Thread: Well guys.. we get shafted again..
She wasn't even "honest" about it. She babbled something about it not being postponed. *rolls eyes* I'd like a detailed description of what she thinks the difference between delayed and postponed is.

I'm gonna back Wes up on this one and thank Tiggs for the information.
Exactly WHAT information are you thanking Tiggs for? I saw no information. Confirming that we aren't getting smuggling content isn't enformation. Every single day we log in we know we aren't getting smuggling content.
Please tell me what new information we got today?
Like I said in, err, the rest of that reply.. I'd rather have a little honesty than absolutely nothing. The silence could've went on indefinitely, and today it's been fired in one single and merciful head shot.
I was lingering around, giving the devs "until publish X" to see if a revamp was coming. I now know I won't have to wait "until publish X" to see what's going on and probably leave because there probably won't be any revamp news at all - now I have a pretty good indication of what's going on.
It was inadvertant and spin-meistered in delivery, but undeniable at it's root: we're f*ed.
remember years ago when we joked 'we probly arent gonna get revamped till 2006
'
looks like we were right ![]()

Yes, I also mentioned being resentful about the way it came out, but still, even this.. whatever the hell it is.. is better than silence.I can leave withpeace of mind. I'll probably still give them to the end of my billing cycle to see if anything at all gets published by the team, but not more than that, which is what I originally intended.
So, to clarify, I'm reallythanking Tiggs for the mercy killing morethan the information =(
And before some idiot like Mr. Raph Koster declares this post a victory of "why developers shouldn't talk to their communities" or whatnot - typical SOE crap - I would be significantly more angry, in facttenfold, at least, to find this stuff out months later. As in, angry enough to give the BBB a call about blatant mistreatment of customers. I feel plenty ripped off and cheated out of myinvestmentin this productas is.
So many childish ppl. Why attack Tiggs? What do you think you will accomplish doing that?
The game isn't all about smugglers (yes my toon is a smuggler), there's a lot of bug fixes and other professions that need something FASTER than us (CH comes to mind). I like the new slicing and i'm having fun with it, a smuggler revamp will come for sure and bring a lot more content but that must be added after bug and profession fixes.
As a friend says
Remember, if you are not having fun its not worth it.
You are not being forced to anything. I don't understand this "I must show how angry and frustrated i'm RAWWRR" attitude. Won't help anything or anyone.

SOE has no respect for you as customers, never has and likely never will. For them to even think that they do is an insult to our intelligence.
The entire team cares very much about you the customers and the game. The game is constantly evolving and we need to focus our energy on bug fixes and making the game more fun for a wider audience. That includes the present audience in that. We want to have more players for you to play with and I am sure you want that also. With this comes reducing the scope of our publishes so that we can make sure that publishes are cleaner. This doesn't mean that there won't be changes to professions or other content, it just means that bigger things are pushed out and given the time to be worked on that they deserve.
OK Lets try and make this clear...
I and MANY of us hear consider that Smuggler was put into the game unfinished as a BUG.
It is a BUG that has not been fixed since launch.
Itis a BUG that has only been expanded by a sloppy last minute Slicing revamp
It is a BUG that has slipped countless deadlines
Say what you want BUT, If I deliver a product, and a MAJOR Functionality spelled out in the Functional Spec and SOW is not met.. It is immediatly considered a Priority 1 BUG
Smuggler was listed in the game documentation that we recieved when we bought the game license.. It's unfinished status could be considered a breach of the SOW
Smuggler had been massivly discussed and designed back in Pre-Beta, Few of those functions were implemented, thus it failed to meet the functional spec.
Smuggler, is a feature of this product that is now 24 months late from "Go Live"
Show me ANY OTHER Software project outside the game industry where this is acceptable behavior.

The game also isnt all about Jedi and BH. I dont know if you have noticed it yet, since you said you are busy with the content, but the Slicing is still borked from what i read on those boards. And most of our Combat Abilities are utter useless. Oh.. CHs getting love.. its hitting TC soon and i m happy for them. But that does not takes away our right to be frustrated bout the whole situation. And if you might have forgotten.. its Tiggs damned Job to catch the fire. In this particular case she ignited it by herself, more or less.

Tiggs, I'm sorry but I'm going to have to ABSOLUTELY disagree with you here.
"pushed out and given the time to be worked on that they deserve"?????????
TWO YEARS HASN'T BEEN ENOUGH?
God, our revamp had better be an entire damned EXPANSION at this rate.
I think Veela hit the nail on the head with this one... the only way a the revamp is going to be anything other that a repeat of the half assed ((will i get banned for saying assed?) slicing system debacleis if it Is part of an extensive expansion focusing on neutral faction and underworld type stuff. How is smuggling going to be at all engaging when the underworld is so underdefined and shallow and there is sooo little integration of the ground and space game. In my opinion smuggler shouldnt have even been added until JTL and it should have beencomplete at that time. Thats not how things went down but thats the past and there is nothing you can do about it now. I'd rather wait then see the rest of our revamp turn out like the slicing system. OK thats all i wanted to say flame away...
oh and just to fan the flames.. I'm with wes on the "thanks" tiggs for at least saying something even if it was a bit of a load.

The SWG devs, are constantly pushing out bug riddled patches.
1) The fact swg has been out 2 years, with only 2 expansion packs, and has already had to have a combat "upgrade", while EQ2 hasn’t even been out a year yet, it has 2 adventure packs (mini expansions) with a expansion pack due out this September, is truly TRUELY sad.
2)just fix the bugs, in TESTCENTER before you push them to live, and you'd avoid sooo much problems in the future. That’s all anyone asks.
no, I’m not a SOE hater or a fanboi, I have a love hate mentality towards SOE, I play EQ2 and I love it. I used to love playing SWG, I’m not trying to whine, I’m just asking, fix the bugs, before you push them to live, in the testcenter.

now thats just bloody brilliant!
I'd say its better to take a break from new, buggy, half assed content go about squashing some of the bugs and issues with the existing content(such as it is) then once the game works, spend some time and add in some well thought out and thouroughly tested new content (all of which should be designed to make the smuggler BOTH Uber and leet)

I can almost guarantee this; the smuggler revamp isn't even a thought in their minds. No where close, I guarantee it. Pathetic considering how many times they started to do it and then stopped, and then started, and then stopped, etc.

The entire team cares very much about you the customers and the game. Part of the problem here Tiggs is that we the customers often dont see or feel this care. When bugs are reported in the in-testing pages and are yet still pushed to live and take weeks to get fixed its a little hard to see where the "care" does come in.
The game is constantly evolving which is goodand we need to focus our energy on bug fixes also goodand making the game more fun for a wider audience. That includes the present audience in that. We want to have more players for you to play with and I am sure you want that also A big part of this should surely be to fix broken professions. If the professions are'nt working then no matter how many bug fixes you do and no matter how much fun the game is, if your playing a broken or near useless profession(Dancer, entertainer etc) then the game wont be fun at all. This also rings true when it comes to attracting new players. if new players know that so many professions are'nt working right they wont want to play because their profession choices are limited. A profession as iconic as Smuggler should be a main concern for the team to get working. Han Solo, possibly the coolest non-jedi character from starwars was a smuggler, women wanted to be with him and men want to be him. They get that chance here in SWG but not right now, because smuggler is so broken. Lets say new player "X" comes to the game, he wants to be a smuggler/pistoleer(classic Han solo build) he also wants to be a freelance pilot in the smugglers alliance(again classic Han solo) because he is excited by the prospect of fast ships, life on the edge, hot women and generally a Han solo lifestyle. He hops in a group so that he can grind his way up, he starts talking to other players and tells them he is interested in smuggler. all the other players(who are more knowledgable) laugh and tell him that smuggler is nothing more than a name. New player "X" quits the game because he can not do what he wanted to when he started playing.
With this comes reducing the scope of our publishes so that we can make sure that publishes are cleaner. With all of the publishes that have had jedi fixes and changes you can understand why other players are not happy that their proffession see's no love. This doesn't mean that there won't be changes to professions again the professions should be top of the list of things to get fixed, simply because with so many of the professions currently broken or not working right(Dancer,Ranger, smuggler, squad leader, Musician, Doctor, Bio-engineer, tailor) new players joining the game are either limited in their choices or will get very fed up very quickly.or other content, it just means that bigger things are pushed out and given the time to be worked on that they deserve. Hopefully this is what you are planning for future publishes and not what you have done in the past as it does'nt seem to be working. since the CU and ROTW were pushed live the way they were(not ready to go live) all following publishes have seemed to follow the same trend of being pushed live after 2 weeks on TC regardless of what major or minor issues are being reported with it by the players .
My point is, professions should figure fairly high on the agenda when it comes to getting things fixed, especially when one of those professions is almost a defining characteristic of starwars.
As a longtime smuggler, I do at least appreciate when effort is made to keep us in the loop.
And I support the current concept of fixing the things that are broken before new stuff.
Too much has gone for too long.
