Thread: Who do YOU want to be the new correspondent?
I think schnokt would agree that we would need one of the forumposters with a long history and commitment to the SL profession and knows how it works andhears from the commuinitywhatis needed to be done and can quickly...sad thing is I cant think of many people who have stuck with squad leader the last few months.
And i'll just laugh if TH gets some SL holo-cronie to be the correspondant.
I can't decide between someone who never whines but doesn't give a **edit** and that drinks alot of alchohol andeven slurrs out histyping, Maybe writes an entire meaningless paragraph. example:
"Ok the number UNO thing squadleaders..........require.........is........ My squad leader can tell people to shoot and thens and thens YOU GOT IT!?"
or
A complete ultra whiner who will argue at everything and will threaten multiple "law suits" for no apparent reason, demands things that can only belong to other classes for himself. Like he'll complain he should be able to dance too and will visit dancer board and even make war with them. on top of it he just became a novice squad leader.
i also vollenteired, although im still a bit shocked cap V recomended me... I'm the last person i would have picked, i'm sure anyone would be able to do a better job then i can...
however as much as i hate how Cap was treated over the past 3-5 months and how our comunity has been constantly iggnored i still feel that now is not the time for us to be unrepresented. if we are ever going to make this profession worth the time and effort we have put into it, then we need someone that can get in the DEVs faces and let them know we are frustrated and still waiting for changes to happen

Thunderheart, if you are reading this, please select someone who has been posting on these boards and has been working on there issues for a while.
Nobody wants to be Squad Leader correspondent. There is nothing to correspond.
It does not take a genus to figure out what is broken about Squad Leader
Everything
i put in for SL the minute i saw we needed a new one.
Am I the right man for the job? Maybe..but none of us really knows if we are or not. Stepping into CV's shoes isnt gonna be an easy task.
All i know is this.
I was an SL in beta. Im a master SL now. I keep up on the SL stuff every day, im on the forums every day, and i play every day, for hours. Being in College, and having a GF who plays htis game..i dont get pulled away to do other things often and can commit time to it.
WHile I have some ideas and suggestions of my own, I would be but the humble representative of everyone here. Ive listened to lots of ideas and concepts in the past..and if anyhting would be easy about SL correspondant itd be thta this group is VERY unified and knows what they want. TONS of good ideas coming from everyone.
Im up-to-date on the needs and demands of the SL, love SL, and want to see us actually being desired to have around.
anyway... I dont hope much to get Correspondant with so many other good people lookin at it, and Vem having recommended others. But if i do get it ill do my best to carry us forward.
at the very least I do know that with the community we have here and the solid committment those of us who have stayed aroudn have, we're sure to get the dev's full attention when they do look towards us at last. And yeah, ill use a typing program with a spellcheck before i write anything...my typing is horrible :-p
good luck to all the other guys who volunteered their time and effort. Lets hope we finally see a difference soon.
heh looking over this post you could probably say
| insert name here | is applying for SL correspondant.

lol funny guy. Never seen you post on these boards anyway
When I first read this response, I was a bit shocked because I've been here and actively posting for quite some time. But then I realized something: There is a MAJOR issue happening within the Squad Leader Community...and I'm not talking about the Captain's resignation or the lack of dev response, but it is certainly aggravated by those...
IMHO, the biggest problem (might need to be #1 on the infamous "Top 5" quite honestly) with the Squad Leader profession is....*drumroll*..... Cynicism.
As a group we are LEADERS here. We all started starry eyed and excited about leading groups into the heart of Star Wars adventures and ended up with...well, you know what we've got. We've got a profession so gimpy that we can't even keep up with the groups we're supposed to be leading! The much touted problems, combined with the political turmoil that's been happening here as of late I am afraid is turning us imbittered.
We are now so embroiled in drama that constructive threads go unread. Personally, I've started several threads trying to foster positive and constructive discussions and they've met with positive review. My current average rating is 4-star! (granted, we areSO unnoticed that I don'teven have to fight withthe ninja 1-star ratings that plague other forums
...yet these threads and many others go untouched and unread because floating at the top of our forum is newbie and/or non-constructive complaining!
Suck it up, SL's...We have WORK to do. The Captain has proven that getting dev attention is not going to be easy, but I believe the eyes are moving in our direction. Let's be prepared and most importantly, start being Constructive!
TH will select a guy who he likes. It will have nothing to do with them posting on the forums and nothing to do with your community.
-I personally have nothingagainst the rifleman correspondent but I can say this he only had 17 posts on the rifleman boards before he became our correspondent.
I think TH is trying to undermine the professional forum communities, especially communities that are outspkoen and not afraid to post negative comments. I have seen a link to a site where Ralph Kostner describes on how to run a forum community and in it hestates that you must undermine all criticism and try to isolate critical people. If you notice that is going on right now and has been standerd procedure since day one.

I got thick enough skin, it didn't offend me...just surprised me. Then I realized I should take a lesson from it: Y'see I have 2 pet threads I started that I stickied for myself. Both threads got excellent responses from everyone who posted to them, and I was feeling pretty good about that. The trouble is that we are so inundated with repeat/newbie questions and (more pointedly) whining and non-productive arguments, that the productive threads quickly fall out of general view.
I'm afraid that many of our best ideas are getting missed because everyone agrees with them!!
...Maybe I should go through all the good threads and post something controversial into them so that people will keep posting to them and maybe the original ideas might stick around long enough for people to read them!!
