Holy crap!

I didn't know we had all of these people in the SL forums. Would be nice if they bothered to post a couple of times. I just /love/ seeing people who never posted on our forums speak for us.

In other words, and I wont be so nice, get the hell out of here.

As for the folks who are not SL but want to help, we have plenty of stuff to read and you can post stuff there first. Just because a big red name posts doesn't mean you are actually helping us with your idea, in fact you might be hurting us.

I was wondering how long til this surfaced. I just wanted to remind everyone that while lots of us remained SL or active on the SL boards there are lots of people out there that want to be involved in the revamp who weren't SL, were SL but dropped it, would like to be SL if it were better or never posted here before period. They do have a say in the direction SL will be heading. People grouping with SL will have a say in the direction it heads. The profession revamp process is open to everyone, not just the old-timers or regulars to the SL boards. We just have to trust that the devs (and the corrs who have use their voice on the corr boards for this) won't listen to foolish ideas. I don't think it benefits anyone to try to exclude others from this process.

I'm not trying to pick on you in particular. I happen to agree with the last paragraph I quoted. People wanting to get involved should get acquainted with the SL boards a little bit, get an idea of what's going on and then post. Lets get this thing done right!

NP DiLune, I take no offence and even I understood that what I said could be elitist, thus the last part that you pasted.

I did feel it needed to be said, as a fellow SL allready kindly asked the same thing which wasn't listened too. There were just to many guys throwing in their 2 cents worth that had no place or right to since it doesn't effect them, but it does effect us. Hey, I have no problem with a different perspective either, but this is the first time I have seen TH (or any red name) since I started posting on these boards and that was when all of these guys came out of the wood-work, most admitting they have no desire to play a SL and or never were one.

I have no problem being a jerk if that is what is needed to get the point across, because as sad as it is, some people just do not understand anything else.

Like all the professions haven't been incredibly patient with the things that need fixed.

But could you please give us a little info on what's goin on? The "In Concept" is important, yes, but what do the Devs envision for a Squad Leader? Maybe some top 5 answers

My deal is here is to represent what you guys envision for yourselves (within reason =P)

Honestly, the devs are open to your suggestions and I want to collect them, organize them and deliver them during the development process.

Dont you guys have a vision of what you want to be?

We do.. we have several visions in fact

Problem is we're (well, I am anyway) kinda tired of the 1-way information superhighway. We give and give and give ideas to you guys, but we've yet to hear anything. Just some news of what they have planned, what they want to do, what they think of our previous ideas, etc... Acknowledgement of specific issues, What the original development concept of Squad Leader was, how the Dev's view grouping vs solo'ing, etc.

I hate to say it, but so little has changed that I feel your new in-concept thread is going to be a cut-n-paste of the last one. I'm sure some of us will happily re-submit our same ideas again, but some acknowledgement would help to avoid the "black hole" view the players have of such submitted ideas.

My major concern, recently, is are the devs really interested in grouping? Earlier posts indicated the Devs were trying to make the game "group-centric", but several decisions as of late seem to think they're shifting to a solo-ers game. With the new "uber loot" drops, solo-ing is stronger than ever. In fact, I can't think of anything specifically designed for a group to do, that a solo-er can't with half the headache.

The community is split between SL being a Master Sgt type leader or an Officer type leader. One improves his troops but also has his own special combat abilities. The other is a medium level strategist who doesn't particularly get involved in combat himself. From those two basic visions you could grow two entirely different professions. The problem is combining the two. You don't want to water it down into a jack of all trades issue where you have no high powered specialty abilities because you are mired between the two. But you also don't want to completely ignore a desired playstyle. That's where Dev input would be invaluable. How much of both can be added in determines the overall vision SL would shoot for.

I sure hope to god the Squad Leaders show up to the fan fest with plans for mobster-style knee capping of parties involved with the delay in _fixing_ the professions. I can tell you that the call for extra security in the fan fest forums will have to be two bouncer types for each dev on the property. Uggh, the red names disgust me anymore.

you don't want to hear it and devs don't want to hear it...but a SL should be the bard of SWG...plain and simple....

That's getting the cart in fron of the horse. The way this happens is when its time to start planning for apublish, there are a series of designer meetings. For us to be effective, I need all the player requests together before that meeting happens, so that when everyone gets together and has the planning discussions, I can represent your interests.

Well, let me phrase this another way....

It would be helpful in suggesting new abilities/functions for our class, if we knew what our existing abilities did.. Exactly what they did... We think several of our abilities right now are broken or not doing what they claim, so it's hard to say what's overlapping or redundant.
