Thread: Banning of SL account for using form up command?

I do find it humorous that they claim to know how SL works..
If they knew how it worked, then they'ld realize that none of our abilities work if we're not in a group.. We get a "You must be group leader to use this ability" error message, and no spam. The sheer fact that he was spamming /formup means he was in a group..
/sigh .. I see his 3-day suspension being over well before we get a good answer.. Jessea? Irott? TH? Anybody?
you are absolutely 100% right. That's the worst part about it. The CSR lagged soo bad he had the time to send this person to 0,0 disconnect them from game send them an email and suspend them.. yah right by butt.

When it happens I can't say.
What it seems like you guys are arguing about is just that your guildmate was banned. I don't care that they were banned... I care about WHY they were banned. The problem with the Squad Leader spamming isnt just your PA's issue, its the entire games issue and I want to remedy that.
It is a shame that the outcome was banning but its just like yelling at your boss... your bound to get fired.
That's only half the problem irott. WE need to know this won't happen again. The reassurances we got last time seem to have been hollow, at best. I want some reassurance that the next raid I lead on Coronet or Theed won't result in me getting banned for 3 days.
I'm frankly surprised to see how "calmly" you've brushed aside this issue.
Come on, Yeraze. This guy wasn't banned for simply leading a raid through a city. He was banned because the CSR believed he was spamming over 1000 commands per minute. This is not a SL community issue! If you honestly believe your account is in danger because this guy got banned, well... sheesh.

Things like this take time... You would be surprised how long it takes to get through all the red tape on changes. *sigh*
if you look at the ss's get real and notice prior to her getting logged offline the commands were only being said every 2 seconds... get real and jump down to reality.

Except from whats being stated by everyone except the csr in the screenshot, he wasnt. He was spamming once per second...in fact in the newest screenshot in this thread(the one where he relogs the first time hes kicked), it even shows it once per second...along with the CSR telling him "Now no more spam" just as he logged in.
What actually happened doesn't really matter. The fact that the CSR somehow believed the SL in question was spamming obscene numbers of SL commands is what matters. It seems most people here are upset that Squad Leaders are once again getting in trouble for spamming our abilities. But this isn't the case. A single player was punished for spamming 17 commands a second, not for SL-related spam.
You can, of course, be upset if you believe the CSR was incorrect and that the player was indeed not being unreasonable in his ability use. But do not tie this event to the previous incidents involving SL spam.
But if the csrs claims of 17 per second, do not have merit(which can probably easily be checked via game logs, along with whether or not he was spamming before the server crash, which, he wasnt) then he should not have been banned. Anyways, his origional email states it was due to him spamming SL specials that he got banned. NO OTHER REASON WAS STATED.
Please read what I said more closely. I don't care if the guy is innocent or not, though it appears he is, at least of the initial claim of spamming. All I want is for all the Squad Leaders to keep their wits and realize this is NOT THE APOCALYPSE, that we are not getting in trouble as a community because of our command-related spam. Everyone keeps complaining "I thought we cleared this up last time," when in fact "last time" is completely unrelated to "this time." Last time did not involve an individual thought to be spamming 1000 commands in a single minute.
Again, whether or not the individual is innocent is a concern only to himself and his/her friends. The SL community need not be concerned by this incident. This behavior (1000 commands/minute) is not typical of Squad Leaders, so we have no reason to be upset with the CSR system.

do the math that's 17 commands a second. It is impossible to do this.. my god quit making yourself look retarded.

You STILL aren't reading or comprehending my replies. It doesn't matter to the SL community what the reality is. Everyone is fearful that SL's will again be punished for spamming our commands. But we won't, because this individual was punished for another reason. Whether or not that reason was correct in the end is not important to the community.
Yes, the truth is important to the individual and I fully understand that he was not indeed spamming specials. But there's nothing about this situation that requires the immediate fury of the Squad Leader community.

they weren't punished for any other reason than spamming commands. My god did you even bother viewing the SS's the ban clearly stated they were banned for spamming form-up... woah you truely are blind or retarded.

Let's step back a moment and view things from the CSR's position. The CSR believes that a player is spamming 17 commands a second. These commands also happen to be Squad Leader commands, which means he is /shouting 17 times a second. This is clearly magnitudes more often than is necessary, so the player is given a warning. Push comes to shove and the player disobeys the CSR, resulting in the player's suspension. That is an accurate account of what happened, no?
My point is this (and I grow tired of saying it, so it'll be the last time): SOE did not ban this player for using his Squad Leader commands in a normal manner, as was the case a few months back with the "stop yelling when you use your abilities" fiasco. The player was banned because the CSR honestly believed the player was spamming a vastly unacceptable number of commands. The squad leader community doesn't need to be concerned when a player is banned for this reason.
I don't expect you to fully grasp this, because it is apparant that you're too emotional about this issue to be able to separate yourself from it and view the confrontation from SOE's point of view. But then again, I am the retarded one.

I am looking at this from all angles. Believe you me. Think about it the emails stated that the CSR was laggin horrible. Which means that when they get caught up they are going to be spammed in the spatial with everything instantly. Instead of jumping to conclusions that this SL was intensionally spamming the command 17 times a second (which is still impossible) they need to ask questions vice warning and putting them in the middle of no where and suspending. Disobey a CSR that is telling them to not play the game the only way allowed come on be realistic. Do you pvp? Do you know where PvP happens? Major Cities. Do you know in pvp some one can come in tef'd at any given moment and you roll right into a battle..

But how can 1 CSR justify this. Think about it. I could get hired as a CSR jump on my 600mhgz Gateway with a 64 mb graphics card log on 56k go in game and point out all sorts of people that are cramping my style... this was acted on in a spur of the moment unprofessional and uneducated manner as all the ss's show.

I wouldn't expect you to grasp it either. It's obvious that you do not pvp or do not contribute your character day in day out. Sabrinna has been in every city and every player city for about 3 months doing this with absolutely no problems. One say the server crashes and they blamed her. You do not play on Radiant therefore you don't comprehend the full circumstances. For you to make accusations and not take the time to research the post but to come in here and make flagrant flames is rediculous and makes you retarded. Look at the facts and make an opion, don't read the cliff notes and write a report.

Well, that's my concern exactly. The CSR "believed" he was spamming commands 17times a second, when the screenshots & logs clearly show that he wasn't. So either there's some type of Game Bug that's hosing up the logs and showing unnecessary stuff, or this CSR just got a bug up their butt and found an SL as an easy target.
Either way, it doesn't bode well for us. Whatever made "Steve" believe Sabrinna was spamming is still out there, and could happen to any of us. And as it sounds right now, we have no recourse but to
- Not use our abilities.
- Fight out in the wilderness, and hope the PvP follows.
