I know our profession has issues, and we do need some attention. And not to say that rifleman as a profession is subpar, just that the one week wonder professions usualy are filled with people that arent very team oriented so I'd rather just not have them around when things get serious. It's a mindset realy, and I think people who tackle the professions that arent served on a silver platter tend to be filled with people who are more usefull and helpfull.

frankly i'm sick of hearing this kind of bs on our own forums...it looks like a good chunk of folks who have skills in squadleader don't even know what they are doing.

i'm not coming backto the sl forumsfor a while i think. maybe by then you squad leaders who only whine - and make us out to be more borked than we are will have dropped it and moved on to something you might find more enjoyable.

like jedi lol.

i am a master squadleader! that is the role i play! we are supposed to be a Support proffesion. i have built my template completely around it. its working AWESOME for me.

because I'Mnot trying to be UBER.

and thus my GROUP is UBER.

And some people are satisfied with imperfection. Clearly you are one of those. Please. Feel free to go think of youself as the uber SL on another forum. We won't mind. In the mean time, we will continue to push for changes to improve the profession. You dont have to be apart of that if you wish. Many of us want to see our profesison inproved, not mediocre, but good like the other professions. We spend the SP like everyone else. You argue that it is support. Well, if this profesison was anything like the other support professions you would have a case, but reality is....Doc > SL, CM > SL, CH > SL. Right or wrong, no group going on a raid would pick us over a Doc or a CM. That should not be the case. We should be that which all groups revolve around, not the last one picked because the commando stayed home.

We are not asking to be uber. We are asking to be able to do our job right in a fashion that there is a true noticable difference between a group with us and one with out. That is what we are here for is it not?

I can guarantee you right now, any group you are in would be better off with a Rifle/CM.

thats exactly what i'm saying! thank you! this is a another sl whine thread - not constructive in any way, so don't be high and mighty that your helping anything, i looked at your posts and your guilty.

just like a pistoleer has to pick up other proffessions to compliment thier primary role, so do we to be effective.ie other support proffs.

if you play the role of Squad Leader and pick other skills that compliment that you will be the first picked.

the cu was all about combining templates for hybrid masteries.

those who gripe the most are probally not playing MSL asthier primary role and are wanting the proffesion to be something that its not.

everyone who comes up to me to ask me about master squad leader says "i heard you guys are broke and worthless". thank you to those of uswho do not fuel this common misconception.

i'm not saying we don't need more, but overexaggerating our problems is only making it hard for all of us my man. your guarantee is worthless in my case ask anyone in my squads. if your not getting asked along in groups over a rifleman/cm you might want to take a look at your template and playstyle.

and by the way Drevin...i suck at this game, i am far from uber and claiming a guy who has a 100% group support template is looking to be otherwise is rediculous in this game.

if our proffesion is mediocre, everyone i play with is wrong.

are you still arguing about your right to flame anyone for being a little positive about our proffesion? there are good ways and bad ways to try to get what you want. drop it - go back and get to "helping the proffesion" the way you see fit. your wasting precious time. i've said my piece, i don't need to repeat it again cause its already been said. you've said yours, end of story.

now... back on the subject

I am the one flaming?

My first post, and the subsequent ones afterward can be paraphrased with my first paragraph....

What would you have us say in the thread? That we are not broken? That everything is fine? That we are a huge asset to the groups? Sure we have advantages that we add to a group, but in many cases..they pail compared to having another fully templated player in the spot.

Your first post on the thread was....

frankly i'm sick of hearing this kind of bs on our own forums...it looks like a good chunk of folks who have skills in squadleader don't even know what they are doing.

Funny, the way it looks there, you are the one flaming everyone else.

Now, if you are finished warping the past, let's move on to the future.

Look, we have devs that don't know what we are.

We as a profession have 2 choices here.

1.) we can stand around saying we are all good, and pray that they figure it out on their ownwhileconvincing ourselves we are fine.

or

2.)Tell the devs what we are (they admit they don't know) and give them ideas on how to fix it.

An example of how our skills are "okay" but could use some help is: In an age where foods are buffing for 200+ melee/ranged defense, our +30 goup melee/rangedisn't looking so hot. Sure +30 is nice, but its not up to standards for they way the game is now. Making our skills +100-150 would help us help our team while not being out of balance.

If you are willing to help with #2, then /truce. Clearly we got off on the wrong foot.

FYI #1 doesn't work.

We are in need of fixes, and we are in need of some more benefits and well rounded abilities. Our profession is somewhat different then most others in that the player makes the profession rather then the profession makeing the player, so dealing with our player base is a little awkward. I want to see some attention given to us because some things should be polished and working better. The one problem looming for me is that if we do get some attention and our profession is worked on, will it be reasonable and according to the mindset and work ethic that the squad leader has come to be known by? Or, will we be worked on a little too much and become the next one week wonder dabbler profession?

This shouldnt be an issue of, either/or, setting ourselves against eachother. It's simple as this, we need to be worked on, but not revamped. Fortunatly we tend to be more cool headed and have given good feedback of what we need staying within reason. I dont want to debate with fellow squad leaders, rather, I'm all for working with you stay focused on our goal and not stray into the mess that quite a few other forums have become.
