So.. anyone else surprised that Tiggs (or any other Redname) hasn't come back since this?
Thought not.. The bi-annual RedName post seems to have satiated the crowd's thirst for attention once more.
What a load...
Sorry you feel that way. It has been very hectic with the launch of JtL right around the corner. Not to mention 33 profession forums, literally over 100 other forums and endless private messages, it takes a while to make the rounds.
Reading through all of the posts strikes up memories of how excited I was when starting my character and making my way up the ladder. I know it is frustrating when you get to a certain point in a game and think man, this isn't what I expected out of this profession or bugs become major issues to you. I made this post with the hopes that it would bring back the good memories and possibly help you remember just what you do like about your profession.
32 forums Tiggs, 32, you jumped over smuggler, but i do appreciate you take care of squad leaders, they are our partners at no-love game.
As for yu other replies in this topic i have to say that you're truely communicating, and for that you earn respect (at least mine, and for what i can see i'm not the only one). Sure we may not necessary like what you may have to say, but as long as you keep on keeping us informed, we won't shoot the messenger. In fact, if you do get us some solid news you may feel real love from us, as we want you to push for our issues, to stand by our correspondants and help us play a better game.
You may have read the anticipated "gettong to know smugglers and their profession" thread we did, and the main thing you can remember about it, is that for every single player who answered, a better communication is a top issue.
If you manage to do this, you will never see atroll or a flame, and we'll take care of you, but you have to remember you never get a second chance to make a good first impression.
Honest answers...
I never thought i would hear these words from a SOE represaentative ever, but even in my doubt, i will still, despite all common sense and all rational logic, believe you, that your intention is to give us Honest answers.
If they are blunt, or harsh, or something we do not want to hear, does not matter as long as they are honest.
We have been lied to since launch of this game. We have been cast dangling carrots on a pole, a cookie to eat evey once in a while and and leasing statements all over, like some sort of written tranquilizer.
I do realize this does not sound very nice or welcoming either, but as you said. Honest answers and statements are just that.
But i can assure you one thing, Tiggs:
Regardless of wether i like your answers and statments or not, as long as they are honest, i have the utmost respect for you.
Truth hurts from time to time, but what does not kill us makes us stronger. And in the end, it will all boil down to trust. It is at that moment, when honesty finally pays off adn carries the potential to save subscriptions, where shady business pranks failed.
My account is cancelled due to these lies and shady pranks. But i will monitor the information flow, you provide. If you hold true to your word it is for me, despite the state of the game and all it's issues, a reason to reactivate my account, as i hold honesty over shiny promises.
respectfully,

If there were alot of squad leaders on bria. I would round them up and protest, which may crash the server. But I am sick of being ignored. Our profession doesn't do anything at all. Besides a +30 defence mods.. like come on.

Just popping in to say hello to all of the SL's! I have been reading your forum and I see many negative threads. So I want to ask you what is it about Squad Leader that attracted you to make one? And what is your motivation to continue with thisprofession? Be nice in your replies![]()
Why did I become a Squad Leader?
I saw all the other professions as the pieces of the overall puzzle that is the Galaxy, Galactic Civil War, and game. I wanted to bring them together and lead my squad of warriors to victory. I wanted to hear thier cheers after the victories and I wanted to help heal thier wounds after the defeats. I feel that Squad Leader, more then any other profession had the innate ability to bring people together and allow them to work as a team, and I thought I could contribute to the community, my guild, and everyone else in the game by being someone meant to lead. I hoped that I could make the difference in a battle, that I would be looked for to help lead a raid because I love it. I want to help other people succeed through leadership, I want to watch the fencers and the rifleman and the creature handlers and the doctors all forget about thier personal agendas for a moment and become one solid unit. Thats why I became a Squad Leader.
Why do I stay a Squad Leader? The hope that one day my vision will be fufilled.
This is how I see the Squad Leader and I hope after JTLS we get something, anything, and hopefully everything. ![]()

Just my opinion but the name of the profession is Squad Leader, not squad supporter. I think first off all the bonuses need to apply to the squad leader (retreat burst run for example), secondly the abilities need to work when the player is solo. You have a trained profressional with certain skills, he still has those skills when he's alone, he just knows how to lead and rally anyone he groups up with to enhance their combat prowess, moral, ect..
I think those two things alone would boost the profession because the person is able to make use of all his skills and they all apply to him.
Other ideas for better benefits are a permant burst run type ability instead of just a retreat. Maybe retreat is faster then normal and the normal burst is about 50% a normal burst run but still faster then just normal running. What group wouldn't want to run quicker at all times?
Possible group xp bonus when teamed with a SL.
Then of course the combat revamp has to make grouping viable again if you want to have a profession meant to enhance it.
The ability to motivater others is not always the same as being able to motivate oneself. Not all people are able to push themselves to the same extreme that a TerasKasi artist might. But a Squad Leader's abilities are in motivating others, not necessarily motivating himself when he's alone. I wouldn't support making SL abilities useful in a solo setting. There are enough reasons to group in this game, and if you don't believe me now, try soloing Nightsisters after the CURB.
