Thread: Slicing Prices
I charge 3k per slice for armor and weapons. And In my honest opinion, I still think I am charging too low. Nearlyallof my customers complain that they can't find smugglers (or smugglers who still actively slice equipment) so I think we are a dieing breed. At least on the scylla server.
Also the holo grind has put our profession in a state of fluxtoo as most master smugglers have moved on to chase hokey religions and ancient weapons
Honest to goodness a guy payed me 40k to slice 4 weapons (that's 10k per) because he could notfindany smugglerto slice his stuff.
I plan on benefiting from this new holo grind era in the SWG universe. The grass is definitely green from where i'm grinding. Later.
Quite the opposite on Intrepid. Prior to Xmas - I would rarely ever see another Master Smuggler around Coronet or Theed - and when I did, it was the same 2 or 3 masters.
After Xmas - I now see at least 4-5 Masters with a few regulars hanging out at Coronet and a few more selling their tools/drugs from player cities [via the Intrepid regular or trade forums].

I do not do street slices very often but on my vendor I do roughly the following:
25% = 150% weapon cost to me
30% = 200%
35% = 300% +
Street slices are ok but when a buyer can walk up and view several options at 30-35% in exactly yje stat they want, they tend to pay well. I price everything below 25% at 2k markup. I've never had a weapon drop off to the stockroom and I keep 100 weapons on my vendor most days.
Now if you can get the really big slices you can start talking big money. I have sold several pistols for 100 to 200,000 credits.
I charge flat 3k.
When I am slicing, it usually draws a crowd and more tells than I can keep up with. I need a *fast* fair way to charge and that is why I go with the flat 3k. I can serve more people faster without doing the extra math...and I hate making people wait.
I sliced 25 weaponsfor a customer the other day, and got paid 75k, and also received a 5k tip.
I also sliced about 20weapons for another customer. They were saying 'Come on 45! Come on 45!'....so I told them that weapons max at 35%, and I had only seen *one* at 35% so far. They said 'Come on 35! Come on 35!' I got one at 34% and they gave me a 3k tip.

personally I charge, 2.5k per item up to three items at once. For four or more items at once I only charge 2k per item. Other than the occasionaly tell there is one smuggler charging cheaper than I do, I have always been told I don't charge enough. I will not go to a % system. I also slice krayt stuff for some smiths and get paid 10% the final selling price. The smith buys the krayt stuff, so after his costs, and my fees, he barely breaks even or is sometimes ahead.
My current rate: 100 creds per % on weapons, 25k for full sets of composite. This is pretty much the price I always charged (though when I first hit master smuggler, I used to charge a 3k flat rate for all items).
I'm mostly retired from slicing (only slice for regular customers and people that visit me at my house) but my rates are pretty low, considering other master smugglers on my server charge 5k per item. Sure, a 33% damage slice on a krayt weapon makes it easilyworth double the price, but I couldn't figure out a fair way to calculate a progressive price for slicing based on the weapon cost.
I charge the pseudo-standard 100cr / %. No minimum fee and nothing is free. I used to put in the below 15% free thing, but eventually decided that 15% cost me the same, and their stuff's now 15% better, no freebies. I don't charge folks in my PA for anything and sell supplies at a reduced rate to the one or two other smugglers in the guild as I'm the highest of us in the boxes. Kind of like thecity crime boss ![]()
At Master I'll be upping my prices to 150cr / % and I'll see how that goes. I tell folks to read my bio and most ask "So how much is that?" after I tell them the result. /sigh/ Ah well. Slicey slicey ![]()
To every smuggler who does not charge for a slice under 20%......

It is you, who lessens the true value of our unique service. Not one thing has confirmed that slicing is anything but random. Any idiot smuggler should be wise enough to insure that their potential customer(s) are aware of that. The fact is, a slice of 10% still cost you the same materials and time as a slice of 35%. Not charging for slices below any percentage undermines the entire skill tree.
This is a unique service, that can only be performed by us, yet some of us give it away as a commodity like socks at Walmart. Collectively, we all have our customers by the berries, yet some smugglers still choose to massage rather than squeeze.
Charging by percentage increase is easily the fairest method, whereas the customer always pays for what he recieves. NOT charging for a slice under 20% is basically telling a customer that the slice was garbage, when in fact, you still made an improvement to the weapon/armor that NO OTHER profession can do. It's ridiculous. It's blatantly leaving money on the table. It's a spineless way of dealing with mis-managed expectations. Shame on all of you who do this, subsequently deflating the value of a profession which by and large has been a very cooperative and friendly community. You are directly responsible for negatively impacting the slicing market for all your peers who have unselfishly helped you along your journey as a smuggler. You are the bane of our profession.
While I was a novice smuggler I charged a flat fee 2k per slice....Now at Master I charge 100cr per %.....I make any where from 60k-250k in an hour or so if I am just slicing....I dont think I need to charge more, I already think most prices of stuff in this game is outragous
Plus I have noticed with my own weapons...Once sliced the condition decreases much faster with use....No reason to gaulge the customers.....and if the majority of us use the same pricing, it is much easier and faster to deal with customers....most people that come to me for slicing already know or have had the same price with other Smugglers...So I dont have to stop in the middle of a slice to answer the same old /tell "how much for a slice"
