Tiggs, sorry to bring this up, but we were told that JTL did not take any of the resources from SWG.
Community is excluded from that. We have to be in touch with all aspects of the game. That statement is referring to designers, Programmers, Art ect. Also that statement is very outdated (before my time) but I can tell you that in the gaming industry things change constantly and very quickly. At the time that statement was made it was true. Then along the line it was decided that JtL needed more and poof that statement is gone like the wind.
Yip! I agree you haven't been getting attention lately. Actually not much of any attention has been paid since publish 10 to anything other then bug fixes. Why? Because once JtL is out the door the loving begins.
I think you will be happy when you finally hear about Combat upgrade and what it does for your profession. Just hang in there and remember you may have heard things before but not from me
With that being said, NO, I will not answer any combat upgrade questions or go into further detail. Why? Because we aren't quite there just yet.
Perfectly reasonable, Tiggs. You are absolutely right and I know I am not alone when I say you are very respected by the community.

Thanks Tiggs.
That's probably some of the most open and honest communication I've seen from a red-name in a long while. Pretty courageous too because you're gonna get nailed on the JtL Development and SL fixes comments. You didn't have to say any of that but you elected to, and for that I respect you.
/salute.
No, I didn't have to say anything thank you for noticing =)
Note to everyone here:
I see all over these forums where you just want honest answers. That is fine but understand that I will give it and as long as I get the respect for being honest and not trolls or flames for it. In all aspects of life including the games we love and love to hate we have to take good and bad. It is how this information is processed once it is received. You don't have to like what I say and you can hate me for it. But respect the fact that I was honest (perhaps maybe brutally honest at times) and gave you the information you requested.

I met the guys working on the Combat Upgrade and they are in no way involved with JTL. They are dedicated to the ground so no one should worry about it in that aspect.
But they can't just go and make all the changes to the game themselves, they need testing done and the attention of their bosses which at the moment is focused on getting a major expansion out to all of us.
I have always been a proponent of waiting to fix SL until the combat balance. Itappeals to myperception of the SL as a force multiplier, and it makes no sense to revamp us until the combat changes have been nailed down. I howled as loud as anyone when the announcement was made that the combat balance would be pushed back until after the JtL release. I even considered quitting - and certainly scaled back on my play time. All mostly because I viewed the two as apples and oranges.
But,having been involved in the JtL beta (and this is so obvious I don't think it is any breach of the NDA) I have developed a whole new appreciation for the relationship between the two: The integration with the "ground game" is slick and undoubtedly requires a phenomenal amount of regression testing. I now understand and support the decision to push it back. It just makes sense. I am a patient man and I have faith that in time we will get what we are due. And I thank Tiggs for stopping in with some exceptionally honest communication. Please keep that channel open.

Tiggs, thanks for stepping up and giving an honest answer. You could have not said anything, or worse, come in and made some sort of obscure/veiled/nonsense/BS comment (ie, "Just you wait! Things are looking up! I can't tell you more now, but there are AWESOME things in the works for some point in the future!
"), but you didn't and that "brutally honest" answer is appreciated.
I can't say I appreciate many of the decisions that SOE/LA has made, especially with regards to the CB/CR/GCW and JTL scheduling, but I do find your clear, unpatronizing, non-BS comments to be refreshing.

So.. anyone else surprised that Tiggs (or any other Redname) hasn't come back since this?
Thought not.. The bi-annual RedName post seems to have satiated the crowd's thirst for attention once more.
What a load...Sorry you feel that way. It has been very hectic with the launch of JtL right around the corner. Not to mention 33 profession forums, literally over 100 other forums and endless private messages, it takes a while to make the rounds.
Reading through all of the posts strikes up memories of how excited I was when starting my character and making my way up the ladder. I know it is frustrating when you get to a certain point in a game and think man, this isn't what I expected out of this profession or bugs become major issues to you. I made this post with the hopes that it would bring back the good memories and possibly help you remember just what you do like about your profession.
So you're saying I was right? You didn't actually have any intention of helping us, you just wanted to pop in and hope we'ld all get quiet and bask in the glow of faux Dev Attention.
Well, I gotta give ya credit.. It's honest.
This isn't meant to be a personal flame against you, Tiggs (or Thunderheart). I (and several others I'm sure) just have a bad chip on our shoulder about all the BS that surrounds this fabled "Combat Revamp" and the multitude of "promises" that have never come to pass. We're just tired of getting tossed a bone once every 3 months that winds up being a rubber sneaker sole. You guys have alot of work ahead of you to get that bad taste out of our mouths.
Even now we're witnessing old promises broken: "JtL will not take any resources from the SWG dev team", well so much for that one. I won't get into all the old Combat Revamp promises and Revamp Promises. Heck, we were supposed to get revamped back in Pub8, and now it's post-Combat Revamp. Since the Combat Revamp hasn't even entered a coding stage (according to Irott), I think it's safe to assume a 6-8 week dev cycle (if we're lucky). So 2 months for the Combat Revamp, which puts the SL revamp something in January or February. And of course, if JtL requires work (and I'm sure it will, nothing personal but I'm a Software Developer too, I know how these things work) then it'll probably be even longer as these "Ground issues" are postponed.

More like the SL community hasn't gotten anysubstantive attention since launch.

I hope you will forgive us for not trusting you, but so far we have no reason to and as much as we appreaciate your stopping in a saying hello, that doesn't change things.
