Thread: Regarding the Inadvertent SL XP Change on 10/22
Not have a say? I ONLY took that from the dozens and dozens of post that cropped up saying the new ninja formula was terrible and promotes AFK. It's not better by any means except if you want to do nothing but be AFK.

this right here is the problem not only do we not have a say at all but nor do you or even the dev the programmers are going to do whatever they feel like or are being told to it is as if none of us have a say
i am not trying to point fingers at anyone especially you, you are trying and i comend you for that
it is a noble effort especially for a class in this much need of help i started as DE and htought it was bad but pikeman and squadleader are right up there
my point really is the devs are being kept out of hte loop on this stuff too yes they have a say and in turn you do to and yet again we do too through you and so forth
it is jsut frustrating realizing this is a glorified beta test even 3 months in
The current system needs to pay attention to pets as a member of the team, they are grouped via the CH skills but yield NO SL xp. I discovered this when I was learning about my new profession and it was me and my 3 pets; so my time as a Master CH counted for nothing and I now have to plink away with a pistol and hope someone is nice enough to group with me. (Maybe after164 days with 50 battles won in a sitting I'll get there; grouping with 10 others)
I was thinking of using the MOB defeated itself as a SL xp factor. The group coordination to defeat the baddie is what a leader does isn't it ?
Perhaps if you where grouped with at least 1 other (pet or human) you could get a base % of the HAM bar as SL xp and the number of members of the group have a positive modifer to this number. This could reflect the coordination of the group by the leader.
ASIMPLE METHOD: If I'm expected to climb the same XP tiers as if I was wielding a weapon then give me SL xp the same figureas my weaponxp whenworking with a group.

The current system fails to make SL mastery a remote possibility. Leading a group of 5 people and 5 pets gathers 600xp maximum per battle. Being that as it may the XP requirements total to about 4.9 million which equates to about 8200 battles fought and won each gathering the maximum amount.
No FS for me ever I guess as I have been instructed to pursue the class by a Jedi (square) holocron.
I just had a great idea fora usefullnovice skill.
The first thing to do is coordinate a battle right? Well when the battle field is choked with MOBs and everyone needs to attack the same one to dispatch it quickly HOW can you tell your group?
The /sysgroup is fine for announcements, but the %TT text is the same for the "Kamurith Defiler" and the one right next to it...
Why not create a "/marker" command to show to all the group the target to go for? People can tab around till they find the right one then the group can lead the assult. It's a tactical benefit of having a squad leader in command of the group. (and slightly better than the current ability that equates to screen spam essentially)
Somthing simple like an arrow bobbing up or down over the selected MOB perhaps, and a special status marker when the creature is targeted. The code is already there because we all see the stauts markers from our attack effects already don't we? Just add another status Symbol "Marked" that drops on the death of the creature or when another creature is set with /marker
I have been in a few group situations where there was confusion as to what MOB to hit. When you are up against big creatures it's important the entire group rallies to the same creature. Divided we all get picked off as the groups efforts are not focussed.
This could add a bit more support and general use to having a Novice SL around.
HI !
I am new in the Squad Leader Profession...And during the last 5 days of this new profession,i think that it is quite impossible to raise to Master Squad Leader for now...and even if it is possible, the reward is much lesser that the difficulty of mastering it...
For the formula i think Combat xp * number of player in group is quite good,if the AFK mode prevent gaining the SL xp...
For the Pets (faction pets, and the others too) i think that all pets can count for 1 player,or each pet can count for 0.5...
the last option is as said before, lower the cost of SL skills...
Thanks.
Asilar, Novice Squad Leader,Kauri.
"I REALLY like the profession, but it does me no good to have it other than the title."
there you have it... you have now learned what it truly means to be a member of theSquad Leader profession.
This is a bit out of the box, but a Squad Leader is both an active AND a passive combatant. passive from the standpoint that the SL needs to be directing troops and cordinating the battle. This was posted earlier so I won't get into the details. Let's just say I have 20 years of military experience to back up and confirm that post.
On my dream sheet I would like Master Squad Leaders to be able to direct other Squad Leaders, who in turn have their own Squads. This would allow larger groups on the battlefield and create a better control environment. I've actually been seeing some SLs use this tactic and communicate through tells. It does little for group XP, but it is a great way to do business on PvP.
SL XP should be directly related to the use of commands for the success of the group, and of course the bigger the group the more XP, as long as the commands were used.
Lastly, since this is a long range type profession, there is very little chance to gain faction XP from PvP DBs. There is not even a provision such as snipershotlike riflemen have. I would suggest that a small percent of faction points, or even a flat rate of 1 or 2 points of faction per DB made within the team might be called for.
