Squad Leader Archive
Thread: Those of you not drafted, look here.
Me? I'm completely drafted!
I started playing the game for the enjoyment of eventually playing one of the Galaxies peace keepers and arbitrators.
This class (SL) blows, despite my natrual tendancies to enjoy (and persue) leadership positions. Ithink it sucks, badly.
I'm grinding my way through just because the holo said so. I really enjoy leading and helping people but I can do that without the aid of this silly waste of XP and time. A quick /yell is enough to coordinate a group or most often I use group chat despite I'm a SL.
For a class that could be so powerfull and helpful, it's really tends to let me down on the bang-for-buck (read =>xp)
Thanks for letting me be honest on how I feel. The title is an investment in time and energy and I salute those who have attained it and those who continue to aspire to it simply becuse they like the idea.
But as someone has already said....I'll be dropping this class faster than a $10 hooker.
When I'm done I'll bepursuing something more interesting that can actually do something whenit's away from a squad.
I too live in foolish hope of this profession actually meaning something one day. I've never looked at a magic 8ball.
And yes, I too am a rifleman as well. Looks like everyone here are the people who got smacked by the bad-kharma bat, magic 8ball or no.
SL by choice of sorts. I play a LARP and lead a group there and my PA lacked some leaders for feild operations. So I took up the profession.
As for taking borked professions.. Carbineer/SL. I think if I pick up some Driod Engineer or chef, I will have it all covered.
I'm a squad leader by choice because I always liked the Paladin in Diablo 2. I don't play massive online RPGs to be a solo artist. I play to group with others. Yes, maybe it's broken now, but Rangers used to be just more advanced scouts and now they do a lot of cool stuff. I'm optimistic about it. I'm four skills away from master, and it's my number one goal.

It amuses me how people claim that our skills don't work etc. that the terrian bonus doesn't function and few others skills while reading the forum for the past few days. (only skill I've notice not to work is volleyfire..)
Dude! Vollyfire does work.. but you have to know how. IMHO it's a great skill when you get aggroed by 10 MOBs on Dathomir, or leading a squad into battle for PvP. Most people don't know how it's supposed to work due to the small number of Squad Leaders out there. If your group is engaged with multiple enemies, target one and /attack it. Then use /vollyfire. Anybody who's in combat, on their next attack, will fire at what you're targeting. It won't change their target on screen, and they'll rarely even notice except that they loosethe nextattack to whatever you're targeting. There are afew of caveats with this though; It won't make melee or heavy weapons attack your target, it won't affect anybody who's not in combat, you have to be engaged with what you're targeting, andeach individual'spersonal weapon modifiers apply (they may or may not hit). Just some advice. It's saved our butts multiple times, especially when all heck breaks loose, and you want to start picking MOBs off one by one. Even with a seasoned group it's hard to say 'target and attack "a bola"' when there's 5 of them running around. Hope this helps.

SL By choice. What the hell is a holocron, I don't believe they exist, just another thing for people to bitch about :-) (J/K)
Also Master Medic Novice Pistoleer Novice Rifleman Novice Combat Medic and some scout (just what I need for SL)
Coronet, Correllia, Wanderhome (when it's actually up and running)
I chose this path of my own free will.
I'm typically a crafter or rogue by nature but figured I'd step out of my usual comfort zone for this game incarnation. Chose carbineer (a great weapon in theory!) for the combat orientation and SL to maintain a support role in my group while letting me practice leadership skills. Well.. said support isn't very supportive today
so I'll stay on this path until the abilities are looked at and implemented. If the profession still lends a tangible benefit to my PA I'll keep it. I'm still hopeful and optimistic.
yup... before release I had my character planned out for how *I* wanted to play... too bad in terms of min/maxing it has turned out to be the absolute MIN! hehe
I'll probly reach master Rifleman this weekend and SHOULD have had master SL last weekend until the breakage occured. Been working on this character since release (but haven't been able to play much due to work)
i am master marksman/ master pistoleer/ and 1 box shy of master SL
ive been a SL ever since the second or 3rd week of launch. Woulda been master by now but i spent a lot of time solo levelling master pistoleer. I pretty much consider myself a master SL anyway since the proff really doesnt work anyway =p
