okay if we ever get a Cold damage weapon it should be Ap1 and like 130-200 damage ar3 cold damage woud just be to powerful.
but i do see this axe to be Ap3 or ar2 with heat damage or something. but having a cold damage weapon that is at ap2 then it wouldn't work i dont beleve because we would just destroy krayts without problems. and then an ar3 cold weapon is just out of the question. i mean that would be a cry for a nerf if i have ever heard of it and everyone will become a Swordman just to kill krayts with the cold ar3 weapon.
We're getting pretty far afield here. I've played a lot of Pikeman as well as Swordsman. For my comments on Pikemen specials modifiers, check some posts I've made in the Pike forum. I agree that Pikemen need some work but I'm not convinced that their damage problems and specials are as bad as they think.
I realy don't like the idea of "nerfing" our Feedback and requests to the devs based on the resistances of one stupidly rare creature....So what if Ancient kraytes are only 65% to cold instead of standard 95%? Realy, do you run into enough ancient's while fully buffed to take them down? And this does axactly what to our kill time of an ancient cut it down from 3 hours to about 1 hour? LOL ![]()
Seriously, we shouldn't nerf what we're asking for just because one creature has a "weaker" resistance to that damage type.....For every High end Mob you can name with a "weak" cold resistance, i could probably find 2 more that are damn near impervious to it. Its like saying we can't ask for stun damage because composite is weak to stun...when we allare well aware that ther classes already have stun damage...Same can be said for cold.
And thats Not even the point realy, i just don't want to see us get another "see we helped you" weapon that no one will use except as a steping stone to master sword for their next holo/Quest profession. AP3 would certainly be a Step in the right direction and with the damage they seem to be suggesting, almost a requiered step. The damage type Suggestion of cold is to get a seldom used damage type some more use, Have it become more avalible(if i'm not mistaken rifle and cryo grenades are the only current cold options?)....
Ap3 250-350Cold damage at 4.5 seconds does not seem unreasonable to me at all, in fact the Power hammer is still superior to that in most circumstances....Especialy the Commonsituations. Anyhow Cold may not be the damage type to push for due to the apperant preconceved connection of swordsmen with krayts(weather it isaccurate or not), Cold damage would only reinforce thispreconception(FOTM) of Swordsmen being "krayt killers"....In light of that Cold damage may not "benifit" the game as a whole because everyone will pick up swordsmen just for that rare occasion when they get this weapon AND runinto a krayt.
However, even with that said, We shouldn't give up on the suggestion....its a Stupid logic. But since stupidity wins out 95% of the time on this kind of topic, the Smart move is to push for a "concivably more balanced" damage type other then kinetic....We don't realy need or want another kinetic weapon....Especily if they make it AP3 and nerf the damage downin a kneejerkt21 fashion the first time a swordsmen hits an *unarmored* opponent for over 1k in pvp with it and everyone screams nerf.
A good idea i saw earlier tho, In its current state Why not just give it to Pikers and put some effort into "developing"(read:Pulling theRandom weapon generatingSlot machine todeturmine Damage-Speed-HAM-Accuracy-AP-Graphic-Cert) us a more desierable weapon? Just a thot ![]()

220-390 4.0 speed sounds good?
If this thing uses reinforcement cores, you can fit acklay bones into it. Stun batons are weak at 70-180 dmg, but toss a good damage slice and some acklay bones it's way, and you have a 421 dmg beast of a stun baton (yes I owned a 284-421 damage stun baton). This hack is weak at 141-272 3.5, but throw in some decent 140/140 acklay bones, and you'll be looking at 241-372 4.0
30% damage sliced and you'll be running around with 313-483 4.0 medium AR kinetic damage.
You know, I think it's definitely a plus to be getting another weapon, even if it's basically the same thing as a scythe. But, if I'm going to have to use valuable inventory and toolbar space on this, I'd rather it did something that none of my other weapons do.
Or, it could not require looted components, so that weaponsmiths can do large runs of it, like the modified republic blaster, and the featherweight fgw5. It could then become a less expensive version of the scythe. Most of the time, given the choice to use my scythe, which cost 300k, or my cleaver, which cost 15k, I go with the cleaver, because I can't see wasting the scythe on some nightsister or whatever it is.
I would work to get this weapon.
Just so I can make it and hang it on my wall. Other than that, would never even use it in combat.
Heavy AP would be nice, but I would be happy if it stayed medium AP and just had a damage type change. Not going to say which type, just a different type from the two we have.
(Quick Q.: Gabe, does AP have a discernible effect for PvP damage? Would a AP3 kinetic wpn. suck like AP2 kinetic wpns. do vs. composite/buffs?)
DEVs: making us swing with our arms (strength) is a start, though this needs to be a better band-aid forour prof.so our dev.time isn't wasted...
Premise: we are dandy for PvE, though sucky[& thereforerare] in PvP
Balance:
-PvE: we are the melee damage kings of PvE, AP3 would enunciate that fact, or would Cold damage as Krayt-Farmers instead of Heavy Armsmen
-Compared to other brawler-elites:
--TKA's: will soon have a base 250-400 Heat damage "mitigate this" 'nucks + utility/meditate niche tanking
--Fencers: their stun batons are the realtin-can openers in PvP + dodging/def.vs. tank niche
--Pikemen: like us, heavily dependent on looted DoTs for PvP, Hitx3& Blockborked, niche is looking cool while awaiting mindfire pike auctions
--Swordsman: bash turrets/walkers [anything permadeath usually isn't replaced/to be found again], look cool with scythes
Kick up the min and max damages in something like Acid damage to get out of the caves and into the battlefields more. We need to be the sluggish heavy hitters in PvP too, asin-game a Fencer or TKA can do more damage to me in a second, than I can do every few sec. to them [if I hit], while the only pikes I see in PvP are the lucky/rich few w/ Mindfire ones.
