Thread: Petition: Give us a sword to use

Some people dont see my point .... Yes, our weapons are effective, and I do great with them. The Scythe is fast, yet very powerful. The Power Hammer is effective with dealing at large damage at a medium speed. That is our primary weapons, a hammer and a blade. Do not call the scythe a sword, because it clearly does not look like one, thought I have to say, the scythe aint a bad looking weapon. Pikemen, Teras Kasi, Riflemen, Carbineer, Pistoleer, Commando, Bounty Hunter; all these professions have weapons that suit their combat style. Riflemen have rifles, as pistoleers have pistols, etc.
SWORDSMAN DO NOT HAVE EFFECTIVE SWORDS TO USE AT MASTER LEVEL. Im just about ready to let this thread go with all the flames im getting. It wouldjust be really nice to actually be a true swordsman, actually fighting with a sword all the time, and swordsman, truly do not have a sword to use effectivelyat master level. Thank you for all who signed this petition so far, thank you for your support. For those who flamed me, you only showed your immaturity in a serious petition such as this.

The point is having an honest to goodness sword we can use and hence will be seen with. Yes, the cleaver looks great. When's the last time you saw someone carry one?
We have fencers running around with sections of pipe and big black dildos, swordsmen running around with hammers and ....what is the scythe, really? a really freaking big straight razor? Looks okay only by virtue of size but it ain't a sword. We get the hack, which is frankly looks kinda ridiculous in use. Looks like the doodling of someone who played too much final fantasy or something.

This thread is supposed to be a petition where u sign if you are in favor of us swordsman getting an actual sword certified above Novice.
When was the last time you signed a petition saying that u didn't agree with it? if you don't agree you don't need to post.
I understand all the arguments for and against but if you want that discussion start another thread.

This is a tricky issue. It has been my experience that while a number of Swordsmen are just fine with whatever 2-handed weapons, many of us really want more swords. Getting this message across is difficult however. It is my impression that the development team is really scattered between different folks with different tasks and that communication is strained at times. It's hard enough getting details about combat problems to the right folks when the combat balance is a bit upcoming issue, let alone getting to talk to the art people.
I've brought up this issue a number of times (and the fencing correspondents have always harped on the same issue for their profession) and I'll continue to do so. It's definitely on the list as there is strong support, but I have to say that more general combat viability and combat role issues are easier to push and probably a higher priority for many.

I'd love a Vibrosword from KoToR...They rule.
I'd also love to have Sword clashes, sparks and low clangs when swords clash. The guns get all the cool effects!
