Thread: Well guys.. we get shafted again..

Since release. Since PRE-release. Since...
Mission terminals, space quests, slicing mini-game, bounty hunters.. the pieces are all out there, just put them together for us! Give me a reason to use my YT-1300 and give me a chance to be interdicted and fight or evade detection with a secret compartment.. And the new loot system is horrible. I was optimistic at first, but the fact that the components don't stack, the rarity of the high end items (ICB, Mandalorian Intraframes, etc.) is insulting.
We are currently focusing on fixing what is currently broke. New features will be move out to a longer term implementation.
W.T.F.
Let me clarify.
It means not this year.Seriously.
You will never get that from SOE, but I've been around long enough to know it means that Smugglers can stop hoping for the rest of 2005.
Towards November or December they'll publish a new list of what they want to accomplish for 2006. And with hope, smugglers will be part of the 10% of that list that actually makes it into the game.
Seriously. It's not happening this year.. She just gave you your answer. Think about ALL the bugs in this game, and their dinky "publishes" and their 1 hotfix fixing 1 problem when each publish is breaking 20-30 things.
2006 Ladies and Gentleman, that might be the year.
I'm gonna back Wes up on this one and thank Tiggs for the information. Reason being that, personally,I'd prefer some degree of honesty (even if it ain't much)toa complete degree of uncertainty. Even though it came out in an awkward and "spinmeister" fashion, which I do resent, the truth came out. If anything else, Tiggs deserves credit for jumping into a hornets nest that she knew was trouble when she made the reply.
I would still like to see a full disclosure of the state of the smuggling content as is, even if it isn't finished or if segments of it are tentative. I think that would be great for the community to at least get a taste of how the development cycle is working at this moment. It would be truly awesome if the developers and the customers worked together on just about every single step of the process, and I have to admit, when Tiggs and GreenMarine came to the smuggler forums and made posts asking for input, it did my morale real good. Seeing that get taken away, though, knocked the wind out of me.
Anyway,on an unrelated-to-smuggling note about the post, I'm in complete dismay that the lag is not being seen as a "bug." That's quite simply *the* mostinsane thing I've ever heard in SWG. If that's not a bug, then what the heck is it? I mean, all I can think of is either "design flaw" or "servers not able to handle the load" -- both of which look much, much WORSE than a mere "bug."

Honestly, this should come as NO surprise to any of you.
SOE has no respect for you as customers, never has and likely never will. For them to even think that they do is an insult to our intelligence.
The entire team cares very much about you the customers and the game. The game is constantly evolving and we need to focus our energy on bug fixes and making the game more fun for a wider audience. That includes the present audience in that. We want to have more players for you to play with and I am sure you want that also. With this comes reducing the scope of our publishes so that we can make sure that publishes are cleaner. This doesn't mean that there won't be changes to professions or other content, it just means that bigger things are pushed out and given the time to be worked on that they deserve.
Well I know that none of you know me, and I do not post much on the forums but this just killed me. Tiggs I know that you work very hard and in my eyes (from what I read) you do a damn good job. Please tell me that a class that has waited this long can actually swollow the fact that the smugglers are yet again part of the reduced scope. The revamp was not pushed back, but the focus is on fixing bugs... Can someone please explain the difference to me? I understand the bugs need to be fixed (I test network software for a living) but damn this is just getting silly. At some point in my year plus of being a smuggler I hoped that I would have a use other than getting tipped 100 credits per for wasting so many skill points (yes I know that is not the case right now).
Anyhow Tiggs I do not envy you what so ever. You have a very tough job but I really hope there is some love, or at least some info about this class.

The toughest part of Tigg's day is not breaking her contract and yelling at us because we're supposed to know that she's nothing more than a human punching bag who was hired specifically to be a go between for the community, the developers and their bosses.
Her job isn't all that difficult, except for the part I just mentioned. In truth she is ignored just as much as WE the customer is ignored.
All that leaves us with is cancellation or doing something else for another year.
BTW, As a smuggler, I have quit slicing, I have quit making spice, I have quit it all. I now just group with my friends when I can find a group of my friends to group with, which is rare.

Tiggs, this statement is a cop-out, and you know it.
Smuggler has been broken longer than any of these bugs on your list. How is a Smuggler that can't Smuggle "working as intended"?
This is the sorriest excuse for leaving Smuggler in the dust that I've ever seen. Why don't you tell the devs to just delete the profession, so you won't be bothered by us anymore? We were tossed into the game as an afterthought anyway, why not just hit the big red button and destroy the profession?
- Slicing has been destroyed by loss of player interdependency and loot-based slicing (which, since we can't go over the weapons cap, is a waste.) Also, the components don't stack, making it outrageous to carry on-the-fly slicing components.
- We do not Smuggle.
- Underworld is usless, unless you're factionally aligned.
- Spices are worthless (with the exception of Pixie and Booster.)
So Tiggs, you tell me:
HOW is Smuggler NOT broken?
I probably won't get answered, I know that, because there IS no excuse for the way Smuggler has been treated. NONE. You're telling me that two YEARS isn't enough waiting for content? We've had 21 publishes now, 3 of them dedicated to the BH vs Jedi conflict, or Jedi (and the concept of becoming a Jedi) alone. Two of them dedicated to specific professions (DE,and Chef, and a mini-pub for IDs.) To come in here and tell us that we're not broken is an arrogant statement...and a slap in the face to a profession that I'veloved for over two years.
veela....I do not know you but i am in love
nicely put
I have and know people that still work in customer service jobs, and Istand behind what I have said. Tiggs has no effect on what the devs do other than relay info to other people and act as a buffer. In no way would I want to get flamed day in and day out for things that are out of my control, but what was said made me speak up.
Keep us informed Tiggs!

I know, I know, nobody asked for it, and nobody cares, but here's my guess as to what is really going on:
Though first, I say that I truly believe that it is the intention of SOE to produce a fun game for everyone. If for once they could get people giving pleasant feedback on the forums, everyone in the office would be happier. I understand that. For those of you who are working hard at your jobs as developers: thank you. Honestly. You have improved the game greatly since it was released.
But it is becoming increasingly clear that somewhere high up in the SOE management chain, someone who shouldn't have got promoted to the wrong position.
I'm sure everyone has seen some situation like this, in the real or the virtual world. A great player for the team, a real whiz kid, and hero at what he does ends up jumping into a leadership position. He really cares about what he is doing, he really wants to make a piece of art that everyone will remember and smile about. He wants to do that in any position he can in the company, but since he'sa high up... great! He can do it all!
But whoever this is, can't. He can't seem to commit to a clear vision of the future. He bends when he should be firm, and he's firm when he should bend. But he's a really great guy, and everyone believes in him, so maybe he'll stop screwing up and become competent soon.
I'm guessing at this because it is pretty clear to me now that recent forum sentiment has caused an alarm, which should have been carefully and methodically adressed, rather than putting up the red alert flag, announcing "battlestations!" and sending all hands to do damage control.
We really need someone in management at SOE who can see what the community sees. What ALL the community sees, not just the most vocal minorities. They need someone that understands what is going on in the game. Someone who understands that "a wide market" isn't what this game needs. SOE has games that should appeal to a wide market. This game should be for all kinds of fans of Star Wars. Today's "damage control" spree seems to indicate a focus on systematic flaws rather than fundamental. Fixing specific bugsaddresses a systematic flaw. Poor quality assurance is a fundamental flaw. Fixing the way a Jedi power works addresses a systematic flaw. Jedi are a fundamental flaw. Sending Tiggs out to talk to everyoneaddresses a systematic flaw. Improving the communication chain so Tiggs wouldn't be relegated to damage control would be fixing a fundamental flaw.
I'm sorry for sounding long-winded and judgemental. I'm sorry if my inferences are incorrect and everything is peachy at SOE. But my instincts are telling me that everything that is wrong with the way the game is being handled is symtomatic of bad management. Please, if any managers at SOE are reading this, reevaluate the way you are handling things. If politics won't let you change the way you are handling things, ignore political procedure and do the right thing.
I want to love this game. I want to reccomend it to everyone I know.
I can't. I may never be able to. Which it makes me very sad to admit.

Tiggs... we know you're just the go-between, and have no control over what's done when.
I really only think there's one option as customers. Ask to see the manager.
No, not the CS manager... the person who's at the top rung of the SWG project at SOE. Why not get that person in here & let them get into an actual dialogue with the player base on these forums. It's obvious to me, Tiggs, that somewhere in the ladder going up from your position to "the big boss", things are getting SERIOUSLY lost in translation.

Exactly WHAT information are you thanking Tiggs for? I saw no information. Confirming that we aren't getting smuggling content isn't enformation. Every single day we log in we know we aren't getting smuggling content.
Please tell me what new information we got today?
Like I said in, err, the rest of that reply.. I'd rather have a little honesty than absolutely nothing. The silence could've went on indefinitely, and today it's been fired in one single and merciful head shot.
