRL: aww hell, these rat bastages ruined my night

Me: Ok, well i'm going to logthen

Me (to Customer): I'm going to log, hope it all works out

Customer: <no response>

Me IRL: George Lucas, my ass!

George Lucas? Couldn't they have come up with something more believable? Like Holo or Thunderheart?? Maybe a couple of CSR's?

Anytime I pass through a starport, especially Coronet, I get bombarded with tells. As any good tailor, I'm up to my armpits in crafting tools and materials. So I don't mind spending the time making clothes. Unless I'm off to do some serious imp-slapping (no offense guys, it's usually pre-planned and we get a nice little battlefield planned for fun only)

I sometimes get "Can you make clothes" But usually assume they are questioning my current supply of material onhand. Most architects don't carry every component with them as they travel, but thankfully tailors are different.

I had one guy tonight ask if he could getsome clothes. He wanted a shirt with a design on the front, but didn't know how to describe it. Well, I'm wearing a trim lined shirt so I ask "Like mine?" - nope, and I ask if it has the design on the shoulders and collar? - nope - so it's not a Leather Trim shirt.... and I must naturally assume it's the transport flightsuit. - nope, nothing like that - Hmmm, I think I'll make one anyway. Black flightsuits sell well anyway.

"That's it!"

I love knowing my craft. I wish you could get an Elite Master Tailor tag, showing that you truly know what you are doing.

Hey all.

Very nice thread and it shows that tailoring is far mroe complex then I thought.

I am working my way up the skills myself. I dont wear any tag that tells I am a tailor as I dont know if that will be my main profession. (Being master artisan and master DE)

I have one tailor I visit when I do need new clothes. Her work is amazing to say the least. I recall one time when I was looking for a special outfit and came across this Decorative vest on her vendor. It blew me away. I knew it wasn't the item I was looking for in the first place but the second i saw it I knew it was what I wanted.

I emailed her explaining what I needed and a few days later I recived an email telling me it was completed. The entire outfit consisted of the decorative vest, thin stripe pants and a pair of uniform boots.

I still recall the first time I visited her shop. After a few tells back and forth regarding oufits. (At that time I didnt know what i wanted) she sent me the waypoint. Walking into her shop I see all this amazing outfits on display as well as a few vendors and other costumers. I was told she would help me out as soon as she was completed with her current costumer. I spent the time to look through the huge selection of outfits she had for sale as well as display and picked out the clothes that I wish to have.

As she didnt have any in the colors I wished for I waited till she was ready to see me and she made me a few outfits that I tried on. I bought a double set of the outfits in different colors.

She is always busy with her work and the times I send her a tell about something I get reffered to sending an email, which I gladly do as this prevents any misunderstandings.

You guys do a great job in providing unique and great looking outfits. I am in now way ready or willing to compete with any of you nor with my friendly tailor.

This thread have showed me that there is a both a reward and risk with the displaying of a title. as there is with many other professions.

Keep up the good work all.
