Hello folks, I feel I shouldchime in here and assure all of you that our CSRs do notsuspend or ban accounts for no reason. They do know how the game works and know how Squad Leader is played. The issue came about becuase we received a substantial number of compliants from the community about this particular player and the frequency of the profession commands being spammed (Yes I said spammed). They were being spammed so fast that it was actually lagging everyone in the area including our CSRs. This player was asking to find a less populated area and refused. The use of the SL commands was not what caused the suspension, it was theactions taken by this player afterthe factthat caused the suspension. You all do not know the whole story, and unfortunately, I can not tell it due to privacy reasons.

We are not sayingyoucan't use your SL abilities, we are only asking that if you are going to macro spam to gain experience points, please do it away from the major hubs in the game that will adversely affect hundreds of other players in a very negative way.

With that said, I am locking this thread as it serves no purpose other than to promote dis-information and negativity.

Thanks!

Gary I am sorry but PvP is lacking at times on our server so wherever we find it will be the battleground. Usually it IS in a populated city so there is nothing we can do about it. We can't just say "STOP THE BATTLE" to the rebels and then say "We have to move to a less populated area to PvP, so our SL won't be a disruption". If you want us to move to a less populated area to PvP give us back battlefields!

What I am saying is that we can't alays choose where to PvP so where we find it thats where we will fight. So we either need SL's fixed so they aren't so annoying or give us back battlefields so we can take the fights away from the rest of the population

Dear Mr mathews or Bruce:

It is obvious that you are trying to avoid this topic by all means possible. As you can see, CSR's are taking what is annoying them in game, but people have no choice in the matter to do due to their current profession. The have not heard this person both on the forums and in the Community Help Channels. To blame one individual for crashing a complete server is something you do not want to admit and you have. It is obvious this person has used their specials to help the group they were supporting, The SOE Rep stated that they must avoid spamming their specials in major cities. Well because you (SOE) decided to take out Battlefields and other pvp place that aren't populated it's force the rest of the community to pvp in major cities. Now because you as SOE force the SL's to shout thier commands, and it now has bitten you in the butt you are going to try and cover up your descions to the fullest. Every once and a while you have to admit that thier are problems in the game, but unless you fix them you should not be capable of punishing people. Sure this person may have been a little bit rude but think about it. If your were threatened to get you accound banned for someone using things the game makes the use what else is one suppose to think. I would have to concur that I would also spam this command in public, may to put a fire in the devs but to fix the combat portion of the game. If a SL has no other option than to shout commands how can u manage to suspend and account and than justify it for playing the game as is with no exploits no cheat nothing. Please if you have a justified answer and not some half ass answer and why i've seen Screenshots of this player being banned in every community help site. As a paying customer is this the type of childish custormer service i'm to expect.

This is niether constructive nor necessary. Already the manager and a supervisor have replied on this issue explaining what went on, they do not suspend people on a whim - so please stop bashing the CS and realize that they did their jobs and it's after all only a suspension - they still can play when they get back - and that maybe we should all just be a bit more careful with where we spam.

Thanks.

but you have to understand that these people are being hipocrits with the massive amouts of AFK merchants that spam in each city that have yet to be banned. Not to mention if the spamming was a problem can you give me a valid point on why SOE implimented the Merchant droids that spam in the cities? you can't. They added a feature to the game that allows you to block AFK spammers. Sabrinna was afk and because people decide not to read the updates abd block the spammer they wouldn't have this problem. Sure they just suspended it. But are they going to suspend every person that spams their WP to their vendors in game. It's the only justified solution.... of course not.. these responses are hipocritical.

This gives them a reason not to shorten how far a SL has to be to spam commands. So now for a SL to avoid being suspended, he must be outside the city in a rural area spamming commands.

/sarcasmoff

I want to give you the chance to really discuss this, and I understand it's frustrating but really please think about it - why would we want to ban people who were not actually causing a problem? This is a buisness and as a buisness it's about making money - there is no money to be made if that person doesn't play their account.

There is a difference between acceptable shouting for your profession - and just flat out trying to make it unbearable for others.

Let's take a deep breath and step back for a moment and digest what Gary and Bruce and I have said - and then with clear heads come back to the topic?

Bruce,

As a Master Squad Leader, those specials we use are crucial to any strike force. A lot of Player vs. Player (PvP) combat takes place in cities such as Theed, Coronet, and Bestine. It is not uncommon for Squad Leaders to be shouting orders a lot because that is all we are really there for (and yes, the +30 defense bonuses are nice too). I assure you if there was some way to toggle the spatial 'spam' off, I guarantee you 95% of Squad Leaders would. I hate seeing it on my screen just as much as everyone else does, but it is really quite the effective macro.

Why, may I ask are AFK spammers allowed to do the same exact thing outside (and inside) of starports like Coronet and Theed? These people incredibly slow down the game for people with even 512MB of RAM and ruin gameplay; is the Auction chat channel not supposed to be for this? Squad Leader 'spam' while annoying, is gameplay in Star Wars Galaxies ... not some merchant who spends $15 a month to run a macro in a major starport.

Granted the person in question got mouthy; I would have stopped when asked to despite not being fair. That much is clear and was not needed. However, was it not said by a Developer (no less) of the game that this Squad Leader spatial 'spam' is allowed because we cannot help it? I'm quite sure it was posted on the forums somewhere. Getting a Developer to post in here and confirm it (again) may lower any confusion about this and set the standard for the future.

Thanks.

understandable it's a business. with that being said I am a consumer. And with a total lack of perception of this profession and how it's forced to play is like giving you the right to bear arms, and if you leagally pocess the weapon and it's in your hosue locked up and the police find it your going to jail. its hipocracy at it's best.

I hardly think that Sabrinna was spamming SL specials just to make it unbearable to others. There was no reason she should have been suspended because there is proper steps to ignore the person if you do not wish to listen to them. SL area part of the game but if you don't wish to listen to them simply /addignore or if they are afk then put on the afk chat blocker.

I am sure it will come up tomorrow Myself, in game cs, and irott will probably all be talking to the devs about it. What you say is very true though, and I think it's at the core of the issue - despite agreeing or disagreeing if a CSR asks you to do something it's probably for the better good to just follow directions and ask (politely) either through email or on the forums what the policy is on it.

granted he did say he would be spamming in every city despite what the CSR said the deal is what is one suppose to do. wait 30 seconds in a battle for your whole guild or group to be off their back . in PvP battles can be won or loss in 30 seconds.
