Thread: Banning of SL account for using form up command?

The real issue at hand here is that Sabrinna did not MEAN to spam 1000 times a second or whatever they were saying. It was either a glitch or something weird with the lag in Coronet.. We were just trying to PVP not lag everyone out and annoy them! Now we don't have a SL to PVP with and we are trying to grind out another account to Master SL.

Needless to say we're all a little upset about this. Especially after I filed a ticket and tried to discuss this in CSR chat and NO ONE was able to give me a straight answer. I'll ask it again:

How many Form Up commands are considered acceptable in a place such as Coronet during a PVP battle, so we can adjust our combat accordingly and not annoy anyone?

The reason why this issue is coming up right now is that recently they changed SL so that it is no longer a planet wide affect... The range is limited now.. And when we are loading in overt in Coronet.. The SL doesn't really have time to run 900 meters away - and can't she partcipiate in the PVP battle too? Why does she have to run away from the fun because her specials are annoying and create more lag in an already laggy environment?

Has any squad leaders been warned and/or banned for using form up in populated areas?

CSR KeithR banned a SL account on radiant today for using form up "to often" as he put it in a populated area!

Any one else have these problems?

I am starting to doubt this more and more.

yes the sl was suspended and here is a link to screen shots.

Hello folks, I feel I should chime in here and assure all of you that our CSRs do not suspend or ban accounts for no reason. They do know how the game works and know how Squad Leader is played. The issue came about becuase we received a substantial number of compliants from the community about this particular player and the frequency of the profession commands being spammed (Yes I said spammed). They were being spammed so fast that it was actually lagging everyone in the area including our CSRs. This player was asking to find a less populated area and refused. The use of the SL commands was not what caused the suspension, it was the actions taken by this player after the fact that caused the suspension. You all do not know the whole story, and unfortunately, I can not tell it due to privacy reasons.
We are not saying you can't use your SL abilities, we are only asking that if you are going to macro spam to gain experience points, please do it away from the major hubs in the game that will adversely affect hundreds of other players in a very negative way.
With that said, I am locking this thread as it serves no purpose other than to promote dis-information and negativity.
Thanks!

So you can just be told to up and leave for using your abilities? That is pretty ridiculous. Most SLs try to be curteous by just spamming a simple "." (period) but we still get complaints. Quite annoying and it isn't the SL's fault. It is the dev's fault. If I ever got suspended for this I would cancel..

The problem here is that CSR's don't know the game enough. You don't get xp by sitting in one place and spamming your abilities like an entertainer (I believe Gary used the word dis-information?:smileytongue. I think a part of a CSR's "job" should be knowing the game, however accomplished.

You can sugar coat it all you want but you can't say that you suspended a guy for refusing to comply rather than using his SL specials. I mean, if I simply respond with a "No, sorry." , I can be suspended? How is that not being suspended for just using your abilities?

it just doesn't seem fair to me that SL's be the ONLY prof not allowed to spam!! ! This is basically like a guy being penalized for blocking punches as fast as the other guy threw em. Does it make any sense at all. Not to mention, CSR's don't have the best reputation for being overly familiar with the game, or even overly helpful for that matter. At times they are indespensable, but their reputation has been tarnished by events like when a few months ago A csr was caught saying that a turret had a LOT less hp than it in reality had. This led players to believe that the CSR was unfamiliar with the game thus leading us not to trust him, or most CSR's as a whole.

Not to mention CSR's are authority figures and people love to hate athourity figures

This boggles the mind. SL's as far as i know have been asking to be able to turn off the shouting when doing specials havn't they? if not turning it off put it in groupchat. ( I think that makes too much sense though, and we all know how good these devs are in the common sense arena). You can not penalize a SL for using their abilities anymore, then you can penalize a TKM for spamming dizzy/KD. This is absolutly appauling.

Combat is so **edit**in b0rked right now

PS. anyone notice they deleted most of the original posts on page 1? **edit** is with the censorship on these boards, is this an american company or what.... welcome to the soviet republic of SWG comrades

The fundamental problem here is twofold. One, how in the world did someone manage 400 commands in 3 minutes? That's over 2 per second. Shouldn't happen. Two, SL cannot stop saying something when they use a command. I would love to see all combat professions have to say something everytime they use a special. The entire game would be lagged out. The low population of SL has kept this from creating lag of gigantic proportions I suppose. Perhaps its time to just get the spatial yells removed completely. Its not fair that the SL has to keep his combat commands to a minimum while any other combat profession can spam theirs at will.

And lay off CS. They are in a tough spot (how would any of you like your job to partially entail dealing with irate and often irrational people? Just because that's their job doesn't mean we should take advantage and heap more abuse on them.) I personally think telling someone to use their commands once every 30 seconds is pretty sketchy, but I don't think that means people should be flaming the CSR. You don't have to like what he said, but you also don't have to continue to attack him or CS in general. He didn't know, they don't know that /formup doesn't generate SL xp...so what? We know and we know how it sounds, but I won't hold someone else to my knowledge.

(yeah, I know its their job to know the game...its still no excuse to flame them...be disappointed? Sure...flaming...nah.)

busted logic! I work in a restaurant, if i under cook a piece of meat because i wasnt familiar with it, and someone gets food poisoning, thats my ass on the line. Ignorance is no excuse. If this is their job, they should no it inside and out, and if they dont know it, they should look for a new line of work
