look, again, most of you flamers dont understand.
this isnt a plee for a better, stronger weapon... this isnt a plee to become yet ever stronger...
this is a plee to get a sword that, to use our hosts wording, we can use effectively at master.... im currently a novice swordsman, and the lack of a good sword at that master level is makin me seriously consider a change...
i like to social roleplay, i dont do it all the time, but one thing i want to roleplay is that, my character (Odysseus on FarStar) i wanted to use a huge sword, like a Glaive, or maybe a hand and a half... cuz thats the image i wanted to have for my character.. and that has been ruined by the swords included while still climbing the brawler tree.... i mean, give us the cleaver at brawler, and the curved sword maybe at novice, but to master the SWORDsman proffession surely you would need a SWORD... the whole game is based around logic and true-experience (for want of a better word)..... anyone here play anarchy? it was possible, in the anrchy world, to spend days killing creatures and put all ur XP into medicine use... how stupid is that?!
its the same for swordsman!!! we dont like the fact that we will have a clashing title / weapon.... soon if my sources are corect, you will hav Master Fencers with duel-wielded swords, Jedi with their lightsabres, Wookiee's have special armour ffs, and we, swordsman by name and nature, don't even get to use a sword...
to all you guys who grinded to get Jedi, or got it randomly, or whatever..... how would you like it if the devs decided that when you got master Jedi (or whatever its called) that you couldn't use a lightsabre apart from the one you built as a padawan..
okay i dont understand how the other proffessions work, whether Jedi hav to build new lightsabres as they get stronger but do you see where im coming from?
so again, for clarity...

I started swords yesterday - it's great... Only thrid box from 2 handed in brawler and I taking on things that I would think twice over with my 1/2 of the pistoleer profession...
But we do have effective swords, both the 2 handed curved and 2 handed cleaver have AP2 and good DPS - the two handed curved I am using ATM has 250 max damage and 1.7 speed..
Now, the combat revamp is coming, and I am sure that both riflemen and swordsmen are going to get a little shock when their T21 / PH's dont speed cap anymore... Other options will become very effective for masters, at which point this thread will become just a little pointless. I am waiting for the revamp to make come curved swords with my +358 rancor teeth, at which point I will have the DPS of a hammer with over 1000 max damage.
Jast wait and see.

in other words: this has been stressed out from the beginning, so i share your feelings about the topic.
The ball (gawd..i'm so obsessed with goals and balls these days..wonder why) is obviously in the Dev's hands and posts like this keep the topic, clearly to see, alive.
I hope and am rather confident that in a couple of weeks from now the door to the Devs will be opened somewhat more widely through the combat revamp discussions. I think we all will be getting quite a bit of feedback we've been working towards....

According to the revamp wording there will be novice weapons and master weapons of ALL types... aka the 2-hand curved will have a low damage and a high damage variation. Will the high damage one be equivelant to a scyth then? Who knows, but we will have a sword soon as the revamp comes of its own right.
Keep signing, but most likely soon as patch 10 hits the TC this issue wont be one.

What you are saying may be true Phoenix, but this petition is for a sword. Personally, I dont care if it is the Cleaver or Two-Handed Curved Sword, but at least give us any sword, thats all ...

/sign as much as a love the hammer, i secretly wish i could use the cleaver with more effectiveness... i just would be more fun
