Thread: SWORDSMEN'S ROUND TABLE: On weapons...

I would like to see the echani sword from KOTOR in SWG for heavy swordsman. That would be a distinctive weapon and a sword at the same time. I always feel like I'm about to go build something running around with that hammer.
Actually, bringing up the KOTOR swords how about that double bladed one? A double bladed sword (although that could be considered a rip off of the D20 D&D system) would be an interesting idea. Because of its desgin it could possibly be considered a polearm as well and it would be interesting to have a weapon that is shared by 2 elite professions. Ultimately though it should/would be a swordsman weapon if an idea like that were implimented.
i just want either two axes in each hand.... or a such a large axe that all tk pussies scream when they see me entering pvp...
And that god forsaken scythe?? where is it i am still dreaming about it at night...
/serious mod on
it would sound logical that we would not have two weapons due to the fact that we have two handed weapons.. both hands are busy... but more weapons would be great.. and please release that scythe out of the dark place it is now and put it in our hands...
thx to the correspondant :}
I wouldnt rule out dual weilding swords, samurai carry 2 katanas and in the right occasion would use two to improve their multiple fighting , all though i dont think it will happen, a fencer is someone who chooses to use his empty hand for balance, they do have both hands busy , so do we so we can equally gain the ability to wield two swords, but i think instead of the wielding two swords in each hand we have some kind of doublehit system to equal a dualweilding fencer
My idea is not so much a new weapon, but an add on of sorts. From what I gather, swords require a sword core component to craft. My idea would be to have variations on these sword cores to change the weapon. Basically it would be a permanent powerup altering the damage type of the weapon.
Here is an example:
A weaponsmith has access to a variety of sword cores when constructing his melee weapons. One of these types is known as The Heat Sword Core. When successfully installed into the weapon, this new core variant would act to heat the metal of the sword to a high temperature, giving the sword heat damage capabilities.
There would be other types, like an electric generator sword core and a vibro generator sword core to either enhance kenetic attack or change the damage type. What would this do? Well it would make swordsman more versatile. They could have three 2 hand curved swords in their inventory but they could all have different damage types, thus allowing the swordsman to choose his weapon appropriately for battle.
I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed this but in the Force Crystal Hunters Cave on Dantooine, the untrained weilders use a 2handed weapon just like the one in Nyms. Why do the Npc's have one and we dont?

Well, not really new by I might as well lay it on the table.
The Scythe
We are supposed to be HEAVY swordsman so I would really like to see a HUGE two handed broadsword. The weapons we have now are just too small (I also a wookiee ... )
this isnt warcraft 3 where the weapons are 5 time slarger than the peopel using them.
an arabian or persian HEAVY swordsman used a scimitar which was not all that bigger for most of the length of the blade as a european broadsword.
The term HEAVY does NOT refer to the SIZE of the blade, but the weight of the blade. A Japanese sword would be considered a lighter sword, a rapier, fencing blades, daggers, dirks, etc would all be light blades.
it would be the weight of the metal and thickness (note thickness, not width or length) of the blade that would have it construed as a HEAVY blade. I do not want to be forced to wielding some huge, ungainly, and absolutely ugly thing that I would never wanna pull it out of the sheath.
I actually kind of like the power hammer....... DONT TAKE AWAY MY BLAST DAMAGE. I swear if i lose the blast damage ill scream lol...... maybe a Stun-based scimitar like the persians used to use would be cool.
So..... i liek the power hammer, but i wouldnt mind a stun-based scimitar
My theory...
The Developers have talked about "Master Weapons Before," To make Mastering more important, and dabbling less effective.
I too agree, a final end-all-be-all weapon for Master Classes would be great, a weapon I envision would be a full blade. Ever see the movie Braveheart? The sword used by Mel Gibsons character is not a greatsword, but a fullblade -- longer, and much much heavier than a standard warsword.
My reasons for a full blade are many: It would look cool, immense damage that isn't just blast, and is a literal "awesome" weapon that would make a master HS, that much more appealing.
I am a Master Heavy Swordsman, and a weapon, any weapon at Master Level I would use because it's my "master weapon," I may want a full-blade, but would take anything.
Maybe a large double bladed sword? Or like stated, a super heavy katana (like a heavily folded curved sword, only better)
We do need some more variety in weapons, or even please...just put the scythe in the game! Our options are...well...limited.
Just a thought

sorry to quote a longer post.
The sword Braveheart used is a Claymore. Yes, i realize it doesnt look anything like a claymore that was used from liek 1600 and on, but thats what it was called. The medieval claymore WAS double bladed as well, with a 2 handed grip and would definately be considered a "heavy" sword.
I still want soemthing other than kinetic or electric damage though. Blast or Stun are the only acceptable means :-)
oh and why do I want soemhting other than electric or kinetic damage?
because everyone has that new 65-75% chitin and ubese armor....or the PvP'ers have high kinetic with 80% electric resists. Youd give us a cool sword...thatd be absolutely worthless in PvP.
Ranged weapon users can select froma variety of weaponry. Pistol users have multipel pistols with varying maounts of damage, AP rating, and damage type. Same with rifles and carbineers.....they cna pick and choose their weaponry pretty well.
Mlee users do not get as much of a choice. If we do get a new weapon or two they HAVE to be of a damage type that will be effective not only for PvE but also for PvP
