Thread: OMG Master Level Items for under 2000 credits
well hmm.. thats quite interesting. but what about the stats on the clothing? ive had a shop for a couple of weeks and i have decided to stop building clothing for it and grind it up so i can make better stuff. Ive also hooked up with a bio engineer to make myoflex and the such to give my clothing stats durring the crafting process. Maybe all you master tailors out there can do the same. You'd be creating a much more inviting product and that tailor barron... and might just drive that person to change their strategy.

Oops - my bad.And I never thought LaoTzuSWG was going to charge people huge amounts for healing, I sort of got it. But I'm amazed anyone would offer any clothing item for 60k.
Take a look at either of my shops at Tatooine - both on the world map right now (-155 1936 near Mos Entha and -1931 -3531 near Bestine) and see what you think of the prices. I can promise a lot less than 60k for anything. A lot, lot less . . . I wouldn't mind hearing if a non-tailor thought they were fair or not.

You know something, I absolutely LOVE this idea! I have medic skills, but I've never spent much time in the medical center because it is just abysmallymoronic to hang around healing people without get paid.
A prepaid card that automatically credited my account for each point healed would make it a MUCH more attractive proposition to be a medic!
Until something like this is place, I'm far too busy to pay much heed to those sad little moans issuing from the Med Center. "Plz heal me", indeed! Do I LOOK like a charity?

more like Javrie missed something like not looking to see who was logged into the comp before making a post. This is the second time she's done it. One time was pretty rude on the Bria server and I don't even play there anymore.
The one part of this whole debate that I object to is that anyone who does charge over 2K for a flightsuit or whatever is "evil" and a "rip-off artists". Although no one has used these terms outright, if you look at the language that's clearly what they're implying. I have alredy stated several times that people can charge what they want (and if fact you don't even need my permission
), and customers can pay what they want.The main objection most "market priced" tailors have is that if a few people are offering clothing at these prices, then customers will start to believe that anything over this price is "evil" and a "rip-off". This is not the case, of course. High end players will pay this cost gladly, so most Tailors will never need to lower their prices. If a n00b is willing to scour the Galaxy for those rock-bottom prices, they will find them, and be able to have the Robe of Honor for a few hour's work.
I think there are some larger issues here such as "What is a credit worth anyway?", but they are not addressed by our discussions for the most part.
I always let people try on clothes before they pay, always make newbies nice things at a price they can afford, and if they can't even afford that I just give them clothes and ask them to pay me when they are wealthy (which they soon are, and they ALWAYS pay, without me reminding them).
Pricing is a strange thing. Someone wanted a robe of honour from me the other day. "I doubt I can afford it but how much would it be?". I told them and they were delighted. Half the price other tailors had quoted. Wanted one right now, thank you. On the other hand, I discovered today a tailor near me had recently made master and was selling flighsuits for 1500. Grand healers robes 2000. Leotards 1500 or so. I think the fleshwrap was 2500. That's a lot less than me, but I still get plenty of business. She's on the world map, so I'm sure people must go to check her out.
I made someone an item priced at 3300 just before logging off. "That's great hon, thank you!". *Tips 5000*. "Can I have another in black?" (and she paid 5000 for the second too. And yes, she did know my price was 3300).
I don't know what the moral of this tale is. But whatever this debate is about, it's not about rude tailors. I think we'd all agree, if any merchant is rude, don't buy from them.

I'm not forming a union to monopolize the market. You misunderstand me. What we were trying to do is get together with all the tailors and try and figure out fair market value.
I personally am not gauging anything. I onlyhave 3 boxes done on my elite status so you are accusing me of nothing. I am doing research by contacting the tailors in my area finding out what they charge for their items so that I can come up with a fair price for mine. I don't want to undercut anyone to try and take their business away. These are established tailors. I have admired them since the first time I ever walked into their shop and was treated very nicely by the way.
I don't have a large customer base yet since I set up shop 10 days ago, I'm not even really advertising my shop yet. People come to me via word of mouth.
Yes I do take time with my customers. I let them try the items on, I make sure the colors match. If they don't like it I will re-do it. They can even get their money back on an item I make. They are my customers and I want to make them happy.
I also don't want to piss off my peers and charge half of whatthey do. Because they are the ones who I will also depend on. They may be doing something else when a customer gives them a /tell and they may sendthem my way. I send people to the other tailors if they need something and I can't make it, or if I don't have the supplies.
Undie dancing has always been a huge no-no in cantinas. Those aren't my rules that I made up. It was always the understood cantina rules. When I firstdanced, I was in my noob clothes for over a week. I didn't have any money to buy clothes. Other dancers would give me their old clothes. And I would try and do the same to noobs who came in because I understood how hard it was.
It's sad that noobs come on and one day later they have a flesh wrap. They don't understand the value and the goal you have to reach that point. Should a new player come on and be able to fully utilize the best gun the next day?
I take offense that I am implied as not being a nice person because I want to conform to my peers and charge market value and not try and run people out of business. I also don't like it being implied that I don't want to help people and that I am snotty. You've never bought anything fromme, so you don't know that.
And I don't know why you think I am in charge of the whole tailor pricing system. all I am doing is my research so that I know what to charge once I am able to make those items.
also, if a tailor gave me a discount, I wouldn't go bragging about it because it could put him/her on the spot. I have gotten discounts from tailors. I would praise them to other people but if I knew it was deeply discounted I wouldn't go around saying "oh I got this for X amount because he/she is the best and only reasonabletailor". Because now everyone is going to go to them wanting that price when it is actually 50% off his/her price so that puts them in a bad position. I mean maybe he doesn't mind, maybe he will start making them all for half, but it's just something to think about.

It was because you were naked.Panties dancing and topless dancing have always been frowned on by the serious dancers in every area I've been in. The reason is because dancers think it belittles their profession and makes them seem like strippers. What they did wasn't right, someone should have privately sent you a tell. But I understand exactly why they didn't. I played a dancer in beta, and tried explaining the ropes again and again to new dancers who'd come in with their noob clothes and immediately take them off and start dancing. I'd try to give encouragement and advice on how to handle customers, answer any questions they had, and then explain the whole "why most dancers don't like folks to dance in their undies" philosophy. In all the time I did this, one person thanked me, several ignored me after I (gently) criticized their lack of clothing, and everyone else shot back "shut up witch, I do what I want" type tells.So I just stopped bothering trying to explain. Of course, I didn't mock them either, sounds like the dancers in your area lack a little class! But think about it, if someone had bothered to tell you "sorry, hon, but we think you should wear clothes, even if they are ugly noob clothes" how would you honestly have reacted?
It wasn't nice of them to make fun of you, but any tailor could have made you a cute but still relatively cheap shorts/shortsleeve shirt combo if you'd asked around for a dance outfitand explainedyour price range. No, it wouldn't have been Master level expensive goodies. But some of us think that the best clothes (just like the largest houses, best weapons, and toughest armor) should be an accomplishment, not the first outfit any noob gets.
Just so you know, the ugly noob clothes are actually a good thing to wear until you can afford better. Many tailors know what all of the new character outfits look like and will make an effort to check with characters in noob clothes and see if they'd like a new look. I always cut a large discount (on lower level items) to anyone still in their default outfits. If I go into a cantina and see someone in their undies, I never know if they're new or just tacky. I used toassume they're brand new, but have been wrong on thatand then insulted a few times, so I never bother with one of my "hey, are you new around here?" converstations with undies girls anymore. But if I see someone in the Novice Entertainer outfit, they're someone I always try to talk to. Not that it matters for you now that you've already found a tailor you like.
