But I think it would make sense they did make it 8 player group now considering the icons and everything and the faster paced nature of combat in CU. Well even if it were 20 max still that technically makes it 100 players in a platoon, imagine that .

I've been thinking about this and just want to put something onto the table that I don't think has been considered yet.


Where does a Creature Handler, Factional Troopers and Combat Droids fit into a group of 20 players? They don't.


The Creature Handler has no place because they couldn't include their multiple pets into the group. With a group of 8 you could have a few CH to fill out the group to 20. If you have a single CH in that group of 8 everyone else could use a Combat Droid or NPC Trooper to fill the group and add to the CL and SLxp.


While I do support the notion that a group with a SL should be able to expand the group size I do think we need to consider the Creature Handler and Droid Engineer's role and purpose.

I've always considered CH to be more of the solo adventurer ranger type. Thats me personally, but then perhaps a master SL could grant small bonuses to xp like how the cries of alderaan is.

I am assuming therefore that an 8-man group of combat professionals should be able to do anything in the game - Detah Watch Bunker, Corvette etc. etc.

Somehow I doubt this is the case at all !!

Furthermore - as has already been stated, what about pets, droids, faction pets etc. ?
Do they count to the 8 max in a group ? That really will upset the Creature Handlers.

Finally - it seems logical and very appropriate that Squad Leaders would get skills to increase the group size, maybe not up to the original 20, if that is deemed to be overbalanced, but up to 12 would be a nice, and significant increase.

I also like the platoon idea, which I would like to see as part of the revamp.

I'm getting my 3rd account in a couple of days - going Master SL ... and I better get it ground out before the CU hits !!!!!

Personally, I'd love to see a MSL able to increase the size of a group, if this 8 person group thing sticks.Although,I'm a little worried about the ramifications of this, since I really enjoy the yacht parties we do on my server, and you need to group to go up on a ship...not to mention the enjoyment from a full group in other things.

Jemus - they instituted a new system for boarding yachts and large vessels. You no longer have to be grouped to be invited but only those in group can operate the ship, everyone else can just mingle (they said up to 30 people in a group on the yt1300). They also have created a kick from ship command where the own can kick anyone their ship.

Great idea, and more than ever encourages some basic SL abilities to be moved to Scout (via a proposed "Reconaissance" tree(s), moving traps to hunting and exploration to survival) to make room for this, and make the scout prereq more valuable for scouts than the current camping nonsense that is useless.

Another option would be to allow the Squad Leader to Group Groups for purpose of Raids.

In WoW, Blizzard has a similar idea for Raid Group, maybe SWG can take look at it and make a imporve version.


In WoW, the max number for a group is 5. Everytime when the group leader invited 6th person to the group, it automactly form a raid group. The max number of raid group is 40 people. Total of 8 groups. Everyone in the raid group can view a Raid Group Chart. The chart let everyone know who is what group, and who is the leader in each group. The leader of the Raid group, which is the first group leader, can move people around. He canalso appoints group leaders. Who ever join the Raid Group can use Raid Chat, which doesn't limit to group leader.
