Ok...so, I've become an XP whore...for lack of anything better to do...so I'm out killing Jantas and Mokks on Dant so I can pick up Pistol XP to convert into Reflexes, which I'll then use to get the Vehicle Control tree.
Anyway...here I am surrounded by Mokks at this one mission (which I sliced and ended up with a 45k payout 
)...and low and behold, I get this /tell (I had put up my tag and made myself searchable while I was shopping on Corellia earlier in the day and forgot to go "anon" afterward when I started hunting)...

I've got the knives but don't know what to do now. I'm new.
Now, at the time, I'm being beat on by 5 Mokks, but I'm buffed, drunk on Brandy and full on Canape'...so I decide to be nice and try to help the newbie out. So, I throw a couple of things up in the combat que, then sit back...
Me: New? Like brand new novice?
Newbie: Yeah.
Me: You have a container? because that's all you can slice. (Wanted to make sure he wasn't trying to slice a weapon or something).
Newbie: Yeah.
1st Mokk goes down. I tab to Mokk #2 and fill up the combat que with LDs.
Me: Ok, click Slice, the guess a wire to cut...either red or blue.
[long pause]
Mokk #2 dies, tab to Mokk #3, que LDs.
Newbie: Ok...it says I'm already slicing something.
Me: Well...either your window is hidden behind something. Or, you're bugged...in which case you'll have to wait for a server reset and try again tomorrow.
[long pause again]
Mokk #3 dies, tab to Mokk #4, que LDs.
Newbie: Ok...it says I've disabled the security (blah blah blah...whatever the box says after you successfully cut the first wire)...but it's not doing anything. What now?
Me: Cut the other wire. You have to cut both wires.
Newbie: Oh...ok thanks.
Me: np
Mokk #4 dies, tab to Mokk #5, que LDs.
Me: Make sure you find some mole clamps before you do too many of those. They guarantee that you cut the right wire every time.
Newbie: Where do I find those?
Me: Should be able to pick them up in any Smuggler supply shop.
Newbie: Ok...they'll be called mole clamps?
Me: :Molecular clamps.
Newbie: Ok.
Mokk #5 dies, I kill the lair and head back to get more missions.
I'm slicing the terminal and get another /tell.
Newbie: Where did you say I could find those mole clamps?
By now, I'm getting kinda frustrated with him, but I'm still willing to help. I suppose I could have told him to come to where I was, which happened to be a player town called SMUGGLER CITY...but I just replied.
Me: Any Smuggler supply shop will have them. Do a search on your map.
Then the one that took the cake...
I'm headed back out to do my new set of missions and chatting with a friend of mine who had just come online. And I get this in the middle of my conversation with my buddy.
Newbie: What are shadowpaw, giggledust, (and whatever the other Novice spices are) and how do I get them.
My initial response was: Dude, you don't need that stuff. (Thought it had come from my friend...who also happens to be fairly new to the game.)
Then realized it was Newbie from before: Oh...you don't buy that...you make it.
Newbie: How do I make it?
Now, I'm really frustrated, and just want him to go away.
Me: Go to the forums and read the FAQ. I'm kinda busy now.
After that, I didn't hear from him again. Maybe he actually took my advice.

I have read up to page 23, and these stories are great.
Anyway, I got a smuggler char on Starsider. The other day I'm in Theed buying containers off the bazaar when this lady asks me if I needed some. She said she had 23 (!) that were taking up her inventory space. I said "Yeah let me get slicing 1 first." Well, I finally made space in my inventory, we traded, I put in about 10k into the trade, she said it wasn't necessary. It was crazy I got 23 containers free from someone I don't know. I thanked her and added her to my friend's list as "free slices" for when I get slicing 4. Not a funny story, I know, but it's great to get help when you're new to a profession. This definately helped me especially since all my slicing tools, new armor, a few new guns, and containers have costed me 500k (that I traded via server) and I'm down to 15k, so those 23 free containers helped a ton.

Working on MS on Kettemoor - taking my time but enjoying the interaction.
Was at the Tuskan Fort the other night when a Guild swept through the Fort stealling every kill I was trying to make.
Got annoyed, told then what I thought, to a rousing chorus of indifference, until they noticed Slicer Tag I had left up.
Got 4 / 5 tells asking for slices. Normally charge 5k per slice, but as I was annoyed I told them I would charge 15k per slice .. but if they left all my kills alone I would give them a discount and only charge 10k. After a bit of grumbling they realised I was the only game in town so agreed.
Outcome - 10 slices at double my normal price, no pack rats swarming over my kills as I work up my Pistol XP, and one very happy Smuggler.
I love this thread - sadly it convinced me to shoot for MS.

Was handing out some free samples to people to drum up some trade and had just managed to persuade a new medic that some Gabaki was just what she needed to cut down on the mind cost from healing wounds. Which it does. Honest me.
I had said there would be a couple of minutes of downer after the hight and that she should avoid using the medic stuff until it wore off, but had not said anything else about it.
The mayor rolled up, said hello, thanked everyone who was hanging about for helping a newcomer settle in, and asked me if I had been peddling drugs to his new resident.
I said no.
She puked all over him.

So, I'm in Theed waiting on a buff (With my Master Smuggler tag up) when this guy runs up to me and says;
"Can you slice my helmet for me?"
"Sure." I reply and tell him my prices.
He agrees, we trade and he hands me a RIS armor helmet. I use my clamp, cut the first wire and am about to cut the second wire when....
"I'm hoping for an effectiveness slice."
I groan and cut the 2nd wire...sigh.
"Well," I reply "The Smuggler Gods have heard you and have granted your wish. However, you neglected to ask for a good effectiveness slice.....11%"
I then lectured the rest of the crowd waiting on their buffs that the Smuggler Gods are listening and that they do have a sense of humor.....just not a good one.
Fortunately the guy took it all with good graces
