Hi,smugglers. I've read a lot of these forums, but never actually posted much. I've decided to post a little story here about astubborn person.
I was walking around aimlessly and shooting random thingsafter picking up a newgun when I got a /tell from a guy.
Him: can you buy/sell rebelfaction
Me: No.
Him: u sure?
Me: Yes. I'm sure.
Him: rely? wut r ur skills?
Me: 2324.
Him: u sure? i think u can.
Me: Yes, I am sure of what I can and can not do. I'd look for someone with the title 'fixer' or 'Master Smuggler'.
Him: u sure.
Me: Yes.
Him: rely?
Me: Yes. Really.
Pause.
Him: sure?
Me:Yes.
I literally ignored at that point. Didn't even bother to type in the command.
I then got some WUKs, did some slicingand RPed out a conversation with an imperial NPCabout what I was doing. (allwith 'nervous' mood on, of course)

This old story is from my smuggler days, its kinda related to slicing.
Here's the deal. I'm in the fields of Talus, and I need som WUK's to slice 25 crates of survival knives for xp. lots and lots of xp. I do a quick search, find a master weaponsmith. So, I send hima tell, and....
Me: /tell Weaponsmith hey, I'm a smuggler and I need a huge boatload of Weapon Upgrade Kits. Can you do that for me?
Weaponsmith: Sure, I can do that. It ain't gonna be free if its in bulk though, that okay?
me: /tell Weaponsmith Sure
Weaponsmith: I got a factory, so come around tomorrow to this wp- (some coords)
So, I do my thing, kill stuff, harvest junk, that sorta thing until tomorrow comes along.
Me: /tell Weaponsmith okay, I'm gonna head to your factory, and pay up.
Weaponsmith: K, I will meet u there
I head over to the harvester, and the guy's waiting for me there. We greet each other, and whatnot, then get down to business
Me: okay, this will do (he trades me like 15 crates of WUK's)
Weaponsmith: Okay, that'll be 150k, I used sum real good resources.
I consider this for a moment, considering whether or not I should bargain, cuz this guy may be a MWS, but I really think he was a n00b to the actual thing. I decide to take a look at the stuff, and they are WEAPON REPAIR KITS with a functionality rating of like 0.00079!!!!
Me: wait, these are Weapon Repair Kits, and they aren't even good at all! I won't buy this!
Weaponsmith: Hey man, I used the resources, I cooked a schem up, and I used that time in the factory, u owe me! Pay or I'll have to report you!
I grumble, and fork over the money, seeing as the guy is right, although very little.
Me: Fine, but don't be comin to me for any help in the near future
Weaponsmith: Fine, don't be comin to me for anything
We go our seperate ways. But, two hours later...
Weaponsmith: I made myself a new gun, could you slice it for free?
I've killed this guy on every occasion I see him. I've also had a somewhat similar situation with a doc and buffs, instead of smuggler and slicing.
I hate n00bs. This guy was a n00b. newbies are okay, but there is a difference between n00b and Newb.

People think I'm crazy anyway. Are they right? Depends if I've had enough sugar. Usually I'm crazy. Hehe.... Crazy person with a flamethrower. Be afraid.

801.5 on teh penguin thingie.
anyways.. while im not (longer) a smuggler i was one briefly when i was grinding holos.. and this is my smuggler story from way back then.
As one of my professions before smuggler i did Ranger, and about that time my guilds Armoursmith/smuggler needed alot of tatooinian wooly hide to stock up. So i killed a incredible amount of banthas and finally after several days had 50k to give him (for free since the armour were supposed to be for the guild.)
i then dropped ranger after being master for almost a week (since i wanted the ranger bonus to harvest) and proceeded with my profs.
So finally the time came for me to try smuggler and my guildmate told me to come see him when i was master before dropping that too. (well i had promised to let him train my last smuggler skills anyway as well as master title so sure)
His "present" to me was to give me 10 pieces of each armour part (10 helmets, 10 boots, 10 chests and so on) and enough AuKs and clamps and laser knives to slice them, and keep the best slice of each
urrmm.. and thats it. Pity our guild split, he started a new one with some RL friends while i joined another, as well as he has since dropped smuggler himself, but he is still the no 1 armoursmith on farstar(Slaine Soulreaver) and the one i go to see to get new armour.

This is a story with many lessons to be learned. Please pay attention.
I'm meeting some guild mates on Tat to run the neutral corvette missions. I step out of the starport and get a random tell.
RandomGuy: hello
me: hi
RG: r u imperial
me: yes
RG: can you give me 200 fp so i can sign up (for those of you who have read my other story you know how happy i am
atthis point)
me: sorry, i don't give away fp, i sell it. but you would be better off earning it on your own. (i really think it would be easier for
him seeing that he had only a couple of exploration badges and I assumed little funds.)
RG: please
me: sorry but i'm not selling right now (I had an appointment with a hutt, didn't want to leave him waiting)
RG: how much
(just tell him, he'll run away)
me: for 200, 30k, but as I said i'm not selling right now (bad smuggler, always take the creds)
RG: dude, take that helper symbol off your head (ok now you have my attention)
me: helper means that if you need something explained I will explain it.
me: for example, services such as fp sales are not free.
RG: yeah but u won't sell even if i wanted to buy
RG: end of discussion (who thinks this ends it, show of hands.... I didn't either)
me: I am doing something right now that requires me to be covert (ok small lie)
RG: ok (<---which i didn't notice until going back through my chat log)
me(in guild chat): the end of the discussion is when i add you to my ignore list if you keep annoying me
guildie who i'm meeting at jabba's: what isa? who are you talking to?
another guildie: a customer (these guys know me pretty well, and no i don't normally treat my clients like this)
at this point i realise that thethe guy didn't get my final word on the matter. so i ctrl-up and send as a tell toRG
RG: Lol, am i saying anything (i guess a few moments of sliencetook the oomphout ofthat blow)
so what did we learn?
Newbs: people will be nice to you as long as you show them some respect first
Smugglers: always take the money. if you don't, at least pay attention to who you are sending you mesages to
My Guild members: ignore 50% of what i say in guild chat (some already ignore well over that)

Wait a minute...he made the WRONG item and you STILL paid him? ha! Dude...that is NOT the smuggler way!! I wouldn't have given him one red nickel, nor would I have waited for the correct item without a discount. That he screwed up the order was HIS fault, not yours. So, future reference, he can report you all he likes but you don't owe him for HIS mistakes.

OK, here's a disclaimer: I overcharge. I'm a rping smuggler and I base my prices on how much I can make running solo group missions rather than the time I have to deal with trade windows. I get tells from this guild for about a week looking to help their faction base out by buying another turret. I agree to help.
When I get there I am met by another Smuggler. Instead of paying me to sell him faction he wants to buy the faction and give it to me to buy the turret with my smuggler discount. I say fine, let me figure out the price.... meanwhile he's started giving me faction. I figure he's got tons if he dosen't care about the price. Turns out that the turret they want is going to cost me 6300 faction points. I add a zero and ask for 63k for the service rendered. The guy makes one comment but agrees and keeps selling me faction.
For the next 30 minutes almost every member of his guild sends me a tell to the effect that:
Guildies:Your rebel and so are we so you should do everything for us for free.
Me:I'm running a business here, you pay that much for 4-6 buffs easy.
Guildies: No we don't, we get it free from one another.
Me:It's too bad that you don't respect one another well enough to consider what you do to be worthwhile of compensation.
(This goes on for a long time)
Guildies: Your and A**h*** and must not have very many friends.
Me: I have over 500 in my friends and clients list. You won't be one of them.
I add the whole guild to my deny service list. Wasted a ton of my time when I sold them the thing at half what I should have charged.

Aww no more posts to read... keep em coming guys!
After reading all of this I've found kind of a new appreciation for smugglers and what you go through. It was especialy fun to read when my comp that I play swg on is currently on the fritz, so this was a way to get my "swg fix". But when I do get back on, from now on if I don't find any novices first, I'm putting my locked containers on the bazaar for 100 cr each. My little contribution to the smuggler community
