Thread: Concerns about slicing.
Getting a slice should be easy. Not getting caught with a sliced weapon should be difficult.
We're not jedi. Don't put rare crap into our profession. Keep it simple and accessible to casual players.
I'm sorry, but I am really concerned that SWG is becoming more and more loot based. Don't get me wrong, I love loot as much as the next person but we have crafters in the game, why can't they be used to provide some of the slicing equipment or at leastallow smugglers to craft the pieces themselves?
Crafting is what makes this game different from all the other kill-and-loot games out there, crafting is why I play SWG.

But I am glad smuggler is finally getting some attention, hopefully my boyfriend will be a lot happier now
Well the whole design behind SWG crafting system is that in order to have an uber item, you MUST have a crafter that is involved with actually making the item. It is sad to see guns that are looted that rival crafted ones, but I do believe that the best you can get is crafted.
With this loot-based slicing system YOU NEED a smuggler to do it for you. That is the most crucial part of including loot but still showing love to your crafters and smugglers.

BUT - there will most certainly need to be some education to let people know what to expect - I don't relish explaining how the thing works to every customer.
Smuggler presses F5: No, the DWB is currently too high powered for smugglers to go in, unless you are accompanied by 7 Jedi. Since you are a , you should be able to find you own group of Jedi and retrieve the component successfully.
Smuggler presses F6:Yes. I do accept bank transfers. Send me a tell when you have the component and we can meet up.

salvage option to them that turns them into one of the new components,
randomly. (With the higher level ones being rare, etc). Also, the high
end components can now be found on Krayts, etc.
I'm strongly against these being specific drops to the DWB or the Avatar Platform.
I dont' really like the idea of them being drops at all, but I agree that high performance upgrades should be harder to get. But I would support making them drop off a wide variety of NPCs, of varying levels, with varying qualities.
As a master smuggler, yes, I will expect most of the people who want these special slices to provide their own components.
I think it is important that we still have the basic slicing abilites that don't require the looted components as well.
Better yet, make the high end components craftable, but be really tight on the resources. Require very high end stuff to make the best. Give crafters a reason to try.
Give the components crafting to Droid Engineers or Armor/Weaponsmiths if you don't want smuggler to be a crafting profession anymore.
To the people saying that you're going to quit if the changes are implemented: Good riddance. If you can't handle difficulty and the removal of convenience from the profession, get out now, because it's not going to get easier for us. One day you will be the same person complaining about Smugglers being on the BH terminals, because it's a tier based system, but you can't reap the benefits without taking a gamble on high-end missions.
To GM: Sorry about the mess.
To the people with constructive criticism/comments: You make this forum the place I love. Thank you.
