Thread: Slicing Prices

I started at 100 per %, now I'm at 3500 per slice and 30k fora suit of armor.

I'm getting sick of slicing to be honest, so I'm going to raise my prices again and if people want to pay, cool, if not, no biggie.

I'm selling good amounts of spice and I slice when asked but never advertise. This plus my resource sales have me set pretty well. (I think I'll increase my prices for Krayt slices and only use my 99% stuff on them.)

Now along time ago i used to be a smuggler, one of the first never mastered but i liked it. Now i'm back into it and when i would slice weapons or armor i'd charge a hefty fee. Nothing outrageous but nothing cheap either. Usually i would charge from 200-400 % upgrade no matter what. Anyway i was just wondering why don't we do that now. We charge very little when these people should be paying much more for our services to upgrade there equipment. Now if it's something not good maybe charge a flat fee of 2-3k but let us Smugglers show others what we are really like. Not a-holes but guys (or gals) who do what they can to make a decent living. So basically i'm trying to say don't let them go cheap, if they want us to make there stuff better charge them for it, don't pretty much give it away, put yourself ahead in the galaxy. Just my thoughts.

I charge 100 credits per % increased, and as far as I can see, that's about what most others are charging.

When I make master, I may up my prices a small amount.

I don't really think our prices are too low, I've been making decent profits.

I have been charging 2500 per slice, and I have been toying with the idea of raising my prices for a while, but I do get a noticable amount of people saying that I charge too much. They say that they usually get slices for 1000 credits!!!

Also, I hear of a lot of smugglers charging less, or nothing for slices below 20%. I still charge 2500 for these because people know the risk before they get me to slice their weapon and there is nothing I can do to prevent getting below 20%.

I charged 2k when I had slicing 4. At Master, I now charge 100 credits per %. That way people only pay for the results.

I use to charge a flat fee of 3k per weapon but soon found my customer base less than happy when I'd slice a weapon for 15%. Since changing it to 100 credits per % - everyone seems to be happier as they are paying for the slice- better slice, more expensive.

Currently I'm running all slices at a flat rate of 3k per item, but as I slice I've been polling my customers if they prefer a flat fee or the percentage system

Tanto, I get one or two folk who claim to get slices for ridiculously cheap, but I just tell them my prices are pretty standard, and they should check the Smuggler forums for themselves.

They always end up getting slices from me anyway, without checking.

It's just a sad fact of life, that people will try and BS you to try and save a few hundered credits.

But who honestly here would like to charge more for our special talent? Almost every charcter in the game comes to us with a weapon or armor to slice. It will be tuff and the odds are against me but i'm gonna try to make as much as i can.

I have also found it easier to charge a flat rate...2k per weapon and 2.5k for armor pieces. I always use molecular clamps and I'm a Slicer IV. For containers I only used nodes, never clamps and I did them for free. Since I have maxed out on my slicing skill, I turn down slicing containers and tell the customer to find Low level slicers so that they could get the xp for it.

I just got slicing 2 Today, and all day, i was charging a flat fee of 500 cr, mainly because my slices aren't that great, and i figure if i make a get steady customer base, once i raise my rates, they might still come see me. I figure once i hit Slicing 4 i'll start charging the 100cr per %, which form what i've seen is pretty much the standard. But until then i think i'll start raising my rates are i progress through skills. Doing this, and only slicing weapons, i make an ok profit (nothing too great cause i had bought clamps and Weapon upgrade kits) and would have slicing 3 now except for a server crash that happened a few minutes ago.

I always give the customer the option of3 price schemes:

(1) 100Cr per % (subject to a minimum of 2000Credits);
(2) Fixed 2500 Credits;
(3) 3000 credits with slices below 20% for free.

That way they if they lose out it's their fault, and i'm always covered. The most popular choice is 2, but one guy was sick when he chose 1 and i sliced his whole composite suit (plus spares - 12 items) for over 30%.

It was 100 creds per 1% for weapons and 200 creds per 1% for armor and never charge under 20%. But I recently lowered my armor price. For awhile everyone was happy with my armor price than a few more master smugglers popped up. plus people seem to have less money these days. So my Armor is 100 creds per 1%. Was nice slicing full suits for 200 creds per 1%. but I still make decent money with the 100 cred method.
