Excuse me? 10 to 9 isn't even statistically significant, much less consensus. What your poll shows is that we're divided on this issue (we being the 19 people who responded, out of how many playing the profession?)

There were questions earlier about why people would want to "nerf their own profession." The answer is, we don't see it as a nerf, we see it as an (exploitable) bug fix. We believe that the squad leader is a profession designed to lead groups of players, and if you want to get better at it, that's what you need to do. We want to preserve the integrity of the profession.

"But I am leading a group!" is the answer, "My pets are grouped with me." So? Leading pets is a different skill set. Should I get carbine XP if I use a pistol, or weapon crafting XP for building a house?

Furthermore, when we recognize something is wrong with the profession - whether it helps or hurts us -we should report it and work to get it fixed. If we want the developers to take our input seriously, we need to show them that balancing doesn't just mean making us stronger, but fixing the things that are too strong or exploitable.

Not statistically significant? Hrm...let me ask Mr. Gore what he think's a few votes can do. We have had what? 50 different Squad Leaders post here (who've actually achieved squad leader status) so Yes 19 out of 50 is a significant factor.

Sorry but like you posted above stop saying "We" you need to speak only for yourself you don't speak for me.

Then Pets, droids and faction pets should not be able to /group at all. Why was this put in the game otherwise?

Again, stop with the "we" speak. I've actually used all the skills and know how they work and have reported 2 with exploitable loopholes. What's your background?

Any results that are 10 to 9 or 8 to 10 or anything like that clearly shows the community is totally divided, and no mandate can be found. To report to the devs that the community supports soloing SLs or non-soloing SLs would be a great injustice, as this thread shows that neither point of view is sufficienlty representative.

If anything, it shows to me that its not something we can settle ourselves very well, and must simply allow the developers to express what their Grand Vision is, based on all of the viewpoints, arguments, and ideas we can offer from our points of view, and make or do not make, the necessary changes to reflect it.

Actually after sending in my squad leader exploit list to Taurin, I got conformation that I was. Like I had posted earlier I could have claimed to have unlocked my Force Slot but without screen shots who would believe me?

Voltaris has the right idea. I agree we should wait and see what the dev's say about the class. We can put forth suggestions but in the end they will decide what goes in.

I do believe that pets/droids/factional pets were intended to have squad leader abilites used with them though. Why else have them /group with you?

The second part of my post above was an attempt to answer the question posed by a few people earlier in the thread ("Why do some people want to nerf their own profession"). We, in that context, refers to the subset of players who don't think pets should contribute to SL XP. The usage is both grammatically correct and empirically defensible - there is a clearconsensus amongst those of us in the "no" camp on why we'd advocate this so-called "nerf," as evidenced by the fact that we all cite the same objections in our posts on the topic.

I understand the points of view held by "yes" camp, but I disagree with the position.

My objection to the summation of the poll was the use of the term consensus: it's quite apparent there is not general agreement on this issue even among the small set of respondents. Given that the people who responded to the poll are only a tiny fraction of the SL playerbase - and we're evenly split on the issue - we can't present statisically significant findings on the views of the SL community to the developers.

We can agree that it's an issue worthy of developer attention, if only to answer the question "is this working as intended?"

And I agree that there is a consensus amongest us in the 'yes' camp that there should be no change to the droids/pets taking up space and thus = more squad xp.

And I would agree with you 100% on this. I was in beta 3 and a lot of the advanced professions did not get looked at closely enough. My only thought is that since pets/droids/factional pets are allowed to be invited into groups they should be counted. What other reason would you put this feature in if not to benefit them by using Squad Leader abilities?

I thank everyone that responded to this poll. The squad leader community is by far the most mature and most rational forum on this board. I don't have to do a poll to see this in evidence.

Hmm, I have no problem with pets receiving the benefits of my Squad Leader skills, but I believe they should not receive them until another player is in my group (and in range, say 150m). And even then, you wouldn't get XP from them.

Pets get benefits if you're grouped with at least one player.
Pets never give XP.

Thats my idealized world To each their own, and may the solution the developers give at least please someone out there!
