Thread: How would you make swordsman a better damage dealer?

I didnt read all the Replaies, maybe someone posted it before.


I think too that the reward for swordsmen with rotw is too low, all we got are a few mid level things, but nothing really good like the pistoleers (they got over 15 pistols!)


Finishing move - maybe a bit like the "last-ditch" we hit for 4k and half of health goes down + the whole action and mindpool.


I think that we are already dam good damage dealers, the only thing I see is the Action pool and action cost of our weapons, we can do maybe 10 hits and then we are empty.


I have a good idea to manage that!


Give the Master Swordsman a "boost" ability (same like TKA) wich increase the regen rateforaction for maybe 150% or add 1k to the action pool! That would be the best to make us to real damage dealers


With speed buffs from a doc + this boost we have a good role in a hunting group

my computer decided to take a few days off

but im running again and all responses up to here have been noted.

a few thoughts:

I have been pushing for a useful sword certed at lvl 54 master swordsman. its remained in my top 3 issues. no love so far.

any adjustment to the action costs will probably take some major work and will be spread across most professions.

duel weilding probably wont happen any time soon, and if it does it will be a fencer skill.

keep the ideas comming.

It's all in the template, with full food and BE clothing and CoB i soloed 2 level 81 elite novas last night... plus the other 8 level 25 stormies. my temp is in my sig. It's all how you use it.


Of course, it would have gone a whole lot faster had my action bar not had been at 0 half the time


But i agree with us having a SWORD, i loved my scythe and used it in almost every fight. Now it hangs on my wall... useless.

Would the useful sword at lvl 54 also mean making the weapon around the 330-350 dps range? Our weapons need to do more damage! We are rated at 5 therefore we should have weapons that do that kind of damage.

ALso how about the necrosis sword? That is a MASTER SWORDSMAN cert, can you please push that to get a damage increase please.

Its all about the weapon powerhammers are great, but Id love for the necrosis drop to be usefull how about give it that 200 elemental damage the crystal gives to jedi it would be a very nice weapon then plus the whole logic part would work out. If berserk was a speed mod increase that would ROCK! It would really be much more fun also it might speed up these hour long melee fights.

Hmm dont forget that we can use Powerups - my hammer has now 440 base DPS and 785mod ... I think that is damage dealer enough.


I agree that we need a "Sword" ... a good sword .... a lvl 54 sword

And the action cost of course

i say lower the spd and action cost just a tad. The would definitely bring up our dps.

Swordman are already the highest damage dealing melee profession, because thier specials have the highest multiplier.You can hit for 3000+ and you're complaining ?????

Ok Velocity-x I'm starting to wonder if you're even a swordsman. Every time you have posted onthis forumlately you are saying that there is nothing wrong with our profession. Well I got news for ya. There is something wrong. Yeah we can hit hard, but only like5 times before our action bar is gone. Meanwhile everyone else is pounding away with their low SAC weapons.


Quit thinking that DPS on a weapon is all that counts, and that specials are what makes a profession.They're not. SAC is more important than speed to an extentIMO, especially in a long fight. Higher sustained DPS is going to come from lower SAC costs. Unless of course you're fighting a nuna, then I can see those 3k+ hits meaning something...

I would actually raise some of our skills up to master lvl so they wouldn't be as viable to dab in to get... Our best skills that we have are not Master LvL and because of this people would just dabble in our profession to get the best skills and become a better damage dealer then a master swordman themselves. expecally with Fencer having the best DPS/SAC on there weapons. The Fencer Weapons are so much better then Swordman, have so much variaty in the weapons they can use. AND they do the most damage. This Should not be imo.

Our Master LvL skills are Improved Berserk and Sword Furry... both are horrible skills that have no right to be in the master lvl box. i suggest moving thoughs down a few boxes and raising Advanced Amor Break and Improved Critical strick to master LvL. Dont change the skills at all just move them around a bit.

I believe that if this was done would make getting master Swordman a Must if you want to do damage instead of just dabbling into it to get the same damage output as a Master Swordman does.

Should be a reason to have Master Swordman as a title rather then just the skill mods.

I am a swordsman and I do not believe that any of the issues presented can't be countered by things already put in the game.


1. Weaponsmiths can experiment SAC down


2. Food+ Spice +Buffs can take care of your action issues even further.


This is why I say it's by design. I never said anything about DPS, cause I know that at master, it doesn't mean jack to me, thebalance betweenmax damage and low SAC do.
