At last someonewho´s not whining about balance and low defence. If you add master brawler you can both knock and dizzy before the TKA is in range to hit you. And if you have weapons that drains ham use enhancers that lowers them. User your specials on intimidation or even warcry if your lucky to get it in without resist, if you cant finish him in 2 hits dont use specials. The accuracy is though a bit bad before you hit master swordsman, but invest som time in leveling to master and you will do better in pvp. And get a good armour that does not eat up your secondary stats.


Concerning the new patch....


It rocks exept for the animations, but my fun is in my professions... the more they balance the more ill rock.

And some more points over that can spend on somethingfunny ! =)

Only thing I can say to that is I am a Master Swordsman and my accuracy is still weak at best.

Here are a few problems i dont like.


1 Pistoleer having a much higher melee defense, no class should have a higher melee defense than a melee class.


2 Our and pikeman's defenses are horrible compared to fencer and tka. So we get a big defense vs stun wow, they get melee and ranged defense over 60


3 All of our attacks except mind hits do pretty much the same. Why bother using sweep when it never works, and why use spin attack when area attack does the same.


4 Why are we the melee class with no attacks like stun,dizzy,blind ect...

About the toughness haggon, I believe TKA's get around 20 more than swordsmen do. I am fairly sure that a master TKA has 63 unarmed toughness, while my maximum two handed melee toughness when Ihavemaster brawler and master swordsmanwill be43.

My 2 cents, my swordsman character should be equal to a Teras Kasi in a 1 on 1 fight.


Until I can stand on an equal footing with that class, Swordsman is worthless.


Why would anyone want to be a swordsman when TK is so much better. Faster, stronger, with better defences.

I've been a master swordsman for a long while, and TKMs have always been faster, stronger, and have better defences. I'm a swordsman because I love the profession. Simple as that.


As swordsmen we have a lot going for us - but we shouldn't want everything. We as swordmen has a lot going for us. We do the most damage out of any melee profession. We have very powerful bleeds. Our 3 best weapons all are AR2 (medium). With master brawler, we have lunge 2 - if you headhit3 someone thats on the ground with a power hammer you'll almost get aminimum of 5k damage. I duelled a commando yesterday, used lunge2 and headhit3, and I done 2200dmg - in a duel.


Of course we do have problems. I'm a wookiee (great stats) and yet ham costs are hard on me - so Ipitty the rest of you. We have no state changing moves, with the exception of maybe a lucky dizzy from headhit3/areaattack3. Also, I'm doing great now - but before I mastered brawler, I was at a serious disadvantage - while TKA is a stand alone profession, I had to master brawler to rival them.

we need more than two damage types. blast and kinetic arent cutting it, when i can get a run of the mill mauler conclave mission where they have a master mauler, which has a insane blast and kinetic resist.


and also i am a master swordsman using a powerhammer that has -28, or -29, range mods. and when i go to attack something, i can see that i have a -42 to hit the thing, which is ridiculous. because i can attack something and miss it five times in a row. and for a class that attacks at the speeds we do, being able to hit, means life or death. (i think pikemen have it just as bad, if not worse)


i would say those are the biggest issues of our class. not being to hit things half as often as the other classes, and not having enough weapons that have a varried ammount of attacks.


also make our area attack do dizzy more often, it comes in really handy if things are going to fall on their A$$ when they go to stand up. that way we have a better chance of knocking something down instead of getting master brawler/lunge 2 in order to have a knockdown.

our KD does not have dizzy effect. Will be nice if we have it. If devs add dizzy effect tolunge 2, I'll be happy.

I agree with almost everything that was said.


I disagree with a few things:


HAM costs - I love my power hammer. It has 11 mind ham cost. If you get doctor buffs, the health/action costs are completely irrelevant. You can do mind dmg with minimal mind drain and heal away your other costs. With a 30% health cost powerup I'm down around 80 health cost and that aint bad. For those of you who dont like running with doctors (why?), don't like paying for doc buffs (again, why?) or feel they should be able to counter ham costs without a second player present, buy some breath of heaven from a master chef.


PVP - I do not feel like a gimp in pvp at all. I positively annihilate commandos and any BH stupid enough to keep his LLC equipped. I hit a commando for 1900 mind dmg the other night with scalp slam. The only people who consistently destroy me are teras kasi and eyeshotting bounty hunters. (Do not get me started on how overpowered eyeshot is)


Diff dmg types - You cannot add head/acid/elec etc dmg types to swordsman without adding them to other melee classes. Everyone except TK seems to have only two types. TK themselves only have one type. If you add them to others, by all means give them to us, but you can't only give them to us.


Kiting - yes the out of range msgs drives me nuts. But now that we have center of being I absolutely mock ranged attackers. I had a guy try and jump me at the load screen and i counterd 8 of the 9 attacks he got off before I was loaded and live. We also have lunge 1 at least (lunge 2 if you mastered brawler) which in most cases should enable you to get a savage mind bleed or a savage mind hit off on a target. Using speed burst also works well. I love using a "/emote puts on a sudden burst of speed." I get them to use theirs to counter, get some walls/building as cover, wait for it to wear off then run them down like a dog with my burst. We also are unbeatable in close quarters (attacking/defending faction bases comes to mind), except if a TK master hits one key and automatically wins his fight against us (unarmed KD 2).


I wish I got on this thread earlier cause it has so many msgs I probably missed some things, but those are my thoughts.

ok there are some things i agree with and a lot i don't. For instance all this crap about yeah swordsman is great....all u need is all these buffs and other brawler class moves to make swordsman good. So u telling me i've gotta get buffed everytime i wanna fight and i gotta master brawler or become a TKA to be a good swordsman.....erm excuse me when i say b***ocks to that. I didn't become a master swordsman just so that i had to train in brawler or get buffs to make my swordsman any good. Plus alot of the ppl saying that swordsman rocks for PvP against gun users are obviously fighting rather crap opponents because here's how it goes alot of the time when i fight ppl.


If they're aware in battle (like u bloody well should be) then they spot me and run......now what can i do, i'll tell u, stuff all, i run after him like a mad man, if i burst run...he burst runs, therefore i'm buggered. And in group fights anyone who is aware of me coming just runs while i get slaughtered by the guns blazing from all other directions. Granted CoB is step in the right direction, but it could possibly be better. Also what i wouldlike to see is the swordsman performing moves faster, i mean we have mastered the technique of wielding a sword, we're meant to be quick accurate and deadly at master lvl, not wave it around like a **edit** tree logger, did i say accurate? hmmm yeah now there's an issue, i miss too many times for someone who's meant to be a master swordsman. PS maybe a knockdown would be nice! don't even get me started on the out of range issue, but while i'm on that matter, it would be better if we could pull specials while running, i mean gun users can, why can't we. we need to be able to do something if they run!

I agree, swordsman need to be able to actually hit a target while running...


I have no issues with the defense stuff, cause most fire kinda bounces off me (ranged defense 52 :-) )


But then again defense is pointless if you have absolutely no offense. Don't get me wrong, swordsman do great damage, but it so sucks having to chase a BH a 1000m to finally to get capped and feel like a idiot because the bugs wont let me do a special from 5m away while moving.


The only other fix i can think of is to lower the HAM cost on the weapons we use so i dont kill myself in 7 moves. And no i am not going to get medic, it shouldn't be a prerequisite for all players. I don't think it should be such a huge issue to lower ham costs because its fun to actually kill your target with the damage you do and not because they get all their HAM sucked up from a couple moves. It could make PvP a lot more fun too because you'll be able to fight more than one guy before you're drained and someone withpistol 3 can come to finish you off.


Just my thoughts on the matter.
